Tell me, which one of these moves are you applauding the most? The decision to use our #1 pick on a luxury pick ... a right reserved for playoff teams. Or maybe you loved wasting two months (counting OTA's & training camp) on Trent Edwards, while almost everyone on this board knew he wasn't a "gamer". Personally, I am applauding (cough cough) this awkward Wanny thing...our new defensive cooridinator that really isn't one...but maybe he is. Why didn't they just fire Edwards & bring on Wanny as DC? sheesh. I don't mean to pee in your Wheaties, but I am not applauding yet. I'll applaud when these decisions turn into victories, & quite frankly I am having some doubts that they will.

I'll take this... I predict you'll be a frustrated Bills fan in 2 yrs

Players we should have drafted

Man o man T Master...that's what stuck in my craw as well! I was chanting "O R A P K O" before the pick! I was totally miffed when they picked Maybin. I'm still ticked! I don't think I'll get over it until Maybin gets his pink slip, which is inevitable. It's still hard to believe. The two players aren't even the same universe. -

Took me 60 seconds to decide if I wanted to reply to you or not...but I decided you won't hang around long enough to read it. Too many other important things to do... like protecting government secrets, or stopping the spread of nuclear weapons. I sure wish I was important, but I'm just a Bills fan...... -

Sadly, it's not a dead horse. As fans, we constantly live (& die) with the horrendous mistakes the Bills hierarchy make every April. -
I think we need to be leary of last names...remember Los(s)man? Devlin is too close to devil, & Ponder sounds like someone who could get sacked a lot while he's "pondering". We need someone who can man the fort...like another Manning. And there's nothing like a cool Brees on a hot team. As long as we don't get a green Leaf who can turn colorful...then turn brown & fall, we'll be ok.

How two 7-9 teams go in different directions
Glory Bound replied to Rob T from OP's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why? Obviously because you've never driven to Ralph's house & introduced yourself! Thanks a lot Rob! This is all your fault! -

Can I answer your question Sunday nite? (haha) Actually, I think it's gonna be the Pack & The Steelers in the SB & the Pack will win handily. By your logic, the Jets will be in...so we'll see. But let me answer your question by saying this: Is there a talent gap between the Bills & the Pats & Jets? Undoubtedly Yes. But is it as large as our last two games would indicate? No, I don't think so. I put a lot of it on Gailey for not having the team ready or for having a sound game plan. -

I'm glad you brought up Perry Fewell. Many of us thought that after the Jauron firing that Bobby April should have been named Interim Head Coach & that we should have left Perry Fewell right where he was & left his job intact. I for one was in that camp. With hindsight being 20/20, I think it's clear that would have been the way to go...whether Chan was hired later or not. It just seems like at every fork in the road we turn the wrong freaken way 90% of the time. Sheesh! I swear that 90% of the posters on this board could have had a better Win/Loss record the last decade being GM of this team. This club won't turn around until better decisions are made...makes me crazy! -

I would agree with you CodeMonkey if it weren't for our performances against the Ravens & the Steelers. I live in Steelers country & I tell everybody here, "You do know we really won that game, don't you?" The response is always the same...they hang their heads a tad & say, "Yeah, I know". I enjoyed the piece Brian Baldinger did on the NFL network...he pointed out all the changes Rex Ryan made for the playoff game against the Pats from when they played them at the end of reg season & got a shellacking. In viewing that regular season game one would think the gap was huge...but that wasn't the case. The appearance of a huge gap was caused by an improper game plan by the Jets. Ryan made the necessary adjustments by studying the film of the game, then putting his defense into coverage packages instead of blitz packages... & voila...Belicheat is watching the championship game on TV this coming weekend instead of playing in it. I don't think the gap between us & our last two opponnents is as big as you think. I question whether Gailey can study film & make adjustments in time. In my opinion, he's been slow in spotting problems & fixing them...same problem Jauron had. Again, go back to the Trent Edwards situation...how long did it take him to figure it out? -

Here are three reasons of many why I don't share your confidence (1) They couldn't turn in their Spiller pick fast enuf on draft day..as if to shout to the world that Spiller was the next NFL superstar. Clearly he was luxury pick...we didn't need a running back...& we failed to address other real needs. (2) Chan defended Edwards to the hilt when some kids at practice heckled him. Why did these kids do that?... cause they knew what most of us on this board already knew...that TE was a great QB...in practice...that when real bullets were flying, he was a scared diva in stilettos. Then a month later Chan gives TE his marching papers south. Precious time was wasted! This makes one wonder if Chan watched any film from '09. (3) The horrendous showing of this team our last two games against our division rivals. We badly needed to make a statement. Well, we made one alright! Clearly Chan did not have this team anywhere near ready. Nix & Chan (CHIX) are already leaving their fingerprints on this team...& it ain't lookin' pretty. The only confidence I have right now is that perhaps our beloved Bills can win five games next year. Man I hope they prove me wrong! -

