  1. I disagree. Taylor doesn't trust himself and I wish he would. It's a double edged sword though because I like that he doesn't turn the ball over. He likes to see the guy open then pull the trigger and he's got enough arm strength to do it - however sometimes throwing when the WR is open it has to be thrown so quick he forces himself to be inaccurate at times. Boldin doesn't get wide open but he makes the tough tough catches for his QB - that's not a marriage for Taylor. I think a guy that gets separation is what works with Taylor. I hope Listenbee becomes that receiver. For example Tyrod doesn't throw these type: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVdf7m_1GpE
  2. Even though we don't have one?
  3. Boldin would not be the type of WR that could help Tyrod.
  4. IMO, most improved Bill was Shady.
  5. This is how a great pass rush can make a 5th round LB look like an all pro. I appreciate you giving us a glimpse of what McDermott plans to do.
  6. INteresting idea
  7. Brown won't be difficult to replace. This is where Whaley excels.
  8. You don't see any difference in trading a player in his last contract year vs a player with 2 more years? There's no comparison to you wanting to trade Gilmore last year and what the Seahawks are exploring - and certainly no reason to say this is what good teams do.
  9. I won't profess to know his game all that well but from the little I've read - it seems he often overruns to get to the passer and gets beat in the run game because of the QB pursuit. I think another knock is he's described as somewhat "tight hipped". Again, not saying he can't convert but I see him as a part time pass rush specialist that could earn additional playing time as he learns to understand the other responsibilities of the DE position. To add to your point about his skills dictating a higher draft position than you'd be willing to entertain - I'd add that would probably also ring true for a team running a 3-4. A team running a 4-3 would be interested in him at a higher draft position than a 3-4 looking to convert him would.
  10. I always enjoy your posts when you stop by and visit us. Honestly not just because of the compliments - you bring calm fair minded opinions.
  11. Not that I want Sherman but there's a place in every defense for a great man coverage CB.
  12. There's a lot of guys 6'4" and 248 - that doesn't mean you can cover. He's a defensive end in a 4-3 and he'd only be an OLB in a 3-4. I'm not saying he can't cover or can't convert to an OLB but in a 4-3 that just wouldn't make sense.
  13. We don't have a 4th round draft pick and if we don't draft one in the first 2 rounds I don't think we'll draft one at all. I don't believe we'll have Tyrod, Jones and a rookie late round pick in the QB room.
  14. Looks like a DE to me
  15. I'm not an expert by any means on x's and o's but I do think we're slightly misinterpreting the zone Carolina played. It's not a bend but don't break prevent zone. It's dependent on the front 4 to put pressure on the QB and the zone is meant to confuse the offense on who's covering who. It's meant to force the offense into doing something quicker than they want to and slip by not knowing player X knew to be there (communication). Last year Carolina did not have the personnel to execute what they did the previous few years. Last year they were forced to play differently but Mcdermott's defense is an exciting scheme to watch. Will it take us another year to put all the pieces together - probably, but it is not a sit back and let them do whatever they want in front of you defense.
  16. Mcdermott seems like the real deal on defense. Whoever he wants - I'm ok with him getting.
  17. I'm still upset Kelly forced the team to go with the red helmets.
  18. I think so - it's not like he's an unknown. He played well enough before the injury to be in the discussion as a QB in the top 5 in this draft.
  19. There's no such thing as a calculated high percentage way to land a QB. On a side note; look up the word desperate and it's antonyms - damn right I want them acting desperate to land a QB.
  20. I'd go with Clements as well. I think his overall toughness would be the deciding factor for me. Nearly identical tackles and interception rates.
  21. "anybody not on board (with) drafting a QB at 10 is a (an) idiot." You've got a long way to go before you call anyone an idiot.
