Impressed by the 4th Quarter Game Defining Drive
ganesh replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Think about it. We were on our 6 yard line. If we had a 3-and-out, there is still 14 minutes in the quarter and a bad punt would land in mid-field. The Cowboys with their quick strike offense could have easily scored right there to make up for the 4th down loss. Then it is only a 10 point game...We literally knocked them out of the game! -
Also, once Dallas missed that fourth down, they kind of gave up as they allowed the Bills to march from their own 6 yard line to Dallas 8 yard line and crush the clock by 7 minutes....That 4th down failure was indeed BIG

I was super impressed by the drive in the 4th quarter that ate the clock for 7:02 minutes...It basically put the game out of reach for Dallas. The Bills have never had such a game defining drive in several years and usually they are all against the Bills when they were desperate to have the ball back. Here is the play by play on the drive.. The drive started at the Bills OWN 6 yard line (after Dallas had turned it over downs). and they marched to Dallas 8.....It was a 14 Play drive and had ONE Incomplete PASS and 3 runs for 0 or negative yards. Allen converted 3 First Downs including the sweet pass to Foster. My Goodness! This was gut wrenching for Dallas. 1st and 10 at BUF 6, 16 Yard Run, D.Singletary right end to BUF 22 for 16 yards (J.Smith). 1st and 10 at BUF 22, -2 Yard Run D.Singletary right tackle to BUF 20 for -2 yards 2nd and 12 at BUF 20, 6 Yard Pass, J. Allen pass shor left to J. Brown 3rd and 6 at BUF 26, 14 Yard Pass, J. Allen short left to D. Singletary pushed OB at BUF 40 1st and 10 at BUF 40, 7 Yard Run, R. Foster left end to BUF 47 2nd and 3 at BUF 47, -1 Yard Run, D. Singletary right guard to BUF 46 3rd and 4 at BUF 46, 20 Yard Pass, J. Allen pass short right to R. Foster ran OB at DAL 34 1st and 10 at DAL 34, 6 Yard Run J. Allen up the middle to DAL 28 2nd and 4 at DAL 28, 0 Yards D. Singletary left tackle to DAL 28 3rd and 4 at DAL 28, 18 Yard PENALTY, J. Allen pass incomplete deep left to D. Knox. PI 1st and Goal at DAL 10, -4 Yard SACK, J. Allen sacked at DAL 14 2nd and Goal at DAL 14, 6 Yard Run, D. Singletary up the middle to DAL 8 3rd and Goal at DAL 8, Incomplete J. Allen pass incomplete short middle to D. Singletary 4th and Goal at DAL 8, FIELD GOAL, S. Hauschka 26 yard field goal is GOOD

First order of business is: Poyer Lawson (if they want to retain him) Jordan Phillips I see Murphy and Kroft being let go this coming offseason to apy for the above three. Alexander's modest contract also comes off the books as he is retiring. All three are going to demand top-5 money. These will be the extensions in 2020. Then comes Milano, Dawkins and White. Again will be Top-5 (if not the highest) money in 2021. We probably will also have to extend Hyde and Hughes here. And in year three we will have to pay Allen and Edmunds, I assume Star's contract will come off the books at that point.

the gamesmanship within the gamesmanship

Agree.. We beat up a resurgent (3-game win streak) but bad Miami Team We then beat up a team that did not have wins, but was ranked high in Defensive category Then we beat up America's team with the #1 Offense That is Progress...Now they have a chance to take out 3 teams that have dominated the AFC for the past decade -
The Bills can still win the #1 seed in AFC

Agree...By not turning his head, the DB was not in a position to play the ball. By rule, any attempt by a DB to tackle the WR in such a circumstance is PI -

We went 3-1 each in Sept, Oct and Nov. Let us go 3-1 or 4-0 in December. Go Bills. -
I don't think anyone is stating here that the Bills will dominate the Ravens. I think most folks have opined that the Bills can go toe-2-toe with Ravens or any other team in the league and may have a close game with them and even win it.

Daboll learned that with the Patriots use of Wes Welker and now Edelman. He needed a QB who could execute that quick slant passes. Josh has become better at it.

The 2nd downs on those situations were made so predictable that the Dallas LBs were quickly in our back field for losses. We were now caught for many 3rd and longs...Also, may be it is worthwhile to use Andre Roberts as a H-Back to use his speed and put him and Singletary in the backfield.

Under the radar star for the Bills vs. Cowboys

I was surprised that his pinky did NOT break -
That would be awesome...This also would mean that John Brown is not going to be double-teamed all the time. Let's go FOSTER!

We are after all fans and arm chair QBs...Again for every success that Beane and McDermott have had, they have had a few failures early on, especially when it comes to getting WRs and OL from the market. -
Good teams make turnovers count...This is how we have lost games in the past....This time, we made it count. One of Marv's famous quotes in the comeback game was: It was not good enough to get the turnover, but it more important to know what to do next !!!

A Few Thoughts about the Cowboys Game, in no particular order

And the long white tube socks...they were ugly -
Players will always play where they get the highest paid. It is their livelihood. Beane will continue to use the draft and lower priced FA to build the team to be a regular playoff contender. Their plan is not just short term, but has long term vision

how so. Allen, Mayfield, Darnold and Jackson are winning football games decisively for their teams. It is a great QB class. If Rosen can get his feet set somewhere in this league, it will be an amazing class.... Mayfield has won their last 3 and have a showdown in Pittsburgh this week. Darnold has won 3 straight and scoring 34 points in each game.... Lamar has been stellar of all of them. And Josh just shone under the bright lights of National TV.... A great season for the class of 2018.

A Few Thoughts about the Cowboys Game, in no particular order

A few other comments: It is amazing how this offense has turned around with the introduction of Singletary to this offense three weeks ago. He has made a HUGE difference. And the most impressive thing they did today was that 7 1/2 minute drive in the 4th quarter to get the FG. That was HUGE....They dominated the Cowboys defense and methodically marched forward. Usually, we would be at the receiving end of such drives...But NOT Today....That drive effectively put the game away for good.- 91 replies

Your commentary on Sean brought tears to my eyes...Well written. Faith and Confidence is a huge thing and when you keep that up, good things will eventually happen. Go Bills!
