  1. ...and that's why you might address the problem from another direction. You bring in Pat Williams, a free agent, can play either 3/4 or the 4/3 and he'll take up the linemen to give Williams and Dareus room to operate and create some holes for a linebacker on the blitz. Quicker, doable fix than a trade, and you aren't asking Williams at 38, to contribute for an entire season.
  2. Nobody is going to take on Freeney's contract.
  3. My big problem with last night's episode is that in an emporium of *lightly used* rides, they stick with that busted 70s Winny. An interesting thing I caught last night was that I had first believed that once you were dead, regardless of how, you were reanimated unless you were shot in the head. I believed that is what Jenner told Rick in the season finale. That doesn't appear to be the case with some of the dead people on the highway staying dead and not reanimating. (the hatchet man in the F-150) The helicopters in the season preview also caught my eye.
  4. How about Pat Williams? He himself won't rush the passer, but he'll create opportunities for the other guys.
  5. I don't know why the Rams did this with the season effectively in the tank. Bizarre trade.
  6. I'd support a change. I'm sure DW has input into the plan, but it's likely between ego and respect for the coaching hierarchy, that Edwards makes the decisions. I'm not sure how that change in coaching would benefit on the field, but I'd be interested in seeing what would happen.
  7. In the world of extreme possibilities, the only one on that list that would go anywhere would be Mathis. The problem is that you'd pay out the nose to get a 30 year old lineman and then have to sign him to a big contract. Mathis is productive, but how much of that productivity is due to teams having to worry about Freeney on the other side?
  8. I don't think teams are planning for Chandler. I think the coaches saw a weakness in that KC game that they could exploit, and well they did. And haven't since. Outside of Week 1, he hasn't caught many passes. Nine for a handful of yards with no TDs.
  9. Agreed. For whatever reason, the Bills coaches refuse to do what works two games in a row.
  10. I'd be ecstatic at 5-1 but I'm excited at 4-2. 4-2 at the bye? Beyond my wildest expectations. Good job team.
  11. Spiller finally puts it together as a receiver this game, and Gailey, once again, looks like a genius.
  12. More interesting question is who do you take between Lloyd and Wayne if both are available for the same price?
  13. That would make sense and good find. He's only ever been productive with Orton at QB.
  14. I think it's too early to rule the 2009 draft a *total* bust. Yes, Maybin is surely one. He's never performed. Some of those other guys have underperformed so far. I think Curry will end up proving us wrong. Seattle was playing him at the wrong position, so it never surprised me he wasn't as dominant in the NFL as he was at Wake Forest. Hopefully the Raiders put him at middle linebacker where he's' supposed to be.
  15. I don't buy it yet but I can see why the Colts might be open to doing it. Regardless if it's Luck or Manning back there, it's evident they have to overhaul that old team from top to bottom to stay competitive. Even with a healthy Manning, the sun is setting on the Colts fast with the combination of injuries, age, and busted draft picks. They will need lots of new draft picks to do it. IF you can parlay your aging wide receiver into a big, talented linebacker in next year's draft, it's enticing.
  16. All about the price for me. He had a great year in Denver, but otherwise with stops in SF, Chicago and Washington, eh and seemed to be only productive when Kyle Orton was QB. Further, if he had trouble with the old school Joe Gibbs, not sure how he'd manage with Gailey. Lots of questions. I'd be ok with swapping the 4th from the Evans trade, but nothing higher. I don't think the Bill absolutely need to do this move. The Bills seem to grow capable receivers on trees and I'd be happy seeing what Roosevelt and Aiken can do.
  17. Outside of the injury game of who has more healthy players as the season wears on, IMO the game that scares me the most is Washington right after the bye. It's a combination of bad memories of 2008 and a fear of the team coming out flat against a better than average Redskins defense. Overall, every game on that schedule is realistically winnable this year. No game strikes me as a "oh wow, yeah the Bills are going to get blown out in that one, no chance."
  18. I read your post and my brain instantly popped in the Miami Vice theme song.
  19. My first impression is that do I care so long as the Bills keep winning? No. Outside of analyzing tackle distribution, it's probably interesting to see how the defense performs after halftime. It appears that's when the defense gets gashed, not in the first half. And more importantly, why? That's my question to you guys on the board who know and follow the defense closely. Why is it we give up the bazillion yards in the second half and let teams back into would be blowouts? Fatigue? Inexperience? Change in strategy?
  20. The media loved the New Orleans story because of the hurricane, though. Without Katrina, not sure the media would have put focus on the Saints.
  21. In a league that markets the "superstar", nobody wants the team of misfit toys doing anything awesome and crashing that party besides all of us Bills fans. Detroit is palatable because they have "stars". The NFL and the national media would be horrified at having a team comprised of castoffs, 7th rounders and UDFAs making the playoffs, and heaven forbid getting to the Super Bowl. It would rip apart the time-space continuum and put a hell of a dent into the NFL's embrace and marketing of superstars. The NFL, on the surface, embraces parity, but not to that extent where a bunch of Average Joe's can beat Globo Gym. This team and its fans will never have a shortage of motivation to do well.
  22. I feel good about the Giants game. Looks like Tuck and Jacobs will be out. Baas may be out as well, along with the starting RG Chris Snee. With those three out, Giants had a 2.8ypr. You can run on Osi. I hope the Bills direct the attack on his side just like Seattle did. That's his big weaknesses as a lineman...he can rush the passer sure, but he can't defend against the run. You can run on the Giants overall. Seahawks had 145 yards on the ground.
  23. It is sustainable. We have new uniforms. Cosmic forces aligned? Check. The only person that has stopped the Bills so far this year on offense is Chan Gailey. If he runs the ball against Cincy in the second half, the team is 5-0. I'm enjoying this offense because the majority of teams won't be able to shut down both facets of the offense. Somehow shut down the ground game, we'll air it out. Close down the airspace, we'll pound it on the ground. The only defenses really capable of that in the AFC are ones with both outstanding linebackers and a secondary. Not many teams have both.
  24. I'd enjoy seeing T.O. back. Thing is Gailey thought he hit the wall back when he was hired, so I don't see how that opinion has changed, especially given TO's injury issues this year. T.O over Moss any day. At least you know T.O. is giving 100%. Can't say the same for Moss. With it unlikely that either would be approached by the Bills, let's get Kamar Aiken in the game.
  25. Didn't wear the colors today. This season, including every preseason, any game day I'm not wearing a Bills shirt or hat, the team wins. I wore a Bills shirt till 12:10am on the game day with the Bengals. Took it off like it was on fire, to no avail.
