What is the most boring NFL city?
PaattMaann replied to BUFFALOKIE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I haven't forgotten about the October surprise BUT you cant lump an otherwise usually beautiful time of year in Buffalo because of one freak snow storm (regardless of how much those two weeks without power sucked haha). October is the perfect fall, football, light jacket weather! You are right, thats too hot...I LOVE the heat, but I love the heat when I am by the ocean. -
What will Daboll's offense look like?
PaattMaann replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think either Hapless or myself are not choosing to be optimistic. We were discussing what needs to happen in order to predict what Dabolls offense will look like (the thread purpose). If he hasn't improved as an OC since his last go round in the NFL, we will be looking at a bottom feeder offense, as his other NFL offenses have been. If he has learned and improved (great chance at that, who isn't better at their job now than they were 8 years ago? who wouldn't get better coaching along side two of the greatest coaches to ever live?) then he will know what he has to do to get the most out of his players and his offense, and we will be pleasantly surprised with what we see him from offense. Will be an exciting year hopefully if its the latter. -
What will Daboll's offense look like?

no one is saying hes bad dude....read. Hapless and I are saying this: the real question this season is if Daboll is the type of OC who can get the most of his talent, regardless of what that talent is, because really good coordinators do seem to get the most out of their players. Daboll's best offense has been ranked 20th overall. That isn't a good track record in 4 years of NFL experience. BUT SINCE THEN, he has likely gotten a chance to improve himself as a coach by working with the best coaches in the business, and that has gotten him another shot with the Bills...we are hoping it is enough improvement that he now CAN get the most out of his players, regardless of talent. We aren't trashing him dude, relax. We are just trying to intelligently discuss the chances of him having learned since his last, not so great, go arounds as an NFL OC. -

What will Daboll's offense look like?
PaattMaann replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Daboll had bad offenses in cleveland, had the 20th ranked offense the next season as OC in Miami, and then a putrid offense in KC the year after that. Regardless of players (and the point we were talking about) a good OC can pull something out of them with coaching/system...so we are stuck with this question: Can Daboll do that? His track record of bad NFL offenses is not inspiring, but I am not sold on whether he can do that or not, but that will be KEY with how our offense performs this season - hence, has he learned anything since his last stint as an NFL OC? Based on who he has spent those years coaching with, I am betting he HAS and we will be impressed. -
why we will win 8 games or more: - "tough schedule" - this is said EVERY YEAR about us/other teams. And every year I say the same thing, we have nooooo clue if we have a hard schedule or not yet. Teams that were good last year might not be this year and vice versa. Saying schedules are tough or not is BS, thats why you play the games. - defense - defense was dominant at times last year and we have done nothing but add to it with play makers, or at least upgrades at several positions. Star, Trent, Davis, Edmunds...yes please. Another year older and wiser and better versed in the defensive system that has proven for over a decade to be successful against NFL offenses...yes please. There is no reason to think this defense will take another step forward this year. They got us into the playoffs last year (with an assist from Dalton), they can keep us around 8 wins this season. - Head Coach Sean McDermott (and staff) - he took a worse team to the playoffs last year by coaching the hell out of them up and down the roster. - Daboll - pure hope here. But can it get worse than we have seen for two years from our OC's (and also Tyrod)? I am looking forward to seeing a different, fun and innovative offense this year and beyond. It will be refreshing and give us an opportunity to win games on offense instead of just not losing. All pure conjecture here, but as I said, it can't get any more vanilla/boring/worse than what we have seen recently. At least 8 wins, could still miss the playoffs, but I am confident in at least 8.

I understand people sticking up for Buffalo....but for someone to argue that Buffalo has more to offer than New Orleans?????? LOL. New Orleans is one of the best cities in the freaking country for ANYTHING. I LOVE BUFFALO, but I'm no special ed. either. New Orleans kicks asssssssssssssssssssssssssss in almost every way possible (dam hot in the summer with no beach relief - delta doesn't count). -

I think many who are clamoring for us to add interior OL or WR help are off the mark. Some of us may not love what we have at those positions, but I think McBeane really does. They have upside and "their guys" in their minds. We could add a piece or two in a few weeks after other teams cut down, but I don't see anything earth shattering here. -

Foxborough Mass....what the hell is there to do in Foxborough? Its not in Boston, its damn near an hour away with traffic most days. THAT is the worst city to visit on the NFL list. -
What will Daboll's offense look like?
PaattMaann replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Considering Bodine has been a starter for four straight years in Cinci, I would list him (not saying he is a world beater, but has never NOT been a starter in the NFL). Zay Jones should not be discounted, he had a tough rookie season due to the space between his head...but I think he could crack "starter snaps" on some NFL teams for sure, not saying he would be a top two, but I think he can be competent. Kerley has been a slot starter for much of his career. Ivory has been a starter, at least shared carries throughout his career. We have no clue what we have in Allen at QB. I am not saying we will be even close to the best offense in the NFL, but having half of your players as starter level across the NFL isn't NOTHING. We have question marks, so does more than half of the league. And bottom line, really good coordinators can mask deficiencies and help pull out the best of players talent. Track record isn't awesome for Daboll in that regard, but hopefully he has learned a thing or two over the past five seasons and we will see a different, more seasoned coordinator. My two cents. -
where on earth are you getting this list???? not even close to correct

