  1. Understandable programming decision. Pats*** vs Phins is a better matchup.
  2. It’s been all down hill since Curt Gowdy and Al DeRogatis. 😄
  3. Chef Nathan and Chef Poo are the best.
  4. True. Perhaps it’s just me, but there is nothing a color commentator can say that will keep me tuned in, whether the game is interesting or not. Nothing at all.
  5. My biggest issue with color commentary guys is that they feel compelled to talk too much; like they get paid per word. And when you have two of them like ESPN does on Monday nights, it becomes a competition and the chatter becomes non stop. The game is interesting, but it ain’t that interesting. Sometimes less is more and ya gotta let the picture speak for you.
  6. He had trouble understanding them when he played so it stands to reason he wouldn’t be able to explain them now.
  7. Darn. I had my hopes up that being Scottish was actually an insurance against COVID.
  8. Being Scottish is a COVID insurance thing? Who knew?!
  9. Wow, that is beyond poor. It really shines a light on the passer rating differential stat you cited earlier in the week.
  10. There’s a difference between “never” as was asserted and far less than other teams as is the case with Belichick and the Pats***. But there is no prep for the kind of wind conditions seen in the first Pats*** game anyway and I doubt the wind in Foxborough was a factor for Mac Jones in practice that week. They just know he has limited arm strength, regardless.
  11. Not necessarily. There are other aspects of practice that may be hindered by the elements as well; chiefly special teams related to kicking and punting. Also, given the storm yesterday, both the outdoor practice fields and stadium surfaces may not be conducive to an efficient practice. But this is nothing new. Marv used to conduct numerous practices indoors when the weather prohibited efficient practices. It’s a trade off.
  12. This is not true. The Pats*** may do it far less than other teams, but they have a nice indoor practice facility for when the need arises. There’s a fine line between the need to practice in and acclimate to the elements and the need to conduct efficient practices. Sometimes the weather, especially windy weather, renders efficient outdoor practices impractical.
  13. I gotta wonder if some of the responses in this thread would be different if News Corp was buying The Athletic instead.
  14. Canada also gave us one of the coolest astronauts of all time: Chris Hadfield. I mean how cool is it to play the guitar and perform ‘Space Oddity’ while orbiting the earth at 17k miles per hour on the ISS?
  15. I’d take a locker room full of Lee Smith types when it comes to being one of those “glue” guys. Somewhere, there is the audio of him taking Josh aside during a game in his second year (I believe it was the Bengals) and bucking him up after Allen threw an ugly pick that led to a short TD drive by Cinci that tied up the game in the second half and swung the game. He just wasn’t gonna let Allen get down on himself and damned if Josh didn’t lead us to the game wining TD after Cinci took the lead late.
  16. MVVP: Most Valuable Vaccinated Player. 😂 Hey Aaron, how about MVIP: Most Valuable Immunized Player?
  17. A team that has never been to the show and won it.
  18. That would be Pat McInally who had a perfect score. But I’ve heard that Fitz fudged one on purpose so he wouldn’t be seen as a nerd.
  19. How much does intelligence inform decision making because imo, decision making is job one for quarterbacks.
  20. If I had to guess, I’d say the league sees cultural bias in the test. Educators have been trumpeting that for decades about IQ tests, too.
  21. The best stat for evaluating passers. There’s just too much more to the position that can’t be measured by throwing stats. Allen had a craptastic day as a passer, but a very good day as a quarterback.
  22. He spent half the afternoon confusing Dane Jackson with Taron Johnson. His color commentary is broadcasting’s version of Butt Fumble.
