AP exclusive: Bills propose new 60k seat stadium by (update - 2025)

We tend to forget that even back in our SB years, there were times when we didn’t sell out a home playoff game in January. -

Well Promo, I’m afraid that if we are still having COVID issues in 5+ years, then I fear we are gonna have far bigger issues than where the stadium is located. The Bills already draw from a 1.2m population in their metro area, plus that additional 15%-20% in southern Ontario, plus Rochester. I think they’d stand to lose more than they’d stand to gain by moving so far east of their current WNY and southern Ontario markets. -

For several reasons, I can’t get behind a stadium built that far east of Buffalo. I know it would make your commute a shorter one, but it would dramatically lengthen the commute time for the majority of ticket holders in the Bills’ market, including the 15%-20% of Canadian fans who won’t contend with a closed border (hopefully) by the time the new stadium is ready. -

I assume the directional orientation will be the same as to prevent players from having to look directly into the sun at times during a game, but as you point out, there are construction solutions to mitigate the wind issues we have now. Like not building half the stadium below grade, for instance. Glad you mentioned Seattle as an example. I remember seeing a video of how they modeled the winds traveling through the stadium from various directions. Interesting stuff. -
How do we know all of them were vaccinated?

So BB is an idiot then? Got it. Moving goalposts and shoehorning; a rare combo indeed. Well done. -

Ah, I see you needed to change the scope of the conversation to be a specific issue with the Bills draft because your original general statement that only an idiot would select a 1T DT in the first round was so easily refuted with the Belichick example. Sometimes ya gotta move the goalposts I guess. -
The graphic was incorrect.

What idiot? How about that idiot Bill Belichick? Going into the 2021 draft, five of his 18 first round picks with the Pats*** were spent on DTs, three of which played much of their time at the 1 tech. -
They’re in the HOF. There isn’t more than that except to those who insist on inane arguments about what separates the greats from the super greats. Makes no difference to Levy and Kelly. Their careers were recognized with the highest honor that can be bestowed on those who coached/played the game.
-
I won't belabor the point except to say that every coach in the HOF was good at managing super sized egos. Like I said earlier, it's a prerequisite for the job.
-
So, if Marv never went to four consecutive SBs, he still would be in the HOF because he could manage super egos? Somehow I doubt that.
-
That’s so true and I appreciate Marv’s ability for in that regard but I take managing personalities at par for HCs and I don’t think it would be one of my criteria if I were a HOF voter. Marv’s record pretty much tells the story of his ability to manage people.
-
Of course there’s no guarantee. But when the opportunity presents itself, it makes sense to take advantage. I can’t agree that the team is hinging it’s strategy on it though. The idea is to score on every possession, regardless; from your first possession and until you need to start milking the clock if you’re in a position to do so.
-
I agree Marv is overrated as a HC, but I fully understand why he’s in the HOF. He made history in the game and did something no HC had done before and hasn’t done since. That’s hard for HOF voters to ignore.
-
Of course going for the kill and getting up early is always preferable and I’m fully on board with that. Who wouldn’t be? I’m just saying that the double possession to end a half and begin a half is a unique time element in the game as being ahead by two possessions well into the third quarter can really force teams to start pressing, especially after they’ve sat for the better part of an hour sometimes. Being up two possessions in the first quarter and into the second really doesn’t move the game plan needle and teams can still stick to it. I agree 100% that there’s a seeming lack of urgency and I mentioned that in my original response as well.
-
Forcing teams out of their game plans and making them one dimensional is really what the “double dip” is about. If done right, you can go from being tied to being up two possessions well into the third quarter while the opponent’s offense has been sitting around for a lengthy spell. It’s a great opportunity to take command of the game. But I agree that it doesn’t matter if you can’t execute it and we suck at it. I wonder if Daboll appreciates the urgency behind the strategy because we tend to come out flatter than pancakes after halftime.
-
Point being that they played under the weight of highly raised expectations after reaching the AFCC the previous year and limped into the AFC East title and playoffs in ‘89. I see similarities. We can sit here all day and pick out the differences between the teams. I happen to think the mental strain of raised expectations is very much alike.

‘89 Bills redux. Been saying it since last season ended.

How many days does it take you to process a Bills loss?
K-9 replied to ShakAttack's topic in The Stadium Wall
Days? More like minutes. Same as when they win. The game goes into the rear view immediately and the focus becomes the next game. -
I said in the summer heading into camp that a big challenge for this team would be playing under the weight of raised expectations and that it reminded me of the ‘89 Bills after their AFCC loss to the Bengals in ‘88. Seeing the same kind of inconsistency from this group as we saw in ‘89. Just feels so familiar.
