Trading up to get QB's has been happening. Can you imagine if someone did trade up in front of us and picked a QB that went on to have a great 12 year NFL career? Of course speculation would always be would that have been the guy the Bills would have picked anyway, but my point is the Bills can no longer be scared to be wrong. Pick a damn QB at 8 and lets go.
We are agreeing. Even if there was an RG3 and a Luck in this years draft at pick #8 with that many teams ahead of us that need a QB or would most assuredly take one to get a guy like them, we wouldn't have a shot. Unless we were willing to mortgage any opportunity to build other positions through the draft for several years. So we would be in a position to choose from the real good QB's anyway.
I think the Bills would entertain trading back but not as far back as some folks suggest. They won't risk losing Nassib who I believe they will take with their 1st round pick. If I'm wrong on Nassib it's only the player not the position, I believe they take a QB with their first pick. They need every pick they have so I don't think they will pick say a LB with their first pick to either have to trade picks to get back up or roll the dice that the QB of choice is there in the second.
I can't remember who posted yesterday something to the effect "They can't continue worrying about being wrong on a QB. It's time to pick one and let's run with it"
And it's exactly why I agreed with you. I'ts pretty clear to me that a culture change is happening quickly. I'm not saying this is something totally unique to Marrone, just simply saying it's going on. Heck our two free agent signees didn't even know about our playoff drought. I'm not trying to make too big of a deal about it but there's a positive buzz and I'm happy with it. Of course to sustain it we have to play well and win.
I agree totally which is why I'll never loathe Gailey. Yes that wildcat at the most unopportune times drove me nuts but that defense was historically terrible. Gailey at least gave us a watchable offense which we hadn't had in years. Under Jauron I was doubting we'd get two first downs in a row.
And lastly I agree that there is a lot of talent on this team and most certainly on that side of the ball.
You're never back in order until you have a QB. Wishing Nassib was there at #31 is a risky proposition if he's the QB you like. Most teams aren't totally stacked and if they are it doesn't last long and it blows up.
Yeah cause we don't have any "solid vets". We only have crappy Mario Williams, Anderson, and now Lawson. We would desperately need him to come in and be our number one pass rusher.
I think you're giving too much credit to Nassib for being able to sell tickets. The fans will eventually rally around any QB if they take one. That's just how we are.
Would it make you feel better if someone else told you? Do you honestly think he's giving away secrets?
Ssshhhh Buddy don't tell anyone we need a franchise QB and another WR.
Frank Summers (The Tank) is interesting to me. 5'9" 248 is a load. 5th round pick in 2009 of the Steelers and spent some time in San Diego so some obvious ties there. He's got good hands for someone with that build from what I've read. I could see him having a legitimate shot being a short yardage specialist, which to me is a second level need for this team.
I live in Charlotte NC where there's a ton of NC State grads. They became ultra disappointed with Glennon because he can sling it, but rarely did. They said he's a checkdown machine that gets very antsy in the pocket way too soon. I know this means absolutely nothing but to me he looks like a big goofball.
I went to a Canes Sabres game last year and there was definitely hostility. I actually sold two of my tickets on craigslist and the guy that bought them from me said "I would have never bought these from you if I knew you were a Buffalo fan". We beat them and there was a lot of yelling from Buffalo fans and Canes fans were getting pissed. I think there's a growing hatred towards us up there.