I agree, and it was widely rumored Martz wanted to land in Buffalo. Did we make a mistake here? Then we have to look at each teams schedules...then Cutler vs. Fitz...& so many other things. But I like Rob's point...turnarounds can happen fast if some crucial pieces are fit into the puzzle. There are so many examples of this...(Miami a couple yrs ago for one). I think the big question is this: Is Nix capable of (1)Identifying our weaknesses & prioritizing them, & (2)Making the best decisions for a quick turnaround. Quite frankly, I am having my doubts. I guess we'll know the answer a year from now. -

This thread is hysterical...er, excuse me...hisstarakle. Thanks man...I needed a good laugh! I'm originally from Buffalo...a lifelong Bills fan, but have been living in Steelers country for several decades now. I can't wait to watch the Jets fans go run & hide like cockroaches after the Steelers show them who they really are! -
All of these Defense Coordinators getting fired
Glory Bound replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The word "re-build" implies that there was once something solid structured. I think that word should be tossed out when referring to our beloved Bills. After a decade long playoff drought, the current description should be "building", not "re-building". -
Text: Wanny meets with Bills Defensive Staff
Glory Bound replied to JoeF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ralph needs to dip into his stash & hire the stache ...what's a little cash when our defense is considered trash? Then ban all people with the last name of "Edwards" from having anything to do with this organization again. BAM...playoffs! -
You got it! My mom used to joke she had enough careers for several people. During the period when the plans were being laid for the stadium, she was editor of the Hamburg Photo News. She caught wind that the original plans for the stadium meant for it to be built on top of that burial ground & she wrote a story about it. The article caused quite a stir & due to the impending law suits, the stadium officials had no choice but to change the plans of the stadium construction. I remember her joking that she was responsible for the swirling winds & the kickers probably hated her for writing that story. Some time later she became manager of Lake Heights Apartments in Hamburg, the adjacent suburb to Orchard Park where the stadium is. (I graduated from Hamburg High in '72). I'm pretty sure it was the first year O.J. came to Buffalo, he & 12 other Bills contracted to live there for a period, & on lease signing day they all arrived. My mom put me in charge of making them lunch...Italian sausage hoagies with peppers & onions. My memory of O.J. was the size & muscles in his thighs...huge! (he was wearing shorts). I think it was either Jim Braxton's or Ahmad Rashad's apartment that they all trashed one night during a party...did considerable damage & my mom was ticked over that. Once my dad got me in the dugout of the MLB allstar game when it was being played in Buffalo. I was in the dugout with Mickey Mantle & Roger Marris! I remember Marris puffing on a cigarette. It wasn't too long after that I started smoking...quit a long time ago though. Kids do indeed mimic their heroes.

My dad was a sportswriter for the Buffalo News…back then it was called the Buffalo Evening News. He used to get me on the Bills sidelines when they played at the old Rockpile. I was about age 10 to 12 years old at the time. He did this by saving his passes year after year & matching up the colors of his sideline pass with an with an old pass, then taping my old bogus pass face down on my coat. Nobody said anything to him because of who he was & the fact that I behaved. Many thought I was coach Lou Saban’s son. I have many more stories (all true) if anybody’s interested…including my mom being responsible for the swirling winds in Rich stadium by turning the stadium sideways…& I also cooked for lunch for O.J. & 12 other Bills one day…including Ahmad Rashad …I lived in a apartment complex with 13 Bills that my mom managed. I definitely had an interesting childhood!

I watched him the other night for the first time & my first impression of him was that his movements were too slow, casual, & telegraped. I'm not talking about foot speed...just kinda slow behind the center, where Fitz seems quick with his decisions & movements. Also, while handing off he just kinda holds the ball out there for his RB to grab it instead of placing it in the bread basket, which I know can be coached outta him... but I was not impressed at all & voted to pass on him.

I've been trying to take a break from the Bills now for about...oh....maybe a decade! How the heck did you accomplish this? It's like some sort of sick addiction...kinda like rubbernecking at the scene of a car accident. I don't really wanna see the carnage...yet I can't stop watching! Can somebody please help me?

I can't help wondering if Lynch didn't have all the character issues & the suspension, if he would still be a Bill? Which in turn makes me wonder if we would have drafted Spiller. I can't help thinking Nix is a no nonsense guy that believes in character players, & Lynch's days were numbered well before the draft. Let's just hope we get a real stud for that 4th round pick, & that Spiller shines next year. Maybe then we can watch the highlite of that spectacular run & enjoy it more.

Harbaugh turned down an 8 mil/ yr job in Miami to take on a 5 mil/ yr job in San Fran. Rumor has it The Fins were requiring him to wear dark sunglasses all the time in Miami...even while watching film & during pressers... & he just couldn't deal with that.

Normally, I would agree with this, but it was soooooo bad........... give him the pink slip!

Merriman Signs Extension - Does he contribute to 2011
Glory Bound replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Man-o-man...Let's hope you are correct! The Kelsay signing is the one move that this team made in 2010 that I can't figure out. I just can't wrap myself around this move & it's making me doubt Nix & Gailey. I can work thru the Spiller pick...I can work though naming TE the starter (due to his strong practices), but the Kelsay signing...I wish someone could explain it to me so I could rid myself of this bitter taste in my mouth. Maybe...just maybe...this Merriman signing is their way to fix this snafu.
