  1. Went to commercial for the Browns pick.
  2. I hate seeing the pick on the phone to the player before the announcement.
  3. Best I ever did was a nine minute mile, in the first mile of a real 10K not on a treadmill. Finished with an 11 minute mile average.
  4. Nah, I usually do the fund raising and family and friends walk with me. And that is no slacker, that is my youngest daughter! Another daughter has her own team today in New Haven. She was hoping to run the 5 miles in training for a "half" marathon.
  5. Take a deep breath, hold the wife's hand, and do not let her sense your worry. First things first - Feed her only good thoughts and look forward to the new young'un. How old is your first? I will pray the complications turn out to not be complicated. It will take some time to adjust to the job loss, but things will work out. Fill out the unemployment forms. sign up for COBRA Once things settle down a bit, your job is now finding another job. I feel your pain. I have an interview with Wells Fargo Monday. If it is right, I will start a new career again. If not not something else will work out. COBRA is now cheaper (my contribution) than when I was employed and benefits should be guaranteed for 15 months. I went through the same angst myself because MS medication alone is now close to $3,000 a month for me. Good luck! Rock
  6. Just a friendly weekend bump. Thanks to all my sponsors for the May 2nd MS Walk!
  7. Seeds and Stems Again Blues - saw them do this live in Buffalo around 1972!
  8. I spend less than $200 a season on chemicals. Even if I drained and cleaned the pool, and then refilled the 25K gallons I would still have to spend money to maintain a clean pool. If you can keep it clean. it is easy and not expensive to maintain. Extreme water problems are a nightmare to reverse! I have the concrete/gunnite walls that get stained over time; I would love to drain it to put in a liner or paint it, purely for aesthetics.
  9. 1964: Beatles A: Eight Days a Week B: I Don't Want to Spoil the Party 1969 - Creedence Clearwater Revival A: Proud Mary B: Born on the Bayou God that makes me feel old!
  10. That would be OHS: Operator Head Space.
  11. Canada can be kind of frigid! Two nuts = two brains Good one, Diane!!
  12. TEAM total (team = two people) is $925 (my personal total is $900). We are 10th in the top 20 teams. Thanks - still a few weeks to go!
  13. I know some dogs who are better than some people.
  14. Try regularly smoking 30 joints a day!
  15. The more smokeless weeks you log, the less you will miss it. I promise.
  16. I smoke maybe three or four cigars a year. I had a pack-a-day plus addiction for 30 years. Have not had a cigarette since 1994, and ran a 10K in 1996! Just to say I could!
  17. First team I coached only won two games (one "win" was a forfeit when the other team did not show up)! Win or lose they got ice cream cones after every game, just to make it more fun. Kids need to win and to lose - to learn sportsmanship. I never understood not keeping score.
  18. As a past little league coach, I would advise you keep parents off the field! Remind them "It is not baseball, it is a tool for teaching baseball rules, motor skills, teamwork, and coordination, while getting childrens 21st century butts off the couch, while HAVING FUN so maybe they will want to graduate to baseball. My best baseball player was my youngest daughter. She played fast pitch underhand softball. She was a rightie but the coach had her bunt leftie to put her a few steps closer to first base to try to outrun the throw or cause an error. Best basketball player was my middle daughter. She was not tall (5ft) and getting discouraged, so I got her a "Muggsy" Bogues sports card. Bogues was the shortest player ever to play in the NBA, at 5' 3" Bogues - point guard for the Washington Bullets, Golden State Warriors, and the Toronto Raptors during his 14-season career in the National Basketball Association. 19. HFBD President Crippen!
  20. I was thinking the same thing! Discipline is good, but boot camp in pro football is arguably bad.
  21. I am a bit late in seeing this but I am so sorry. I have had to deal with family suicide. Those who decide they have no choice but to end their lives have NO idea how terrible and painful it is for the loved ones who have to keep on going. You could not have stopped this from happening and it is not your fault. love and a big hug, tom
  22. Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.
  23. If you are going to see a movie you really can't wait to see, do not tell anyone before you go. Inevitably, someone will tell you to "wait for the DVD to come out", "it was SO long I fell asleep", or "it was great but he dies at the end". Do not forget my favorite "the book was so much better."
  24. ...and just to clarify, I worked my entire life and never asked for a handout. I was fine until the past three years - and even then I have only collected unemployent insurance for maybe 4 or 5 months since the end of 2007. Not all the past 'stoners' still live that life. Most of us moved on to very productive careers, just like any generation. The lazy bastids whose only goal is to get high all day and live off my taxes are a waste of DNA.
  25. Yes, I remember it well: Summer of 1973 Hanging in the woods of north Jersey Lots of pot smoking. Making music and lying back. ** Plotting violent crimes in between smoking doobies *** Too wasted to run anywhere.
