The rg3 trade came to mind with the Rams. They turned it into: Brockers Jenkins Pead Ogletree Bailey Robinson 3 1st round picks - and some change. None of these players were the main catalyst for turning the franchise around. Robinson was an outright bust at #2 overall. Then the rams moved up for Goff - and Tennessee got Corey Davis, Henry, conklin, Austin Johnson. These big trades are also confusing as hell to follow since they almost always have further trades either up or down.

DaQuan Jones a backup 1 technique addition

Last year of his rookie deal - he hasn't exactly lit it up out there either. In 2019 he was everyones favorite whipping boy - replaced by edmunds in 2020. It was constant talk of - star getting moved by 1 guy, star generating no push, star not occupying his gap... etc. He was better at it than Oliver and Zimmer - who arent 1Ts. But lets not act like he was all-pro. -
Sammy Watkins to Ravens

Agreed. He had a nice year with Roman as well. He's a nice boundary route runner and he tracks deep throws fairly well. Him and brown should be a solid pair for their offense. -
Eagles trade pick 6 to Dolphins

What did I say that was wrong? That's a list of good tight ends, taken outside the first. Maybe Hockenson will be the best tight end in the league, but through 2 years he did not boost their offense from the bottom 3rd in the league. Same with fant, Ebron, Hurst etc. The 30th pick is the 3rd to last 1st round pick. It has a massively different value than pick 4 or 5. That is not arguable. Anyway, I'm ignoring you so don't bother responding. -

If you believe in chase/smith at a tier above the rest - you go back up to guarantee one. -
I wasn't a big fan of the 1st round picks he made in 2020. Didn't love Tua, jackson or Igbinoghene. Tunsil and minkah for jackson and Igbinoghene (they do obviously have the other pick from the tunsil trade which is more valuable than both). But those are major downgrades at important positions. But he also has made some smart moves - did the tear down post tannehill. Found some good foundational pieces, and maximized trade value for players. But 2 of the probably best 3 players he drafted, he traded. Absolutely - maximized the value of the pick and still very likely get a player right at the top of their board.

In the past i always preached higher ceiling BPA because the team lacked stars. Now the team has several in Allen, Diggs, Tre. Now a lower floor player who can contribute in 2021 is also in the cards. I think a big nickel player is something to look at in rounds 2-3. I'd think the same at CB opposite tre, or offensive line. I'm not super sold on a running back in the first, but its one of those see how it falls situations. If there isn't a player you love in the first, try and move back. -

I don't like TE's in the first - you didn't really convince me. Especially when Kittle, Waller, Gronk, Kelce, Ertz were not 1st round picks. Neither were Geisicki, Goedert, Andrews, Jonnu smith, Henry, Hooper. Also - TE's rarely have an impact in their rookie year. I'm sure there's examples but usually there's a bit of a development curve. Would I take pitts at 30? Probably - but he won't be there anyway. But 30 is barely a 1st round pick. A TE at 4 or 5 would be like the highest drafted TE ever (I think davis and winslow were picked at 6). Had that Maybin syndrome - he didn't really seem to have a passion for football. -

No knock on him - he's a good player - I just think a WR has a greater impact on offense. If i asked the lions do you want hockenson or dk metcalf/aj brown what would they say? Fantasy means absolutely nothing when comparing players. It just means he got the ball thrown to him more - possibly as a direct result of golladay playing in only 5 games. So the targets yards and stats aren't crazy impactful. -

Maybe stop spending 1st round picks on TEs when you don't have receivers or QBs then? I dunno what to tell ya. -

Agreed. Their defense is not the juggernaut that people believe it is. If they leave it as is it could bite them a bit. Buffalo put up almost 1000 yards and 87 points in 2 games. They dominated the jets twice, the 49ers with a mid-game QB switch, non-burrow bengals, and jags. -

Fuller being on a 1yr deal makes me think its someone like devonta smith who they can bring along slowly, and kick outside next year. -

They said that about Hockenson and Fant. Engram... Howard... I'm not a big fan of TEs in the first. I feel like they're rarely the impact players they're supposed to be, espeically on the rookie deal. Like who are the best TEs in the NFL - Kelce, Kittle, Waller, and probably Andrews. None were acquired in the first. -
Do WR’s hate Lamar Jackson ?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Teddy KGB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Talented TEs definitely help. I feel like the WR route tree is like fly, hitch, out, comeback. And that reads into the high low half field read. -

2015, on only 96 targets too. That was that year where Tyrod was money on the deep ball. Romans offense never has stuff over the middle. Didn't with Kaep, didnt with tyrod, doesnt with LJ. Too much turnover potential, and the offense is built around not turning it over. QBs buy time, but they take lots of sacks. Probably preferable to take off and run if the teams in man. -

Dead last in pass attempts the last 2 years. Brown has 171 targets over 2 years. Andrews has more. -

Addison and butler would be the closest connections I can think of regarding anyone he's played with on Buffalo. I assume Beane probably scouted him, but he was signed after beane left carolina. -

The team was never good at running the ball under daboll. 8th in rushing but 500 of the 2000 total came from the QB. Most of allens rushing yards come on QB scrambles, so those are in a way pass plays - just like sacks. -

I think Cam is likely the starter, and his career after the MVP season is about as good as it gets with him. Having Agholor, Edelman, Bourne takes them from having by far the worst WR corps in the nfl, to something in the bottom third. The TEs are solid chain movers, cam is a solid short yardage option. They will be better on offense. The defense is still good - van noy fills a place they were sorely missing. They should be better against the run, and Judon is a solid player. I look at them like they went from a bad 7-9 to a good 9-7. -

My thing is - Miami's defense vastly overperformed last year. Their offense will get some boost - but I don't fear a defense that is so insanely turnover dependent. It helped keep their tua offense afloat, but they got absolutely exposed in a must win week 17 game. Tua will be better, but i think their defense will be worse. The offenses they held under 20: Rams (their best game), 49ers (Jimmy G hurt mid-game), Jags, Patriots week 15, Bengals (no burrow), and NYJ twice. 15 turnovers across 7 games and they won all 7. They were 3-6 with wins against LAC, LVR, ARI - with losses to bills x2, kc, seattle, NE, Denver. NE has added a lot of pieces, but i'm not sure that was necessarily to contend with and beat buffalo. Their offense will be better with more weapons, and their defense added some front 7 talent. But they didn't add major impact pieces either. The Jets were arguably the worst team in the league last year - they are probably starting over at QB. I'm not considering them an option. -
That stalemate can be the difference between 4 and 10+ yards on a run though. Too often the mis-cast 1T guys this year were getting moved out of their gaps, pulling linemen were able to make plays at the 2nd level. Him plugging that gap helps that interaction occur closer to the LOS, or forces the running back to adjust where they're going.
