If there was ever a year not to have a first rounder ...
jumbalaya replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We did not get a great player. we got a player with great potential. We won't know if he's great for 5 to 8 years. He played scared last year with EJ at QB. He missed a few of games and was nowhere to be seen down the stretch. He has potential at this point. -
Is this finally the end of the Patriots dominance?

How can you say this? The J-E-T-S have Fitz. -
A couple of 'Nuggets' from Tim Graham on Twitter.

No way do they bring in Powell and keep Fred. But bringing in Powell should be a very low priority but now it's like the top? Why fix the RBs right now when they are not broke? TE, OL, OLB, ILB & S are broke. Focus! -
Kiko or Shady? Go on record
jumbalaya replied to Deranged Rhino's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cassell trade was a no brainer. The other ramification of the Kiko / McCoy trade is that we lose considerable cap space. With McCoy on board we are committed to getting a number 1 guard (Iupati) or this trade makes no sense. The cost of the #1 guard means we don't have the room to sign Hughes. If we offered CJ a little more we could have had the Guard, CJ, Kiko and Hughes. Instead, we have McCoy and a Guard. Our defense is taking a serious hit losing Hughes, Kiko and Searcy. -

Who "Won" this trade?
jumbalaya replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's a bad trade for Buffalo. Way too many miles on McCoy and too expensive a contract, Kiko is a player. Whaley is a big problem for us. He keeps overreaching for players trying to prove that he is some big football guru. EJ was an overreach in round 1. Could have traded down two more times and still had EJ. Trading up for Sammy was an overreach. Whaley wants to hit that big grand slam every year to show how smart he is. He's not that smart. CJ + Kiko is better than McCoy as he could easily have brought CJ in under McCoy's number. Heck he could probably have gotten Adrian Peterson for Kiko. This reminds me of us getting McGehee. That was a big overreach too.. -
Bills to trade Kiko Alonso for LeSean McCoy
jumbalaya replied to CNY315's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can easily pick up quality RBs in the draft or have waited until the Eagles had cut McCoy which they were going to do. He was not going to take a cut in pay and was on his way out. This trade is stupid. Kiko is one of the best players on the team and will be pro bowl caliber for 5 to 8 years. McCoy has one to two years left at a high level. Not a good trade at all. -
Here we go again. We have a very good, young talent that we are just letting go. Jerry will walk away and we now have another hole to fill. Good teams find ways to keep their good players and not let them just leave. We will be back on that never ending cycle of having to replace top talent. It's not like we don't have the cap space to have kept him.

Free Agency Countdown - What Will Whaley Do?
jumbalaya replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We will get an average OL player which will be a big upgrade and an average TE which will be an upgrade. Neither will be big splashes. -

Hughes contract in the works according to report.

Hughes is good but was really good with the cast around him. He would have been nuts to leave. -

Two plays changed everything for two quarterbacks
jumbalaya replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How about the play that EJ made to Goodwin in the flats where Goodwin got blown up? That play ended EJ's season as the rest of the receivers quit and would not trust him again. Sammy refused to go all out after that. It also sidelined Goodwin for a while and he has never been the same either. Getting the receiver's trust again will more than anything determine whether EJ has a future. -
Alex Smith compared to Matt Moore
jumbalaya replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why do we always expect that the new QB coach / OC can fix a QB? That somehow his style of coaching or new type of offense will make an iota of a difference? It hasn't happened here in 15 years. We've probably had more than a dozen QB's and even more QB coaches and OC's. Promises of the QB will fit the style, we will use the QBs strengths, we will improve the line / run game and they will turn into winners, the QB can run, the QB will stay in the pocket, the QB just needs to throw it away and go on to the next play, "we will dictate to the defense" is always a good one, on and on and on.... The truth in fact is that the QB usually regresses. But every off-season we drink new Kool-Aid. -
Report: Browns proposed Gordon for Foles trade in 2013
jumbalaya replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
J Gordon = M Lynch just as immature but a little unluckier. i'd take Gordon in a flash right now. -
EJ is about to become one of the best QBs to play the game. Luck already had his best years and is clearly about to decline. Maybe we could pull off this trade.
-
Sammy is not a bust. The difference is that Sammy could be as good as Andre Reed while Beckham could be as good as Jerry Rice. Reed was very good, Rice was the best. Most think that Beckham, Evans, or Benjamin and this year's first is better than one Sammy.

Wife kicked me out of the house at halftime. Guess I was whining too much.

Unfortunately the best option that might be out there is to pick up Sanchez. And that would make me puke. Colin, Eli, etc are not going to be released. Bradford is the only legit starting QB who could possibly be released. But we'd need a strong run game, a big TE target and huge Oline upgrade to keep him healthy.

Can't trust what Whaley says about his draft picks. He job it to put lipstick on pigs.
