  1. I'll take any defense that prohibits linemen from pretending to be linebackers.
  2. Bills have a shot if their defense from last week shows up. Patriots have injuries in the offensive line. Brady isn't 100%. Weather shouldn't be a big factor. Sweeping the Patriots would be pretty cool.
  3. Gruden returning to coaching = Improved MNF watching experience Not a big fan of Gruden the commentator.
  4. I'd pay SJ. Two back to back 1K seasons? One of the few receivers that can catch balls against Revis? Yeah, I'd keep a guy like that around. You are paying for performance and continuity and an expectation of future performance for a young player like SJ. I think continuity between the OL/WR/RB is important so if you have good players, you shouldn't feel hesitant about retaining them.
  5. That was a crazy game last night. I'm glad I wasn't a Baylor or Washington fan. Probably would have been stressed out and exhausted watching the Spontaneous Offense Bowl. I think RGIII is a helluva talent. I think he's better than Luck and wouldn't be too surprised to see him leapfrog Luck as the #1 pick. However, I'd pick Justin Blackmon between the two. What a weapon. Consistently awesome route runner and that matters a lot. Intelligent. Disciplined. Outstanding work ethic. Play him out of the slot and watch out.
  6. Just say no to Cal players. Outside of ML, I was big on Cam Jordan last year and he's got 28 tackles and 0 sacks for New Orleans. In hindsight, glad the Bills weren't forced to draft him. More evidence to not allow Senior Bowl performance influence your drafting choices.
  7. If you have linebackers that can neutralize their TE duo, the Pats are quite beatable. It's just that very few defenses have a linebacker corps that can defend against TWO exceptional pass catching TEs on the field at the same time.
  8. I'd like him to come back. I don't care what Ralph pays him so long as SJ signs the contract. He's a cog in the machine that should be retained. When he beat Revis like he did, he made a believer out of me. I hope the Bills get him some help at WR2.
  9. Pete: He's had more than one mistake. Booze seems to always be around. It's a trend. I don't think it is coincidence. While he does do good works and perhaps isn't a half bad individual outside his habits, I still wouldn't pay him FA money to come here based on those habits and his lack of productivity. I think the Bills can do better.
  10. I'll pass. Not a terribly productive player outside that anomaly of a season in 2007 with Cleveland. Also appears to have a problem with booze. I just don't see that, age, injuries and lack of productivity making for a sound investment and roster spot.
  11. I am glad that there is a smoking ban. The NFL would do its fans a favor by banning alcohol in stadiums too.
  12. You keep both next year for sure. I'd rather we beat the hell out of teams using FJ and CJS with Corey McIntyre leading the way. Keep AND acquire new talent. Can't do just one and expect to get anywhere.
  13. Does a "new" GM mean a new coach?
  14. It's general manager canon not to invest in running backs over the age of 30. Nobody does it. I think the Bills will offer Fred a short term extension with a pay raise and lots of incentives, but I don't think any general manager in the NFL is going to offer him a long term deal that he's probably looking for. He's John McClaned. Wrong place (age 30+) and wrong time (broken leg and team's success to draft RBs late in the draft and they perform) to be at the top of his professional career.
  15. I think Coughlin and/or Reid are fired should their teams fail to make the playoffs. The subplot to the Eagles is that there was a considerable power struggle between Jim Washburn and Juan Castillo over the defense that Andy Reid apparently did not get himself involved in until the Miami game where the use of the Wide-9 defense was largely scrapped for more of a Jim Johnson blitz scheme with Castillo having more decision making power rather than Washburn. There's a lot of internal strife in the Eagles organization and the playoffs are the only saving grace for Reid as head coach. Never mind the fan base wants him gone three days ago. As for Coughlin, how much longer are the Giants owners going to be patient with now the inevitable team collapse that comes every year and just squeezing into the playoffs? The team seems stuck in the same story every year.
  16. "That guy's married and gayer than the 1890s." Hilarious. Absolutely love it. Literally LOL'ed. (LOL?)
  17. The team should run a different "themed" offense every game. That'd be very cool to watch, and impossible to get game tape on. Week One, you run the Wishbone. Week Two, Air Coryell. Week Three, Run and Shoot, Week Four, West Coast offense, etc.
  18. I agree promoting Wannstedt to HC is less (way less) than an inspiring move, but it provides some sort of coaching continuity. Bring in a whole new head coach and staff, and then you start overhauling the roster. Again.
  19. Should he lose nine straight games, unfortunately yes, he has to go. Should he break the streak or win both games, he stays. As bad a choice as it looks and probably is, you promote Wannstedt to Head Coach if he's fired.
  20. The Bills need to retain and assemble talent as cogs in a performing machine. Considering the game continually shifts more to rotational play, there is no B-team anymore. It's now A-1 and A-2 teams, and continuity does matter in team sports. I don't see Merriman and Parrish as stars but I do see them as useful parts in the Bills machine. Our successful teams in the 90s had lots of good cogs to go along with the two or three great ones.
  21. +1. And they should find Corey McIntyre too.
  22. How many coaches don't get fired after losing nine games in a row? Presuming we lose against Denver and New England.
  23. I gave him a D. I think he's 1 for 2 on the draft. I really like the SEC heavy 2011 draft. I think the Lee Evans trade was a positive. Lynch also had to go. However, he earns the D by: 1. Not making the call to fire Edwards last year; 2. The Terrell Troup selection, despite knowledge he had back issues; 3. Not obtaining real OLBs, even if they are marginal. Putting 300 lb. linemen out there all year at that position is inexcusable. 4. Not obtaining a top notch TE through either draft.
  24. Anybody think Gailey stands a greater than 50% chance of getting fired if the Bills lose out? Perhaps somebody knows this, but who's the last coach (if there ever was one) that kept their job after losing nine games in a row to end a season?
  25. I think it's hard to predict what the Rams will do. They will have a new coach in place. I think they need offensive line, cornerback or WR talent over another high draft pick QB. They could pick Kalil and move Smith to Guard. Or draft Blackmon as a weapon for Bradford. The Vikings and Colts are historically bad on defense, and could use playmakers there more than a franchise QB. Their defenses stop less people than the Bills.
