Yardage Predictions for Bills Receivers in 2024
NewEra replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall
lol- just hilarious- Cherry pick all you like- Tate- Clay- Webb were all out of the league minutes later. None of which were nfl caliber players. Jordan Matthew’s was a big slow possession WR that the nfl knew was a bum- his big payday was 1- year 1.8M with SF with 300k gtd. He was cut prior the season. Yes- he had a better career than Samuel did to this point. Absolutely- you are correct- now compare the rest- as I’ve discussed with you before 1 WR doesn’t make a unit. Especially when that WR wasn’t considered to good by anyone but statistics. Why don’t you add up the career YpG of the other 5 WR? Because that would ruin your case. Now cherry pick on sentence and move the goal posts. -

Yardage Predictions for Bills Receivers in 2024

Meanwhile- you don’t know who’s better- 2017 Matthews-Zay-Holmes-Tate-clay-Webb or 2024 Samuel- Shakir- Coleman- MVS- Hollins- Claypool because it has to be measured relatively…. As such- you will get clowned -

Too funny- the 2017 and 24 wr units against each other. We aren’t comparing the units relative to the rest of the league. It doesn’t matter how they are ranked league wide- the WR units don’t actually play against each other. They play against opposing defenses. It’s about having capable players for the QB to throw too. Having guys that can make plays. Or in 2017’s case, having guys incapable of making plays. Or staying in the league for more than a season. Example- 2035 and the league is comprised of Justin Jefferson clones. Every team in the league has 6 Justin Jefferson clones except the Bills. The Bills have 6 Brandon Aiyuk clones. Because you “it has to be measured relatively” the 2017 bills WRs might be better than the 2035 bills because the Bills WRs are the worst in the league while the 2017 teams was bottom 5. this is a ridiculous hill to stand on. But I’m enjoying watching you sit there trying to play smart guy. move the goal posts or give us some other analogy of how the 17 WRs aren’t worse than the 24 WRs. hey @GoBills808 which WR do you think is better, 17 or 24? -
I’m hoping I won’t always see him as Claytool. I’m not holding my breath though.

Ok…..so which was worse? 2017 or 2024? -
Do you think he’s a bad coach? Or do you just think we should look to upgrade?

agreed- it’s all speculation at this point- I think there’s enough talent - when mixed with Kincaid, Knox, Cook and Davis, to be a legit title contender come playoff. It’s all on Joe Brady (and the luck of injuries) -

You like to talk a good game- yet you say that: Jordan Matthew Zay jones (rookie season) Andre Holmes Brandon Tate Kaelin Clay Joe Webb is better than Samuel Shakir Coleman MVS Hollins Claypool The last 4 guys in 2017 are complete GARBAGE- none were ever as good as any of the 6 from this season (if that happens to be our 6). You’re basing everything on the fact that Jordan Matthews put up decent stats at that point. He was so good that Philly gave us a 3rd pick AND Matthews for Darby but yeah—- this group is worse than every WR group in the last 40 years 👌 So you mean that this isn’t the worst WR unit in the last 40 years? That’s the rumor -
I agree- he’ll turn heads alright just kidding- I’ve always been an anti chase claypool guy. Now he’s a bill- so i’m rooting for him, I’m just not expecting alot, although i think he’ll be more relevant than he was in Miami. I do agree that he’ll flash and people will be fired up and likely go overboard about how great he’s going to be. His physical being is impressive and if used properly, he’s going to make some plays. I just don’t think there will be many of them. I do think he’ll make the team.

I didn’t know 1 WR made up an entire WR unit….. in 2017 our WRs to start the season were Matthews- Zay jones (rookie season)- Andre Holmes- Brandon Tate and Kaelin Clay and THE Joe Webb but yeah……we haven’t had a worse WR unit in the last 40 years- suuuuure. -

I wasn’t disagreeing- just pointing out I’m not sold on our WR room but I think our passing game can work well IF our run game and 12 personnel can open things up. I think Kincaid/knox/cook/davis will be a big part of our run game. it’s really all about Brady imo. -

So you think the WRs we started the 2017 season are better than this years? Kelvin Benjamin wasn’t on the team- matthews- Zay jones- andre Holmes we added deonte Thompson, who was our leading receiver mid season iirc. Benjamin at the deadline- -
According to PFF Connor McGovern is good

Your point in a thread about connor McGovern being rated as a top 32 OL: the packers OL is better. 😂 but you don’t dump on bills players- got it -

Good point- but do we need him to “break out”? I’m thinking all we need is 700-850 out of him. I expect his best season- but I don’t expect him to be a breakout star. The best example of breaking out late would be Brandon Lloyd (29) who led the nfl in yards with Kyle Orton throwing him the ball. Joe Horn entered the league at 24 but didn’t break out until year 5, age 28. To a lesser extent Welker was 26- Bob woods 26. samuel also had some of the worst QBs in the nfl throwing him the ball his entire career. -

Yes- but that wouldn’t be dumping on the Bills. thread about connor McGovern gets morphed into the Bills OL sucks. So typical of the poster. Doesn’t just dump on the player being discussed- rather the entire OL. 😂 -

I wouldn’t say they are a dime a dozen- rather just not necessary to win a SB -

If you’d like to go by stats: -Chase claypool had back to back 860+ yard seasons -Samuel- had 851 yard in his season with Joe Brady -MVS won back to back super bowls as starting outside WR -Keon Coleman drafted higher than Zay Jones -Shakir- an obvious ascending player that led the league in catch% was among leaders in most efficiency categories You thought Benjamin was a WR1 - got it -

We don’t even have to go back past 2018 to be worse. 2017 maybe even worse than that. -

All of this is correct good post- we should also recognize that the last 3 Super Bowl champs were lacking true outside matchup winners. Some may say OBj with the rams- but he only played 24 snaps in the SB averaged 38 yards per game. Doesn’t seem like the problem keeps teams from winning the Super Bowl. -

Does anyone know anything about the blocking scheme Dallas used when McGovern played C there? I have no clue myself, but that can have a huge impact on an OLmen performance -
The Bills have over $10 million in cap space- what is Beane’s plan?
NewEra replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
I could see that. other than that type of move- I think he should sit on it and see how things go while also keeping tabs on cuts -
He was “surprising good” last season to me. He’s a helluva player and an elite slot corner imo. He might be the most important piece to our defenses success based on what he’s asked to do playing 80-100% of the snaps I never said Cook was elite- not sure why the convo shifted to him.
