  1. And the crowd chants, "MERCY ON T MASTER"
  2. I think Nix could quite possibly be attracted to this quality
  3. Welcome to the Looney Bin Tommy! :-) I am wondering why Clayton didn't mention Gabbert? If we do take a QB, Newton would be down my list some. Definitely Gabbert over Newton...as has been stated by many on this board.
  4. If we have a full season, the fans will be there, but if we have a shortened season I think a lot of fans will abandon ship for 2011. I purchase the Sunday ticket every year for one reason only...my beloved Bills. I have been a fan for half a century. I will not make the purchase this year to watch scab games...& I am not too enthused about watching other scab games either... even if they're free. If we have a shortened season, it's just not the same & I would probably only tune in for the playoffs.
  5. I receive your point & it's valid. I am putting my money on the billionaires. As a previous poster stated..."staying power"
  6. We must consider, however, the thousands of non-super rich that earn a living off the NFL...from the guy throwing the peanuts to the dude printing the tee shirts, to the skilled camera men. My buddy bets this will be resolved in August. If he's right, I'll jump right back in.
  7. No...but as BillsVet just stated > "The PA's insistence on having team financial records for the past 10 years is unreasonable and nothing the NFL would ever agree to." Right is right & wrong is wrong...union or not! I just can't side with the players on this issue.
  8. Hey brainiac...if people don't watch the games on TV...attend the games, buy the garb, purchase Sunday ticket, etc, etc...then the NFL folds. This is not rocket science.
  9. I own a couple of stores, & if any of my employees gave me an ultamatum demanding that I turn over all my financial records so they could determine if I'm paying them enough or not, they would be locked out the next day too. I wonder if the players truly realize that the fans are responsible for making them millionaires... & the vast majority earn between minimum wage & 20 bucks an hour.
  10. I am with you 100%...providing the upcoming season is altered significantly. There's still time for them to come to their senses. If I can watch real NFL players for 16 reg season games, I will forgive the greedy buzzards.
  11. Thanks for that info. I just happen to like Brown & think he's got a lot of potential. He's got a great release, a good head on his shoulders, & a real passion to be a starting NFL QB. He's a nice kid & I hope he can achieve his goal. I guess time will tell...but I guess you're correct...not looking too good at this juncture. I agree. I posted something the other night & the next morning I realized I made a mistake & couldn't edit it...so I deleted it... & it was a brilliant post too! :-)
  12. I bet they said that about Brady before Bledsoe got hurt. As Jim Mora would say, "You don't know...you think you know, but you don't know"
  13. That's why I picked my user name... it's time to start winning! As far as our last draft homerun is concerned... man o man...been awhile. We've had a few doubles & triples, but as far as a homerun, I spose we would have to go back to our SB years. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. We've been a conglomerate of mediocracy for so long, sadly, I can't think of any in the past decade. There's gotta be one though.
  14. haha C'mon Beerball...haven't they made at least one smart decision in the last decade on draft day? I'll be 57 next month & been a Bills fan all my life. I can remember some good draft decisions... back when football wasn't all about money & before Ralphie boy fired Bill Polian in an idiotic move.
  15. I'll stick up for ya TC. His point is this: It's not all bad decisions at OBD, it's also players not living up to their potential, with a dose of bad luck mixed in. Although his point has some validity, there's still been plenty of bad decisions by the Bills brass on draft day. Any team that had Maybin higher Orakpo on their board simply did not do their job correctly. That's just one example of many.
  16. I hear ya...& I like your scenario, but here's a far more appropriate finale IMHO. Only one team is interested in him...so he signs for minimal $$. Then is relegated to 3rd string & never plays a down all year, & on the final week of the season...a Sunday or Monday night game... and with the nation watching, the camera pans on him sitting all alone at the end of the bench with a glazed over look in his eye as he stares aimlessly to nowhere while his team is getting blown out for the 12th time this year. And while the camera is on him, the announcer says..."Oh...the pain of a shrinking ego." Let's just hope it's not the Bills...haha.
  17. Actually, he hit the hole extremely fast & was fun to watch on the gridiron, but his massive ego prevented him from being a good broadcaster & TV personality after his retirement, which more than likely is why NBC did not renew his contract. He's obnoxious, which makes him difficult to listen to. I found myself cringing when he was on. It's that same ego which prevented him from being a good teammate & a faithful husband...& now, that same ego has him convinced he can actually take a four year hiatus & be a successful RB in this league at age 36.
  18. You say that like you really know. Is Buddy your grandpa?
  19. I literally had a dream last night that we picked Gabbert with our #1 & Jones with our #2. I highly doubt if Jones will be there at 34, & I have stated on this board that I would like Dareus as our first pick. Probably just a dumb dream.
  20. I have seen this video before. It is entertaining, but means very little when real bullets are flying. I should have said that Fitz reads defenses well & knows what's going on...& therefore can get rid of the ball at the correct moment (most of the time), unlike Trent. I'm not saying Fitz is the next Jim Kelly...but I think he can get us to the playoffs with a solid team around him & some more time working with Gailey. The last thing we need right now is another QB project. I say we beef up in this draft...that's all. Yeah...Gabbert is intriguing, but I just don't feel it's the direction we should go this year. We simply have too many other needs.
  21. I know this isn't the common theme, but I think with one more year working with Chan, & some studs around him, I believe Fitz can get it done. He's got a quick release...something we haven't seen in a very long time, & he's a good decision maker. He won me over last year. Also, I believe Brown will be a fine #2 (smooth release & a good head on his shoulders). So let's pick pick up a #3 off the garbage heap & beef up with some studs this year...starting with Dareus.
  22. I think the odds of us trading down are slim, & I'm really hoping we will pass on Newton. Like you, I feel we have a good chance to get Dareus. I hope it happens.
  23. From the SB to draft day, nothing is a waste of time...but the combine is only one piece of the giant puzzle. If it was a waste of time, do you think all the coaches, scouts, & media would be there? At his point, I'm going with Dareus.
  24. I predict we'll pass on Gabbert & all QB's in this draft & beef up with some studs...then jettison Brohm (who proved his worth), bump Brown up to #2, & pick up a #3 in the garbage heap. Chan will be loyal to Fitz in '11...should we play ball. That's my hope & prediction, but I'm usually wrong when it comes to figuring out the Bills brass on draft day. I thought for sure we would pick Orakpo.
