  1. It has been a pretty slow off season for me!
  2. I keep a close eye on traffic behind me. When I am on cruise at 72mph, passing someone doing 70mph and I see a vehicle approaching at 80, I accelerate long enough to pass and not be in their way (traffic permitting, natch). My beef is when I am on cruise and someone else passes me and slows down, so I pass them, and they speed up and pass me again, yadda yadda. One bullet would not be enough.
  3. I just do what they do. I pretend they do not exist and keep on walking - they will move.
  4. Thanks to all! I was wandering around NYC from the late afternoon until catching a train to New Haven just before midnight. I am getting pretty good at navigating the city. My buddy took off to the Port Authority to catch a bus back to Jersey and I found Grand Central Station on my own to catch the Metro North. Some of you will be impressed by that feat, and locals will say "big deal, dummy! GOD I LOVE NY!
  5. SQ If we need all three we are screwed.
  6. If you want to discuss something, at least be reasonable! I have friends who do not go to "live" NFL games because of drunken fans, crowds in general, profanity, traffic jams, etc. These same fans love watching the NFL on their 51" plasma TV at home with friends! I try to go to every opening day in Buffalo and one snow game. The only weather I HATE is 33 degrees and pouring rain! I would love a SB in Buffalo to bring some $$ to the area. Moving a December game against Miami in December to a dome in Toronto really ticks me off, but it is not my call. Should I switch to hockey?
  7. Have you seen my new avatar?
  8. Corrected: Have you seen this team play <cut> lately?
  9. Did you mean two stevestojans? Sorry I could not resist!
  10. I hear Mexico City is worse than Cancun. Too bad the wedding is not in Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, or Puerto Vallarta! Bring a pillow, some movies and books, take a nap, and have a couple Sols with the locals!
  11. Hawkeye would make sense. Yes, the Avengers have had a zillion members since about 1962, but corporate crossovers get complicated. I could see an Avengers movie and a separate Justice League movie, though. NOT Marvel: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Bat Girl, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Green Giant , and all the other characters related to Batman. Didn't Disney buy Marvel recently?
  12. "Albums" Beach Boys - Holland (excellent and semi-obscure) Bela Fleck and the Flecktones - Flight of the Cosmic Hippo (blu-bop) Rusted Root - When I Woke (includes the already mentioned Send Me On My Way) Mark Knopfler - The Ragpicker's Dream (Knopfler from Dire Straits) Jimi Hendrix - Axis Bold As Love The Who - Tommy Grand Funk Railroad - On Time Robbie Robertson and the Red Road Ensemble - Coyote Drum Song (Native American) Steppenwolf - Monster Taj Mahal - The Real Thing The Band - first three albums Weezer - 1994 self titled with songs "Buddy Holly", "Undone - The Sweater Song" Crash Test Dummies - God Shuffled His Feet
  13. I quit smoking cigaettes in 1994 and do not miss it at all. I DO have 3 or 4 cigars a YEAR at tailgates, or some other fitting occasion, but have zero urge to do it regularly. Quitting cigarettes was the hardest thing I ever did. I started smoking when I was about 13 because it was cool (duh) and continued for just over three decades. Congrats!
  14. I was called out of town the weekend of May 1st, and did not do the MS Walk in Rochester. HOWEVER - I did arrange to have a team of about a dozen friends/family walk for me and all donations are logged and received (even the checks to the NMSS) for the Rochester walk. The wife and I did our own MS Walk Sunday morning in Manhattan. This was after the failed SUV bomb, through the middle of an anti-nuke protest, and fittingly - an MS Bike Tour intersected our walk. Mission accomplished and $1,225 raised!! Team Photo: Keep On Truckin' My interesting week included a trip to Bubba Gump Shrimp on Broadway and 44th Saturday night. As we finished dinner we were informed by our waitress that the police put a lock down on the building and we could not leave. We watched through the second floor windows, as dozens of emergency vehicles, NYPD, NYFD, black SUVs with black suits and cell phones, as well as bomb squadders in flack vests with semi-automatics secured a now empty Times Square. We were able to get some pretty good speculation on what was going on by calling friends who passed on reports from the news as best they could. God, CNN is populated with morons but better than nothing. Oddly no one was alarmed, it was NY after all, and we were efficiently and calmly evacuated after about a half hour. Broadway was barricaded from about 42nd to 46th. We hung around a little bit, but the crowd was too compacted. Thousands of people were walking TOWARDS the barricades to see what was up. We went back the next morning and figured we were about 1000 feet from the bomb vehicle that did not ignite. It was around the corner enough that we would not been hurt. We would have heard it and felt the concussion. It would have been very serious on 45th near Broadway for anyone on the street. Never a dull moment, it seems!
  15. Did you know your avatar's real first name is Steve (Rogers), Nick?
  16. How old is Steve? Is he older than you?
  17. The Last Bump Total Raised so far $1,225. I will be away from my PC until perhaps the middle of next week. The MSWalk 2010 is on 5/2 - Sunday - but you can keep sponsoring me if you would like. Full walk report with photos asap. Just wanted to say thanks to all who sponsored me or just wished me "good luck"!
  18. I like many beers and always like to try something new. One recent bottled favorite was McSorleys Irish Pale Ale. It is good bottled beer but you HAVE to experience the pub in NY. The bar is the main artery of the Old Ale House. You will notice no stools, standing room only (three deep at times) – the original taps, no longer in use. The old ice chest, houses sodas, the only drink other than ale permissible. You'll find no cash register at McSorley's – there's never been one and probably never will. A sign above states "We Trust Here" and shows a pig's behind! Above the bar, wishbones gather many generations worth of dust from their perch on the old gas lamp. Look closely and you'll spot an original wanted poster for Abe Lincoln's assassin as well as Babe Ruth's farewell photo from Yankee stadium (a donation from the photographer-a regular himself) McSorley's Old Ale House est. 1854
  19. I PM'ed my address. Checks made out to the MS Society are fine! Thanks so much!
  20. This would make a GREAT Hallmark card.
  21. I was only bitching that ESPN decided giving Holmgren a BJ was more important than covering the Bills pick. I would have felt the same regardless of the team they ignored. As far as analysts, I do not base opinions on what ESPN provides. It get$ to a point where you can only budget $o much between internet, cable, and phone. NFL Network i$ not on cable, and DTV only carrie$ the YE$ network (a nece$$ity by choice in my hou$e) on their mo$t ex$pen$ive premium package. FYI: The only thing I understood in your post was the last sentence.
  22. There is no doubt where the Bills rank in NFL interest. They spent the whole time of the Bills countdown talking to Holmgren and ignored it when their choice was made. Then they went to commercial, came back and did a token mention of the pick and switched to ESPN2 :worthy: :worthy:
  23. The big question, will the Wall do a Rosen tonight? Tick Tock Tick Tock Tick Tock