I need help: 2018 Bills Home Opener
PaattMaann replied to Mark Vader's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Stay downtown and then uber to and from the game if you like to drink. Or drive to Hammers lot if your not going to over indulge. If you stay in Orchard Park there isnt much to do around there. what do you like? do you like live music? do you like craft beer? do you do bars? love food? Craft beer: Big Ditch, Community Beer Works, Resurgence and Pressure Drop are all downtown area and have great beers Restaurants: you want to get chicken wings obviously. 9-11 Tavern is in South Buffalo and has great wings, you could take a day trip out to East Aurora on Saturday (25 min from downtown) and eat at Bar Bill Tavern - they have amazing chicken wings AND beef on weck, which is what you want to eat if your looking for Buffalo cuisine. If you want a "nice" meal, like treating yourself to something fancy, either go to Tempo or Bacchus (both downtown and both amazing). Bars: if your looking for bar experience, check out Chippewa for at least a half hour, just stroll up and down it on Saturday night and you will see some craziness, its not usually my scene because its pretty young, but still fun to see. There are also a couple bars you can pop in and enjoy yourself and not feel old (The Local, Bada Bing). I would go to any of the above mentioned breweries though myself. Culture: other than live music I can't help you. Culture is lame. If you want to see live music, Buffalo Iron Works has good bands, Town Ballroom and The Tralf Music Hall are both right down town and are bound to have some good music friday or saturday night. Gameday: def. go to Hammer's lot because the TBD meetup will be there, and theres always tons of guys and gals from here that you can meet, and there will be plenty of food and drink options at that tailgate for an out of towner like yourself without any gear. Get there around 7 and enjoy yourself. Might be worth it to leave for the stadium around 11:30/11:45 if you want to see the fieldhouse or the Bills store (if you are into that, its very kid geared though) or just to walk through the other parking lots and see all the tailgates on your way in. Take a few walking drinks and enjoy yourself. I would personally offer to hang with you during any and all of these activities, but I will be in Delaware the night before the home opener for a wedding. Will be getting in the car and driving right after the wedding, 8 hours back to Buffalo and jump right into tailgate mode. So perhaps I will see you at Hammers/TBD HOT - ENJOY!!!!!! -
What jerseys do you own?
PaattMaann replied to Seanbillsfan2206's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jim Kelly Blue is my jersey. I also have a custom BEASTMODE marshawn lynch jersey -
I couldn't agree more. And if you take if over the years you get similar results. Sure its cold and windy, but that hasn't stopped weak armed Tom "The Kid Kisser" Brady from lighting it up in cold and windy conditions. I HATE hearing the media say that Buffalo must get a big armed QB to play in the elements, such horse shat However, I don't think thats the reason this FO chose Allen. They went with all around potential here, and I will support it until it is either successful or the wheels fall off and they try again (or likely, some other FO combo)

Bills bringing in another QB, this time from CFL

Why the Allen project may be different
PaattMaann replied to Batman1876's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
agreed...there are reasons for optimism, and reasons for pessimism. I am an optimistic Bills fan because its more fun to positive about the hope for your favorite team. Last year I was positive but took a "wait for the baby" approach. They showed me the baby by jettisoning overpriced/not process type guys and creating cap room for the future while STILL making the playoffs with an average at best roster. I shall take that same approach this season, especially in regards to Josh Allen. -
dude, its not "click bait" because it was said on air, in an interview about the sabres...he said it rather casually as in "this guys was so awful, McDermott wouldn't even be in the same room with him", and then said "I wont get into a specific instance they had because I cannot confirm it". So he is confirming McDermott really disliked Brandon but wouldn't confirm an occurrence between the two because he was not sure. That is good journalism. What is difficult to comprehend here? There are two separate statements, one in which he confirmed, and has now been confirmed by other sources (McD really disliked Brandon) and one he would not confirm (a specific occurrence between the two). click bait, lol darryl is Russ?

Way too early look at 2019 FA
PaattMaann replied to whatdrought's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
plays well when? Hopefully he wont even have stepped on the field yet when free agency opens next year...I mean I agree people might want to be part of a good offense with a good QB, but they wont know if Allen is that or not yet -
Peterman gets cut if Allen shows he is even halfway capable of running the offense One or two of those WRs get PS'ed Lee gets cut (hopefully) (Long snappers are extremely specialized and valued. No, not anyone can just do it - in addition to their other duties. Once you master the skill, and do it correct every time, your an NFL lifer. There are a couple of camps that pump out basically all the long snappers in the NFL, its actually quite interesting. I don't have time to search for the article but there was a great one a couple seasons back about the road to the NFL as a long snapper. Quite good)

PaattMaann replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
not to mention they dont really have an aerial attack. Ridley caught 65 balls and then a bunch of dudes caught like 15. Thats what happens when your passing offense generates 2000 yards all year.... -

I really don't see us adding a WR at this point, unless one of our guys goes down. I think they see upside in some of our younger guys (and obviously just drafted two). They add a WR and then cut a guy they just drafted? Benjamin and Zay are locked in as the top two, Holmes they like obviously as they kept him all year last year when comp pick was out there, and the rest are young guys with potential/special teamers. Jeremy Kerley was signed and could be a nice 3rd WR, he has shown he can haul in a lot of balls in the NFL when given a chance. Dupree/Streeter/two rookies rounds out the WR room. I could see Dupree or Streeter cut if someone the team really likes becomes available but I would be surprised. *I am not saying I am OK with the WR room, I just feel like the team is. I would be all about adding a RT and another guard to the line after teams make some cuts. I could see that as an option. -
give it time...its a lot more fun to be hopeful than hopeless...and we just don't know (and wont for a few years)
