Dion Dawkins “not close to where he needs to be to help us”
eball replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I looked at the first couple of pages of this thread and all I can say is that @dpberr seems to have a vomiting problem. Not sure what that’s all about. -
Overreaction Saturday…whatcha got after BUF/DET?
eball replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now THIS is a great addition to the thread. Bobby Hart sucked Friday night and we all saw it, but by adding “worst sports player ever” you took it into overreaction mode. Well done. -
Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 1
eball replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The great news is that we’re having this conversation about a guy trying to latch on as a #3 QB, not debating whether he should be starting (a la Peterman in 2017). -
Justin Fields hasn’t had the most inspiring start to his career.

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 1

I don’t want anyone to misinterpret my comments to mean I want Fromm playing regular season minutes for the Bills or that I think he could be a legit #2 to Josh at this point. I would like to see him get a chance with something other than 3rd and 4th stringers, though. -
Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 1

This is a question I hope we never have to see answered…as least not with Fromm in a Buffalo Bills uniform. -
Please tell me you typed this through dictation or something and didn’t proofread. THEIR. THEIR. THEIR.

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 1
eball replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You (and many of us) knew Peterman was a mirage. That one wasn’t really very hard to call. Fromm is a different guy. He didn’t play at Pittsburgh, he played at Georgia, at a high level, and no, he doesn’t have a rifle arm but I saw some zip last night. The one he sort of sidearmed over the middle was a dart, just a good breakup by the defender because our 8th string WR couldn’t get separation. And as noted above, the pass to Stevenson was a big boy throw. Fitzy would have had to throw his whole body into that one. I think it’s very possible Fromm is better than Webb. As I noted this morning, Webb didn’t really impress me at all. He completed some very easy misdirection play throws to wide open receivers. -
I was going to come in here to say Tua looked pretty good and then he threw that brutal interception. Oy. Gesicki is a beast, though. Probably their best offensive player.

I think now you’re exaggerating to prove a point. I rewatched that throw. It was not a “chuck” at all; it was an impressive throw (without a big wind up or stride) that went 45 yards in the air right into Stevenson’s hands. I don’t think Fromm is Peterman Part II. He may not ever be a starter in the league but I didn’t see what you saw, and while I absolutely respect and enjoy your contributions to this board, your QB evaluations have not been infallible. -
Lots of threads and comments about who looked good/bad so I won’t rehash that. What are some of your boldest takes after one preseason game? Mine: Hodgins is in trouble; one catch but then hurt again, and Stevenson made big-time plays in crunch time. Cody Ford is back and will be one of our best O-lineman. With Davis Webb looking competent Mitch Trubisky could be traded.

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 1

Good stuff on Rousseau. As for Obada’s hit, I still don’t think it was dirty. Just watched it again; he didn’t go for the knees and really just tried to wrap the QB’s leg up at the ankle. It was a bad call in my opinion. Side note: does anyone know if it is O-BAH-da or O-ba-DAH? -

If you’d like to give Ed a 1/2 sack be my guest. I was just reflecting on why the official stats credit the sack to Groot. No matter who is credited the line did a great job on that play. -
Training Camp Darling Kumerow---did he even show up yesterday?

For a Big Turk you sure laid a Big Turd with this thread. -

Goff felt Groot’s hand and then turtled. Ed arrived a fraction of a second later. -

All things considered that was a pretty damned successful preseason game. We sat 15 starters, saw some really good stuff out of our 1st round draft pick, and proved that this team has some decent depth (outside of CB). Not going to complain. -
Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 1

Guilty as charged! Although a Lion did make that awful helmet-to-helmet hit on one of our punt returns. -
We need to cut 5 players. Who are they?
eball replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good point above about keeping Hart so there’s someone to play OT the next two weeks. Just make sure Trubisky, Webb, and Fromm know to roll every play away from his side. -

I don’t know…he didn’t go at Boyle’s knees at all; it looked to me like an effort to tackle him at his ankles, which happens all the time. I’ll have to watch it again. In any event, it’s nice to be debating who is the better 3rd or 4th string QB for the Bills. -

Yeah, maybe. I think he still winds up on the PS. -

I just finished watching the game and my immediate post-game reaction was: cut Hart. He was brutal. So happy to see that Rousseau appears to be ready for prime time. Roughing call on Obada was complete b.s. I “get” the call on Boogie but it was borderline also. I thought Boogie had his struggles but also flashed a few times. Agree with your take on CB depth. I’ll add Stevenson to the “good night” column. Showed excellent hands and displayed some of that speed. I’ll give him a pass for taking that last kickoff out of the end zone as he was just trying to make a play. I was less enthusiastic about Webb’s play. I guess it was gameplanning but absolutely nothing down the field, and a couple of those throwaways were questionable. Really bad play on the intentional grounding; I don’t expect that from a guy everyone says is so smart. He threw the pass to Sweeney on his inside shoulder or that could have been an even bigger play. I think Fromm had a decent outing. No chance on those sacks. Put the ball in good position on most of his throws (missed Duke on the deep one) and he was the only Bills QB to go downfield with the ball. Really liked the emphasis on the running game and agree that Motor looked great. It was only one play but an excellent CATCH in a tight window by Knox. -
