  1. From what I've seen I think he'll be pretty good in the pros. Likely more than just a 3rd down back as he has enough size to compete, to go with his quickness and receiving abilities. I see him going in the late 2nd/early 3rd round area, but then again who knows?
  2. It's either DT for me as well. Without much hesitation at all wrt the other positions available.
  3. Well if you put it that way, I imagine the way they are looking at it is: Huge upgrade at starting LG AND Moderate upgrade at RT > Pro Bowl Corner And yes, whether or not they are right is to be determined...
  4. re: Nate I was one of his biggest supporters and fully aware of the value he brought to the defense. With that said I'm sure the Bills gave him a generous offer, but just not an offer such as the blockbuster offered by Frisco. I certainly place no blame on the staff for not making such an offer to him. It's just too much for their situation. I really hate to see him go, but it turns out that we had no chance at him and he played it smart with his agent by not re-signing last year when we wanted to get a deal done for him. Of course the defense will suffer for not having him, but instead of trying to determine and place blame we need to place hope that the team will do enough to make his loss hurt a lot less than it potentially could. IE Okye/Branch at DT, a decent Corner in FA, or whatever... Wrt Fletcher, I believe that if the Bills wanted to re-sign him, they could have. I really liked him as both player and leader, but apparently they have other plans.
  5. I agree with all that now that you break it down but to say Nate did not help against the run is simply false.
  6. He's a cheaper/ healthier/ more athletic version of the recently departed Chris V. I suppose.
  7. For me in this draft, if it's not going to be Okoye then it should be Willis. If not Willis then Levi Brown. I'd be happy with that.
  8. Teams that judge players THAT much based on combine performances are the teams that end up losers in the draft for years to come. Luckily for most teams, they weigh on-the-field performance a bit more than combine results.
  9. Just to add (based on previous comments), Nate Clements plays just fine against the run thankyou. In fact , he is one of the best Corners out there at run support. His price may be too high, but the run support agument cannot be used as a rationalization with him.
  10. Again, how was Price "Over paid" ? We were not in cap trouble and he got 10 mil for 4 years. Big Deal! Plus he directly contributed hugely to 2 of our wins last season.
  11. If teams cannot garner anything but a #2 for guys like Shawn Alexander and Edge, the Chargers are dreaming to think that someone would give up a #1 and then some for this guy.
  12. Peerless is far from being overpayed so I don't understand the point at all.
  13. Oh No!! They Contacted us
  14. Not a chance we pick a RB in the 1st.
  15. Well described Mr. ! This should clear it up for everyone who didn't yet realize the mid-season change that the Bills implemented.
  16. I think your take here makes a lot of sense. It is unlikely to me that the assumption that the Bills will completely ignore the "Cap hit" is true. I just don't think Marv explained it that well.
  17. Fletcher would likely make more "plays at the line of scrimmage" if the line of scrimmage wasn't pushed 4 yards forward so frequently by the opponent's O-line. The D-line needs to be better against the run too.
  18. Nice post Bill. I'd agree mostly with your reaction to what Marv said. Mcnally confirmed himself in a recent quote that they now just leave Peters out "on the island" with no help because he can handle it. I'm looking DT in the first round but I certainly wouldn't be upset iwth Levi Brown to man the RT position. Here's hoping we can get atleast one nice upgrade at G!
  19. I guess you need to read this post too: Marv's role
  20. What does that have to do with what I said? There are more negatively skewed posters here than there are positive ones, and most all of them likely roll their eyes when they see some of your doom and gloom posts, or posts that are flat out wrong that you won't let go of even after being proven wrong, and you are trying to explain to me what a homer is?
  21. How ironic, A calling out for "30,000 meaningless posts" made by a member who is largely ignored by all but maybe 3 members on this site.
  22. To those that still, amazingly, don't seem to know (including WGR) : Marv is the GM OF FOOTBALL OPERATIONS. He deals very little to not at all with the salary cap. He is strictly concerned with the makeup of the team/ player personell structure and the staff has been delegated roles to deal with all other things.
  23. You're right that it should (and does) affect completion percentage too. That shows you one of Carr's real strong areas to be able to achieve that high comp % without the benefit of many leads. Plus his offense did include many medium and deeper routes, unlike a west coast O that dumps a ton to the backs a TE.
  24. More Td's / Fewer picks often comes from not playing from behind like 80% of the time as much as it comes from the skill of the QB. When you are behind you are forced to take more risks.
