Dawson Knox: 3 receptions in 5 games. $8.5M salary.
Livinginthepast replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
He was an effective player, 9TDs in 2021 and 6 TDS in 2022. They reward him justifiably with a new contract then oddly they draft another TE and run schemes that he is just a blocker? which is just plain idiotic. If you are going to pay him then use him as he was used in 2021. -
McDermott needs a end of game coordinator
Livinginthepast replied to 86poker's topic in The Stadium Wall
BB's greatest skill was not his in game management per se but his patience in waiting for your garden variety Moron NFL HC to blink, crumble and make a really bad decision (ie McD style) that would gift him the victory. -
Josh Allen Performance Yesterday..a Redux
Livinginthepast replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
For Bills fans of a certain age, Thurman getting a screen or a shovel pass from Kelly was offensive perfection. 99/100 Thurman was getting great yardage. I have yet to see any OC in the McD era do this with any consistency or at all in certain cases. -
Worst (regular season) coached game in the entire McD era
Livinginthepast replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Even for McD who has trouble in high stress situations, this was a no brainer. The solution was easy for even a high school coach. Not even a high pressure situation. Yet what unfolded was one of the dumbest series of plays in Bills history. If Brady made that decision to throw 3 times he is an idiot but if McD allowed it or was not in the loop about it, he is a bigger idiot. If they both agreed on the 3 throws they have graduated to imbecile level and should both be replaced. Its hard to forgive Brady who has been doing this for a few years in the NFL but McD? he has been a head coach for 7 years! How does an experienced coach screw that up? -
Not challenging Dalton sideline catch or Cook TD
Livinginthepast replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
Cook was clearly out of bounds and there was no chance that was getting overturned. Kincaid was more winnable but not by much as it was called a no catch first and there was evidence for and against it being a catch. But yes the point made earlier that McD called a TO anyway without challenging it? was just dumb. -
But Brady doesnt know Josh's status the moment that Trubisky goes in and how long he is going to be in the tent. It was quite possible that Josh was going to be ruled out for the game. So the first down play call has to be something simple that Trubisky can handle cold off the bench but is getting us towards the end zone or into it. We absolutely have to score a TD to win the game. Maybe Brady got buzzed by the people in the tent that Josh was ok and coming back so do something safe on first down, but cmon we need something better than that useless running play. If Josh didnt come back what was Brady going to do with Trubisky? They dont seem to trust him at all and in their defense, Trubisky has been awful. I ask again what is the point of having him on this team? Mike White would be a better backup right now to Josh.

Catchable? Yes but I think Hollins catches that 2/10 times. Which explains why he has been on several teams in his career. Hollins is a decent 4th receiver but thats a difficult pass for him to catch. It wasnt a terrible throw by Josh but it also wasnt placed properly and had he led him to the middle of the field side, its an easy touchdown. Same with the deep throw later on. Where Josh underthrows his mind and its knocked away.

Bringing Trubisky back is one of the strangest decisions this regime has made. He proved himself completely incapable in his chance at redemption in Pittsburgh. So what is his purpose here? Get someone who could be viable if Josh gets injured. And the way its going so far, Josh is getting rocked with hits, game in and game out.

Actually looking at Sojourner's point that by the time the play got off, the Bills did have 11 men on the field (it was probably late but they were there) so the SI article is exaggerated but what about the point that Douglas made that Dorian Williams didnt know what the play was? How were they not aware of what personnel were going to be out there and why was Williams late getting on? And what about the strange defensive configuration? Like they were playing a Hail Mary. They only rushed ONE MAN at Stroud! ONE!??? It was seriously one of the weirdest plays I have ever seen the Bills do on defense ever. It almost seemed like they wanted to throw the game, it was that dumb.

Agree, Embarrassing stuff from both teams. Made no sense!

Apologies if this has been posted already: https://www.si.com/nfl/bills/news/buffalo-bills-houston-texans-final-play-10-men How could the Bills not have a defensive scheme ready to go right after that change of possession on the punt? The Bills seemed to have a bizarre configuration on defense for the Texans first down and were playing way off the ball like it was going to be a hail mary attempt and that was with only 10 men on the field to start! In addition the Texan player goes down on that last play and the Bills player touches him right away? I know a player can give himself up and they could call time out but why make it easy for the refs when you dont have to by not touching him?? The Bills could have easily let off and let the clock expire?

Concerned that Joe Brady may have crashed back to reality.
Livinginthepast replied to Spiderweb's topic in The Stadium Wall
Scary thought , but Joe Brady might be WORSE than even Vanilla Dorsey. He might be Sugar free Vanilla Dorsey! I didnt think that anyone could be worse than Dorsey and his conservative offense but Brady literally looks clueless out there. Perhaps he needs to play some Madden 25 and get some ideas. It literally looks that bad. -
Concerned that Joe Brady may have crashed back to reality.
Livinginthepast replied to Spiderweb's topic in The Stadium Wall
I thought this last week. He has copied Dorsey's vanilla, conservative 1950's offense. There is no sophistication, speed or trickery on any plays and what little there was (last weeks flea flicker) has failed utterly. Why wasnt Brady challenged for the job in the off season, with a bonafide offensive coach that could take Josh to the next level? Really dumb move by Beane. -
Apparently trubisky is so useless that he cannot trust him not to screw things up for even 1 play! So they waste their first down on a predictably useless run play.

Worst (regular season) coached game in the entire McD era
Livinginthepast replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Easily one of the dumbest coaching moves I have ever seen. Ive watched football for almost 50 years and that along with 13 seconds are in my top 5 of coaching that cost you a game, or gave it away unnecessarily! -

The loss was 100% on the coaching staff. Brady looked like a guy who has never coached before all game and the decision making at the end was fireable. Even during the drought we werent this stupid. -
