  1. I think part of the disconnect here is that you're framing this with the context of him leading us to a Superbowl victory. I can say "Hey, if I win the Powerball tomorrow, no one will care what I spend on anything" Both are true, just not likely. But the odds are he will be a backup. If you're paying a competent backup $5M a year, that's a pretty good deal. If you're paying him $15M a year, well, now you're just tying up money that could be used to better the team in other areas. And there are consequences to going over the cap. Teams simply cannot go over the cap. The NFL can reject any new deal that places a team over the cap. If a team releases a player and suddenly realizes the full amount of that players signing bonus, they have 7 days to get back under the cap. If a team attempts to deliberately circumvent the cap, they can be fined or forfeit draft picks (See Pittsburgh, San Fran).
  2. McCarron wants an opportunity to compete for a starting job and after all the dominoes fell he felt like this was his best chance.
  3. You can judge a GM's acumen based on the amount of capital (salary, draft picks) he gives up to obtain players. Spending a fortune on a backup QB isn't always a smart move.
  4. Did anyone NOT see this coming? In the game of QB Musical Chairs, we were the last seat open.
  5. I think he's better than most posters here give him credit for.
  6. I think every community has a saturation point - a population level where the signal to noise ratio gets too low. I guess it's personal preference, but to me, the last few days have had a very weak signal and a whole lotta noise. Draft day should be a circus.
  7. Seems like a lot for a guy coming off ACL and MCL surgery, and a PED suspension.
  8. Not a fan of this move.
  9. The team is not going to be built through FA.
  10. Just be thankful we have a GM smarter than this.
  11. This might be the least surprising signing of the last few years.
  12. As mentioned in the other thread, the money is not nearly as important as the term. The team needed a 1-year deal.
  13. Seriously. If you're going to post clickbait, at least have the decency to not create a new thread for it when there's already a thread about Suh on the front page. You completely made up the "very likely" part as well.
  14. Here's the source: It's Mike Rodak. Pure speculation from Rodak. http://www.espn.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/270914/teams-that-might-target-ndamukong-suh-after-expected-release They list 8 teams that might target him. lol
  15. I have never seen this before: You could run a poll on "Does 2+2=4" and there's always going to be a few idiots that vote "No" Uncharted territory here.
  16. Actually, I kind of want that guy, especially when we play the Pats. Players absolutely dread lining up against him. Speaking of the Pats, I could see them going after him which I don't want to see happen
  17. We drafted Glenn in the 2nd round when he was healthy and signed him to a cheap rookie deal. We just got the equivalent of a 2nd round pick back for him, except now he has an 8-figure cap hit and he's only played 16 games over the last 3 seasons.
  18. He said the team was going to be built through the draft when he was hired. So much whining and crying last August lol
  19. By that logic, if the Browns win 1 game this year their season was a success. Mediocrity is not success.
  20. Negative. The Tyrod Taylor era is the same as the Rex Ryan era - a big waste of time.
  21. The actual figure isn't as important as the term, which has to be 1-year.
  22. Maybe he just thinks very highly of Jeff Hostetler and Jay Schroeder?
  23. It was as if Ian Rapoport performed CPR on the CoT, and for one brief moment, there was a faint heartbeat. And just as it looked like the patient was going to make it, Beane showed up in the ambulance and ran them over. Ahhh, the offseason.
  24. Do the Browns have a charity we can donate money to?
