  1. I think the Jets know what's coming. I don't think they will be able to stop it, regardless. I find Denver's strategy brilliant in a roundabout way. Defenses have been molded with lighter, quicker players, fancy cornerbacks and blitz schemes to defend against the pass, not against a punishing ground attack where a slew of RBs, FBs and your linebacker-esque QB is going to hammer away at you for four quarters with run play after run play. So if Denver's defense can prevent NYJ from getting out to a big lead, they are probably going to get run over. Very short week. Bad loss. No LT. Staring down a division of Bronco running tanks. I like Denver in this game.
  2. If Israel launches an attack, we all better hope they are successful. I don't think the US or Israel is Iran's largest threat, or even who this nuclear ambition is aimed at. It's convenient, however, dangerous public cover. I think all of the Iranian military buildup is aimed at Turkey, it's longtime foe in the region and Azerbaijan, which besides being an oil power, has invested heavily into Israeli military and commercial technology and equipment. I think the Iranians are looking east to assemble an oil empire, and take back Armenia, Azerbaijan and become more closely aligned with Georgia, and take back parts of Northern Afghanistan and parts of Iraq. Unfortunately, Turkey and for now, the United States, stands in the way of that grand plan. Nuclear capability puts them on par with the Turks. Persians love to empire build, whether in a historic or present context.
  3. What's done is done.
  4. This Miami game will show me a lot. Miami will replicate what NYJ and Dallas did. I want to see Chan and the gang adjust to it successfully. I feel the Bills will make the playoffs but it's going to be ugly, inconsistent and stressful in getting there. When your team is made up of misfit toys and young players, no one can expect a smooth, consistent run to the playoffs.
  5. Denver ran the ball 55 times against Kansas City and won. Houston ran the ball 44 times against Tampa Bay and won. Both Tampa Bay and Kansas City have fairly bad run defenses, but I think it shows a commitment to the run despite it being a "passing league" gives you a good shot at winning a football game by controlling the clock and punishing your opponent. It will be an interesting game to watch. The Jets have a middle of the pack rushing defense.
  6. I'm for it. If anything, I want defenses to have to account for him. He doesn't have to be a focal point of the offense but I want the opposing defense coordinators to have to game plan for him to open somebody else up. And while we are at it, I'd put Pat Williams on the same plane to Buffalo. If these are the stops that must be pulled out to get the Bills to the playoffs, I am all for it.
  7. Looks good, coach. Isn't Bell back this week or is he still out? I agree on Kellen Heard. I think he's a good player and considerably better than Troup.
  8. I bet he's as good as done in Philadelphia, new coach or not, in 2012.
  9. Talley is a good start. I wish that Merriman and Williams, despite being on IR, traveled with the team and were on the sidelines for every game.
  10. I wouldn't want to be him. In fact if I were him, I'd probably be miserable knowing that in my occupation, the very next weekend, it could all be over, and I've got nothing to fall back on. No education. No money. No job. No thanks.
  11. I chose power running game. Beat them mercilessly with running the ball which opens up opportunities to pass. Let's bring back the wishbone offense. We have big TEs, one of the better FBs in the game, and one of the best running backs in the game. We should use them.
  12. I like Chan as a coach but I think he tries out-thinking the room for some of these games and hates sticking with what works and doesn't use all the weapons provided to him. I think *the* issue is the game plan and his stubbornness to stick to what other teams have adapted to. They watched the Bills-Bengals game. We run some games. Others we don't at all. Some games Chandler catches passes. Other games he's invisible. We have a bulldozer of a FB but rarely use him. You must make the defense appreciate and prepare for the run to open up your receivers. As long as Chan's game plan does not do this, the team won't be successful.
  13. I wouldn't have done it for the girlfriend. A kid who's ill, or a member of whatever group (breast cancer survivors, veterans) is being honored that day in the stadium, sure.
  14. Run Freddie, run. I see your 44 running attempts, Houston Texans, and raise you 45 between Jackson, Spiller and McIntyre.
  15. It's a setback, but with Hairston and Bell back, it's not *as* bad. IMO, Levitre definitely deserves the Pro Bowl this year. By year's end at his rate, he'll be catching passes and returning kicks. I'd offer he's more valuable than anybody on the offensive line.
  16. It's the same reason Baltimore and Philadelphia are losing games. Ignoring your outstanding running back has its consequences.
  17. If FJ ran more, SJ would get more opportunities. It's fairly simple. Right now, the defense is glued to the Wide Receiving corps because of the play calling. It's almost as if Gailey has to justify Fitzpatrick's extension by having this pass-happy offense play calling. On a sidebar....interesting commentary coming from Jeremiah Trotter today on Philly sports talk radio. Said it's a "known fact" by players that the Philly front office can't be trusted when you're in a contract year. They will ensure you get less caries or less balls thrown your way to drive down your value. Of course, Philly is on fire today, but Trotter was adamant about his statement.
  18. I can sum up Casserly's paragraph. Run. The. Damn. Ball. You have FJ, Spiller, McIntyre, and Smith. Use them. That's how you beat the "Ryan" defense. The solution to the last two weeks is right in front of Gailey's eyes.
  19. I'm in the play calling crowd. I think that's the area of need for the biggest adjustment. Chan needs to adjust his playcalling instead of trying to force the square peg into the round hole and make Fitzpatrick make throws that just aren't there. He has to make FJ the focus of the attack instead of Fitzpatrick and his merry band of receivers. If the defense is going to take your receivers away, you run FJ at them mercilessly. And use Chandler, Chan. He can catch the ball. As for the defense, time for Wannstedt. George Edwards has had his turn.
  20. I wouldn't stop at T.O. I'd also bring in Pat Williams. Playoffs or bust. Pull out all the stops.
  21. I agree.
  22. Today was horrible. Agreed. However, I remain confident that this team will make the playoffs. It won't be easy and it's definitely not going to look pretty. We'll probably back in or it'll come down to the last game. However, the cosmic forces are aligned this season. The NFL Marketing Cartel has put the last 7 of 8 teams who changed their uniforms into the playoffs in their first year with the new uniforms. There are those that lose faith in the team. However, I don't lose faith in the NFL wanting to make money, and lots of it, despite your great powers at making a defense look like crap, George Edwards.
  23. I too am disappointed in the lack of playtime for Spiller and Smith at WR.
  24. I've got a question...which game is better for somebody that'd play it for the first time? I haven't played any of the previous versions of MW or Battlefield...but I really like what I see with the Battlefield commercials and reviews and it'd look fun to casually play.
  25. I fully expect the next three games, and especially this upcoming game against Dallas to come down to....field goals. The collective angst of Buffalo Bills fans is powerful and will not go quietly.
