  1. The only first-round offensive line draft picks we've had since like the Reagan administration are Ruben Brown, Mike Williams, and Eric Wood. That’s why this team consistently sucks.
  2. I'm not a McDermott fan, but if he lost the team (and he has) with his milquetoast brand of coaching, how do you think they'll respond to Harbaugh? Guy is way too hyper and intense; the goal should be to find a coach that can get Allen right again by calming his ass down.
  3. Let's be honest...Gregg Williams, Mike Mularkey, Dick Jauron, Chan Gailey, Doug Marrone, Rex Ryan... Do any of these guys not make the playoffs if gifted Diggs and Allen (our star QB who the current regime seems to be ruining)? At least those teams had heart.
  4. Ever notice how McDermott, the vaunted defensive coach, never schemes up a stop when we need it most. I mean...never.
  5. I don't think this was the rule then. Several teams that year wore different colored helmets. Denver switched from blue to orange in this particular game.
  6. Best pure tackler I can remember watching. Textbook, every single time. I also loved Clements for his playmaking ability. Great duo at the time.
  7. Officiating is absolutely terrible, and the league covers for it at every juncture. I hate when they bring the retired refs on the broadcast to agree with whatever ludicrous decision the officials just made.
  8. Preseason practices are now all essential walk-throughs, too many regular season games, London games, Thursday games, turf fields...the NFL could fix a lot of things to lead to fewer injuries but that would lead to a loss of a fraction of the money they make
  9. I hate to be too negative about him because he has been solid, but you can just tell by looking at that guy that he is going to miss a massive kick eventually. Big-time Norwood energy.
  10. Exactly. Pretty borderline (I think you could even argue the NE defender initiated the contact), but those points were the difference in the game. Also the PI on Benford at the end. I saw nothing, and it stopped the clock and gave NE a 1st down, essentially assuring the win. Or the defensive holding on the Floyd sack on 3rd down that gave NE a 1st down at the 20 when we had them out of FG range. All of those calls are totally subjective, but can be seismic in the right spots.
  11. I've always suspected that it's an infraction that only exists so that the league can manipulate games towards outcomes they see as favorable, whether that be keeping games interesting or even benefiting one team over another. It's only a five-yard penalty, so it never grabs too much attention, but it consistently pops up to bail teams out on what were failed 3rd/4th downs.
  12. Today was the full McD experience: - team flat as hell for 2.5 quarters - one or two dumb timeout usages - vaunted defense that he crafted can't get a stop when sorely needed
  13. If they don't reach a Super Bowl, McDermott will go down as the coach who choked away a championship in 2021, and Beane will be remembered for lucking into Allen before blowing multiple high-round picks on defensive players rather than offensive weapons for his QB. And that's how they should be remembered.
  14. Guy's being pretty mouthy for chronically underachieving with a top-5ish all-time QB...in a dome, no less.
  15. Shaud Williams was featured on an episode of Da Ali G Show starring Sacha Baron Cohen.
  16. Pat Williams and Sam Adams were let go so that we could focus on smaller DTs who could supposedly get pressure more quickly. Enter McCargo and Larry Tripplett. Good Lord. It would difficult to have a bigger downgrade at a position if you were actively trying to sabotage a team.
  17. A dome team didn't win the Super Bowl until 2000, and only three have ever won - all had homefield advantage. There's a LOT of evidence that they struggle in the playoffs.
  18. One loss last year to another cold-weather team doesn't negate decades of games where the weather was an advantage for the Bills. The answer is to maybe figure out a way to stop being such a finesse team that gets pushed around by more physical squads.
  19. He had arguably the greatest postseason performance ever in a game when it was 0 degrees outside. I'm never not amazed by the amount of Bills fans who think a domed stadium should be built, forever eliminating their weather advantage, so that a then-30-year old QB can benefit from it for a few years.
  20. They packed it in the minute Hamlin got taken off the field. The only reason they beat NE the following week is because they got two special teams TDs, and they only reason they beat Miami the week after that was because the Dolphins were totally decimated. They just quit on the year. Yeah, they went through a lot in one season, but so do plenty of people whose annual salary is 1/4 of an NFL player's weekly game check.
  21. Not really worry about defense since it doesn't particularly matter anymore, as you saw in the SB when two great defenses were both shredded. The most important thing in the draft, bar none, is getting Allen more protection on the offensive line. If he starts getting time, we start scoring 35+ points/game.
  22. Our line still sucks, yes? That is still the most pressing need.
  23. People with low IQs really aren't cognitively able to learn from the past or think about future consequences. They can only live in the present.
