Sal C’s “Dear Browns fans....” about Tyrod Taylor
Green Lightning replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pretty accurate summation. -
Gosh how swell of you! We compliled picks to grab a franchise QB which haven't had for decades. Much smarter football people than you or I have deemed this an outstanding year to draft a QB. So you're weak-kneed on using our draft capital in a QB rich year. That's fine, maybe you can compile the lists of LBs, DBs or any position that made their team champions. If McBeane deems trading picks to move up, excellent. I'm tired of mediocrity. Hell yes. But I'd rather have the key position locked down to lead us out of suckage. Bad teams with great QBs often contend.
-
Boo frickity hoo. Here's the world we live in. It's a quarterback-driven league bottom line. You're going to overpay for the position. Second and third round talent will likely go in the first round this year at the quarterback position. So that's the price of admission to the modern NFL. So you're either willing to pay the price or suck.

The "We have too many holes" argument
Green Lightning replied to ColdFront_USAF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The OP is right on target. Remember our past GM Marv Levy telling us we have to get better around the quarterback not a quarterback? It just doesn't work. -
Right so let's sit our hands for another 17 years and hope something falls our way. Sorry I've heard it before. You can draft all the great players you want but if your quarterback sucks you're going to suck. That's just life in the NFL you have to deal with it. This is the year to get a quarterback.

Who is this year's Ryan Leaf?
Green Lightning replied to ChicagoRic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ryan Leaf wasn't a bust, he was a dumpster fire! I don't think that's going to happen to this year's crew. However I do think Allen is the most likely to be a bust. -
So... Is A.J. McCarron Back in play?
Green Lightning replied to #34fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's going to be interesting. If they do get a Rosen or Mayfield I believe the Rook starts year one. Anybody else it is going to definitely be a bridge. The thing is you don't know until the draft. -
So... Is A.J. McCarron Back in play?
Green Lightning replied to #34fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was cathartic. You may be right about AJ. He'll want starter money and hasn't shown he can do it. That said we don't know his ceiling but we know Tyrod's. If you don't like AJ or Teddy, who's you vet to sign to bridge or back up our rook? -
Do you REALLY THINK our GM & HC will trade UP?
Green Lightning replied to Punt75's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As the Jeffersons would say, Movin' on up To the top five Finally got a QB Who's franchise -

My favorite McCarron moment was mentioning his name and seeing you light up with a smarmy ass response. If you would have read the rest of the thread, I wanted Bridgwater or McCarron as a veteran presence for our brand new drafted first round quarterback. So chill out take a break from being such a smart-ass. -
Boy you really put a lot of thought into that response. Come on! Mayfield has accuracy, anticipation, can read the field and knows how to win. None of those things define Losman.
-
I'd do cartwheels if we got Mayfield. System QB? BS. The guy is uncanny in accuracy, pluck and finds a way to win. He will translate to the NFL no problem.

Buffalo to jump on cap casualty players?
Green Lightning replied to The Now Moment's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This. Let's be clear, McBeane inherited a mess. -
OPINION: We have a trade partner in place
Green Lightning replied to McBean's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know. I can't remember being this jacked up for a draft, and I've followed the team since 1963! -
OPINION: We have a trade partner in place
Green Lightning replied to McBean's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We do have the capital for that move, but I'm suspect of Darnold. I can't get over that Tebowesque loopy throwing motion. I think he's a ways off from starting. My own ranking is Mayfield, then Rosen. All that said, what an amazing place McBeane has brought us to. Imaging trading a first, second and third in one draft and still having a first, second and third. -
Another QB to consider
Green Lightning replied to RocCityRoller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I understand that there are times in life where anything seems possible. Then someone says maybe Indy will trade Luck and our dreams dissappear like vapor.... -
If they build an offense around TT I think they'll do well. Which means they better draft Lamar Jackson because that's the way their offense would be built.

Disinformation: Bigger enemy now more than ever.
Green Lightning replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
#threadfail. BTW. Disinformation is good. McBeane is doing it pretty well to boot! -

Green Lightning replied to #34fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Valid point. But at the end of the day they're going to have to play somewhere. Not sure how many teams would consider them their long-term solution. Maybe a short-term prove-it contract is what they need. Particularly Bridgewater. They both throw with anticipation and actually throw to wide receivers. I take that as a huge upgrade.
