  1. If I were the agent for a player like Troy Hill, Jamal Adams, or any free agent over 30, I'd advise them, provided their finances allow, to wait until November before signing with a team. Best chance to secure significant playing time for decent money while being in peak physical condition. Plus, it gives them the freedom to choose where they want to play.
  2. If a team was interested in Von Miller's services, I'd be interested in listening to those proposals. I'd be ok giving his snaps to Solomon or another young player. I'd be interested in a player like Azeez Ojulari from the GIants at end or safety Quandre Diggs from the Titans. If I was looking at kickers, Nick Folk would be the one I'd focus on in a trade. He'd get you through the rest of this season at minimum.
  3. What makes the Chiefs great? Steve Spagnuolo would have sent an all out blitz on that hail mary attempt. You don't let AR have all day back there to line up the throw. Tyler Bass will cost the Bills a game this year. He looks scared to be on the field.
  4. Antonio Pierce is my odds-on favorite to be replaced during this season. That team has all the tell tale signs of quitting on him, the blowouts keep coming, the coordinators are bad, and he was primarily hired because the players played hard for him last season. He's on the Mike Singletary coaching trajectory.
  5. I'm happy with his work overall. What I like: Competitive team each year. There's planning for the new stadium years where the Bills *need* the best teams they can assemble. Drafts solid football players. Pretty sharp with trades. What I don't like: Overpaying 30+ year old players (Miller, Jones). Giving good players *great* money. (While he didn't pay Edmunds (and I wouldn't have either), I also would not have paid Dawson Knox or Ed Oliver.)
  6. No. This isn't a spend year. I don't want an Adams trade to impact spending for the first year in the stadium. Don't want to hear about why we can't get a 2025 or 2026 premier player because we did some financial gymnastics this year on a 32-year old receiver. Plus, expensive older players just aren't worth it. Von, and if you've seen Daquan Jones and his three tackles lately.
  7. I don't see the Bills, Jets or Saints doing a deal. If you could declare bankruptcy with salary cap, the Saints would likely do it. Their bad cap situation is on a unique level of terrible. I don't think the Jets spend that amount of money to make this last year of AR work. I think AR and the Jets know this is his last season. From the Bills perspective, they want to spend in 2025 and 2026. I think the team you see is the one you largely get for 2024.
  8. Texans and Jets do not scare me, and the Bills will show up to those games. The Titans do scare me. The Bills have problems with physical teams. Their running attack is good and that defense plays angry.
  9. If there's an area where McDermott's faith in his players is going to extract a cost, it'll be with Bass, likely in a game the Bills will need to have. Bills should be trying out every available kicker. And if the entirety of the Bass issue is he prefers Matt Haack to hold the ball, go sign Haack and deal with it.
  10. Bills didn't show up this one. Regroup and look forward.
  11. You may want to add a measure for states that won't tax your retirement distributions if that'd be important to you. Also, most states don't tax social security but nine still do.
  12. You could make a compelling movie about the Athletics franchise through the decades - with the personalities, skullduggery, politics, and ultimately a treatise on the decline of Oakland from where it was in the 1960s to present day. You'd probably leave the movie convinced the only decent guy in the entire film was Connie Mack.
  13. Unusual line. This may be a down year for the Ravens, whether the media wants to accept it or not. Ravens defense is slow with a green DC. Ravens offense, even slower. The right side of their OL is in slow motion like they both have back pain, and Henry is a plodder at this point in his career.
  14. I'd ride it out together. Her time is short at 14. She's family. TBH, I read your post and felt sad. Divorce is hard, son growing up and moving out is hard, and other pets moving on. Lazy has been there through it all with you.
  15. Absolutely. Divorced the Pittsburgh Pirates back around 2017 after a lifetime of being a fan of the team. Why invest your interest and money in following a team owned by a guy (Bob Nutting) who refuses to invest in it? As long as he owns the team, the Pirates will be a loser franchise. Started following the Twins - have a sneaking suspicion the Pohlads are just super-wealthy cheapskates themselves, who are content skating by with a good, but not great team.
  16. My vote is the Saints. Superdome is old: - was built in 1975. Currently being renovated. Ownership is tenuous: Gayle Benson, Tom Benson's widow inherited the team in a contentious dispute with the rest of the family. She's 77. She's stated publicly she plans on selling the team upon her death, and donating the proceeds to New Orleans-area charity. Long term lease isn't a done deal: The team begrudgingly made an $11.4 million payment for renovations due to the equally contentious discussions pertaining to a long term lease between the Saints and the State, which owns the Superdome.
  17. Nebraska had a terrible AD in Trev Albert and he and the school made terrible choices in HCs post Bo Pelini because they were trying to do it on the cheap. That school was blinded by the fact that despite being a hometown hero, Trev Albert was terrible at the job. Mike Riley - mediocre everywhere he's been. Then they try the hometown hero again in Scott Frost who had just one winning season at UCF? Come on. They paid money to get Matt Rhule and he's doing work. I think he's an above average college coach. With Raiola at QB, they should be able to recruit solidly for the next two seasons at least. I wouldn't discount Illinois - they will likely be ranked all year, but yes, Nebraska could have won that game. The penalties did them in, and that offensive line was out of gas by OT.
  18. Eagles I haven't been to an Eagles game where I haven't witnessed an Eagles fan physically assault a fan of the opposing team after the game. I'm not a fan of the Kelce Brothers overexposure, and I'm sick of seeing Jason Kelce everywhere.
  19. Despite his age, Douglas is the football player for that position in the McDermott defense, and I suspect they will overpay to keep him on a short deal, and if need be, transition him to safety. His football IQ for zone defense would be difficult, if not impossible, to replace. He's really like a modern-era Troy Vincent.
  20. The UFL/USFL kickers intrigue me. There's a few that look worthy of a tryout. For instance, Matt Coghlin, Memphis Showboats. I don't see where he's on an NFL team. 2024: 16/17 FG, Long of 57 2023: 18/19 FG, Long of 55
  21. Both of these kickers are not good at accurately kicking the ball. I'd try out every USFL kicker before signing either of these guys.
  22. John Harbaugh can have dud seasons. This could be one of them. Ravens have no running game to take the focus off Jackson - Henry no longer has the quickness or the brute strength. He's now just a RB that's heavy and plodding.
  23. He's a good athlete, but a marginal football player. Physical skills paired with a low football IQ. It's not hyperbole - he looks like he has no idea what he's doing out there.
  24. I remain amazed that Miami, to this day, sees no urgency in developing a Plan A-2 - where for the first two months of the season, if Miami has a comfortable lead at half, you sit TT and play the other QB. Shouldn't call it a Plan B - you know your starting quarterback is fragile, and in every season there's a high risk of needing an above average quarterback to play multiple games of a season.
  25. Arguably the second best coach in Bills history behind Levy to date. Some would say Saban is with the back to back AFL championships.
