  1. There's a lot of guys 6'4" and 248 - that doesn't mean you can cover. He's a defensive end in a 4-3 and he'd only be an OLB in a 3-4. I'm not saying he can't cover or can't convert to an OLB but in a 4-3 that just wouldn't make sense.
  2. We don't have a 4th round draft pick and if we don't draft one in the first 2 rounds I don't think we'll draft one at all. I don't believe we'll have Tyrod, Jones and a rookie late round pick in the QB room.
  3. Looks like a DE to me
  4. I'm not an expert by any means on x's and o's but I do think we're slightly misinterpreting the zone Carolina played. It's not a bend but don't break prevent zone. It's dependent on the front 4 to put pressure on the QB and the zone is meant to confuse the offense on who's covering who. It's meant to force the offense into doing something quicker than they want to and slip by not knowing player X knew to be there (communication). Last year Carolina did not have the personnel to execute what they did the previous few years. Last year they were forced to play differently but Mcdermott's defense is an exciting scheme to watch. Will it take us another year to put all the pieces together - probably, but it is not a sit back and let them do whatever they want in front of you defense.
  5. Mcdermott seems like the real deal on defense. Whoever he wants - I'm ok with him getting.
  6. I'm still upset Kelly forced the team to go with the red helmets.
  7. I think so - it's not like he's an unknown. He played well enough before the injury to be in the discussion as a QB in the top 5 in this draft.
  8. There's no such thing as a calculated high percentage way to land a QB. On a side note; look up the word desperate and it's antonyms - damn right I want them acting desperate to land a QB.
  9. I'd go with Clements as well. I think his overall toughness would be the deciding factor for me. Nearly identical tackles and interception rates.
  10. "anybody not on board (with) drafting a QB at 10 is a (an) idiot." You've got a long way to go before you call anyone an idiot.
  11. You've got serious issues. Glaringly as it is, it's not your sentence structure I'm referring to.
  12. Go through the door marked enter/entrar
  13. Gordon seems like such a nice young man - it really baffles me that he's been so reckless with his choices. Because of his likeability, I can't help but root for him to get it together.
  14. I couldn't imagine going through this and to make it worse going through it after you finally found a franchise QB.
  15. You're way wrong and don't fully appreciate what happened here.
  16. Haven't you all learned by now - you don't touch a player the Patriots have discarded.
  17. You're proving my point. Does it say Whaley is forcing the coaches to start EJ? Wake up uneducated fan and stop being a sheep.
  18. This is also factually incorrect and there's plenty of evidence. Whaley brought in Kolb to be the starter in EJ's rookie year. Kolb gets hurt and insert EJ - not exactly Whaley shoving him down their throat. Appropriately EJ was given the opportunity to start in his second season - he didn't play well and was immediately replaced by Orton in game 5 - never to see the field again. Year 3 he had an opportunity to win the job between Cassel, Taylor and himself. He didn't win the job and again no forcing of EJ by Whaley. Last year he started one game when the season was lost - again not anything forced. Whaley let the coaching staffs decide and your BS isn't going to change that.
  19. Ok I've heard enough and have to respond. He stuck with EJ too long? That may have been the quickest moving on from a QB I've seen without an injury dictating it. That includes his rookie season when he played 10 games in which he wasn't the intended starter (Kolb). He gets named the starter in his second season and is benched after game 4 and never sees the field again. The following year he plays in 2 games due to an injury to Taylor then we all saw last year. How on earth can anyone think WHALEY over rated EJ and stuck with him too long? You're just wrong John and you're the exact emotional fan that Sullivan intends to reach.
  20. Good conversation for sure and I don't think you're rooting against Whaley. I think you're points are certainly reasonable and you may very well be correct. I'll make one last point. If I'm Whaley - I'm feeling awfully unlucky. I build a fantastic defense and start concentrating on the offense. A buffoon coach does the exact opposite - he ruins my defense, I get unlucky with my 2016 draft with injuries and the offense ends up playing well enough had the defense just merely showed up it could have worked. I want to see what this year brings and I know you do too. I know we have a few holes but that's not an uncommon thing - However I'm not disheartened by our roster. It's a talented group with a lot to like about it.
  21. I understand what you're saying for sure. I don't love everything he's done but I don't ever blame not finding a QB on a GM - ever. It's complete and utter luck. I also can't blame him for not comprising of mostly draft picks - he's drafted 4 times. It's not even mathematically possible that's his fault. They had to totally turn over a roster devoid of talent (Nix and he). Whaley has been through some serious obstacles of instability. He becomes GM very late IMO of 2013. The owner dies almost exactly one year later. Team gets purchased during the season and a psycho coach quits. Then everything I mentioned about Rex and I forgot to include Rex firing the OC during the season. From a personnel standpoint those have been some difficult things to overcome. He's found some serious gems in free agency and while he's not a drafting ace - I'd sure like to see Shaq, Ragland, Listenbee, Washington, Jones, Williams and Seymour play more before I say he needs to be fired. I feel good about the 2016 class. If Ragland balls out - I won't give two craps about that 4th round pick to move up. He tried to hit a home run with Watkins - hindsight says that may have been ill-advised but it's not like he swung and totally missed with Watkings, he's an excellent player.
