  1. McD’s decisions to go for it on 4h down and convert, did that help the offense “at all?”
  2. Fair enough. But I think that if he’s not in their plans, they will release him sooner rather than later just to give him a better chance to latch on somewhere else. That is if he’s still interested in playing at all.
  3. There’s an old saying in the league, “you bring your team to camp.” I suspect if they bring Cole Beasley to camp then the intent is to keep him. If not, he will be gone before camp starts.
  4. Gee, that’s a shame.
  5. Yep. Sometimes, ya just gotta tip your hat to the other team because they have great players, too.
  6. Because if I have the choice between Mahomes beating me with his arm or his feet, I’m choosing feet every time. One of the reasons why he couldn’t find open guys downfield, especially early on, was because we didn’t have a spy assigned to him. KC is a pick your poison offense, much like ours. I bet some KC fans were wondering why they didn’t double Gabe Davis all game, for instance.
  7. Haven’t we all seen numerous fielded squib kicks immediately downed and the play whistled dead in the past? 1-2 seconds, TOPS. IMO, it should have been a pop up with KC fair catching inside the 10. I have nothing else to say on the matter. Agree entirely with the defensive calls with 13 seconds to go and KC with timeouts to utilize the entire field. Why McD and Frazier chose not to defend the entire field is beyond me and will leave them open to second guessing about it forever. Given how they screwed the pooch defensively in that situation, I wonder if a different kick, squib or pop up, would have made a difference anyway.
  8. That’s why I’ve said several times the right kick would have been a pop up inside the 10 to force them to go the maximum distance. There would be no return regardless. KC was also aware of the critical time element. A pop up kick would have been fair caught and a squib fielded and immediately downed which, again, would have burned 1 or 2 seconds max before the ref blew the play dead.
  9. I understand the rule and as soon as the player fields it and stays down, the whistle is blown. I don’t see how that takes a ref 3-4 seconds. And a squib kick from the 35 down to the 15 is one helluva kick; not a sure thing at all. Although I think Bass has the skill to pull it off. I agree entirely that the time element is the most critical. And so is the distance they had to travel. McD screwed the pooch by playing defense like KC didn’t have three timeouts. Because they had those timeouts, I was in favor of making them go the max distance possible. I think that would have been best achieved by having them fair catch a kick inside the 10. Reasonable minds can disagree on the strategy, but three timeouts was gonna give KC three plays regardless, imo.
  10. I agree that poor coaching decisions made it easier for KC given what they needed. They had three timeouts remaining and had the entire field to work with as a result. They weren’t confined to the sidelines and could still keep it honest. It’s too bad we didn’t elect to keep it honest as well.
  11. Please explain how you eliminate 6-7 seconds with a squib kick? I see 1 or 2 at the most before the ref blows his whistle once the receiver immediately gave himself up, which he would have been told to do by the KC coaches. And the chances are really good that the ball would have been fielded in better field position as you pointed out.
  12. Not something any player should be concerned with in the least. Win or lose, close game or a blow out, it’s always on to the next game. Always.
  13. That’s the beauty of hindsight decisions; they’re never wrong.
  14. I’m think McD called for the onside kick to start OT, but there was a problem with the execution. I’ve heard this from the beat writers and podcasters as well.
  15. Never gets old. Never.
  16. I’m guessing 14.7 psi at ground level outside the stadium, a tad more at field level, and a tad less in the upper level.
  17. I’m just glad the “beat writers” and “podcasters” hold themselves to a high standard of journalistic integrity. Every one of them. 😂 The quote in the OP reads like typical fan projections.
  18. Me, neither. People are entitled to feel any way they choose. I guess I just see a clear delineation between “upset” and “disappointed.” Oh well, onward and upward.
  19. I feel the exact opposite. My concern is that he ever thinks he doesn’t have something to work on. I think that’s what separates the good from the great in all sports; the drive to constantly improve themselves. Allen has that in spades.
  20. Perspective is a powerful drug.
  21. Squib wasn’t the best option as it stood a good chance to just be covered immediately and in better field position than a deep kick. Only one second would have run off because the receiver would have immediately given himself up and the ref would have stopped the clock upon seeing no attempt at a run back. Should have been a pop fly kick off to the middle of the field at the 10. KC would have called a fair catch and while no time would have run off the clock, they would have had to go further than 40 yards to get into FG range. If McD and company feared a run back would hurt them, they were mistaken because Reid wouldn’t have allowed time to be run off on a return attempt.
  22. Yep. Which is why I’m convinced our offense would have scored against an exhausted KC defense as well. While “tired” may be an explanation, it is not an excuse; defense still needs to be played, regardless.
  23. When KC eliminated us in the 2020 AFCCG, I said the ascendancy of Josh and Co. mirrored that of Kelly and the Bills. Both led their Bills teams to the conference title game in their third year in the league. Both lost in the Divisional playoff round in their fourth year in the league. Several of us here also said that like that Bills team of ‘89, playing under the weight of raised expectations might lead to fewer wins this year as the team dealt with being a lead dog. We saw that happen as well. How far will the similarities continue next season? Might we see the first of four consecutive SB appearances? I like our chances.
  24. I appreciate where Costas is coming from and perhaps a full overtime period is warranted. In the meantime, playing defense is still a requirement in overtime and ours went missing. Had we managed to prevent KC from scoring that TD, I doubt KC’s defense would have stopped Allen, either, and we’d all be ok with the OT rules as they sit now.
