  1. Did the op mean Bills can't wait to cut Taylor loose?
  2. Deangelo Williams??? He's been a has-been for three years, but I get the point that if the OL is very good and there is sufficient passing threat, then there are a lot of RBs that might be reasonably productive. A lot of ifs there, though.
  3. This is exactly where I am. Talor isn't horrible, but he hasn't shown that he can really elevate a team. Objectively, if he were a FA, there would be very few teams truly interested in signing him to be a long-term starter.
  4. If that were true, then the Bils would have gotten a lot more for Watkins. The Bills' front office is not as clueless as you want to believe. They understand that when healthy he is a tremendous talent, but they also recognized that the injury risk is significant and that the Bills do not have a QB that can effectively take advantage of his skills. If he turns into a superhero in LA, it does not mean that he would have reached those levels in Buffalo with Tyrod. Self-awareness is important.
  5. Yes, they could have paid him $13M per season or more. They obviously determined that his injuries vs that kind of dough didn't warrant keeping him. If they had paid him and he missed several games and was ineffective due to injuries, people would be hollering what a stupid contact that was.
  6. The trade was to get something for Watkins rather than losing him with no compensation at the end of this season. I have no doubt that they knew that they were accepting a downgrade at WR when they made that trade, but they knew that he hey were unlikely to make the playoffs this year with or without Watkins, so we're happy to pocket the draft pick and what looks like a competent CB.
  7. No question about that, but the large majority of very good QB prospects are selected very early in the draft. If a QB prospect lasts beyond the first few picks in an NFL draft, it is because that prospect has either some less than ideal traits or has unanswered questions such as inexperience, coming from a non-pro style systems, injury history, size, arm strength, etc - For sure, it doesn't mean that prospects like that can't succeed, but the very best prospects go very early.
  8. As it always seems to be for Bills' fans, there is always something negative to draw - KC looked very good, good enough that their 1st round pick is unlikely to be very helpful in trading up for a QB in 2018. Looks like unless the Bills are bad enough to earn a top 3 pick on their own, the QB problem will persist beyond next year.
  9. A win would be good, but not an good indication of success against other opponents. I am not one who even believes that the Bills are any kind of lock to beat the Jets.
  10. I think that NFL -stable is different than walking around stable, but you can disagree...
  11. I would not be over confident as a Bills fan vs the Jets. The Jet's D is easily equal the Bill's D and both offenses look to be putrid. I would say that McKown is at least Tyrod's equal and likely Shady is better than the Jet's RB. I think the game will come down to who makes the fewest mistakes and whose kicker is more accurate.
  12. I don't suppose your friends were competing at an NFL level...
  13. Huh? Would,he have been playing kick coverage? Up front, I don't hate Flutie - he was a good story and how he might have played in the NFL in his prime is open for debate, but he was just a feel good story when he played for the Bills. Inspiring and exciting - yes, good not so much. His arm was shot by the time he joined the Bills.
  14. I think that your optimism about the defense is best-case. They have a LB core made up of 2/3 career special teamers and the secondary is all new and likely overrated.
  15. It may start with one win this year
  16. I would not count too heavily on beating the Jets. The QBs are a wash between McKown and Taylor and I think the Jets still have a better D than the Bills. IF the Bills win, it will be because McCoy has a huge day. Loooooong season a-comin'
  17. How is Mike Tolbert still on the roster other than because he played for the Panthers? Must be the new "Bills way" is to have old overweight never-was guys. Tolbert has never been anything special and he is carrying 15 lbs of extra weight in his gut. I hope that isn't the example that they want to set. Baffling...
  18. I don't understand this move at all. Hodges's looked quite respectable this preseason and played well last year in real NFL games. No idea who is the backup MLB, but the Bills now are in contention for the worst LB crew in the NFL.
  19. No big loss here(at least).
  20. Webb in not an upgrade over anyone. Just another not-good-enough guy
  21. Well, I try to be optimistic, but 2 of their 3 most talented players (Watkins and Gilmore) are no longer with the team and Vlad the failure may be starting on the OL in place of a much better player. That's the first level...
  22. There have been some real head-scratching moves the past few days. I freely admit that I am only a fan and not qualified to really assess the performance of players, but I cannot see any way that Jonathan Williams did not earn a spot on this team over Taiwan Jones or Banyard. If Ducasse ends up starting over Miller, I will be completely baffled.
  23. That was Rex's pick. Hard to criticize the pick - he was a great fit in the D he was drafted for and nobody could have predicted that he would tear his ACL.
  24. Why would you say that? They are trying to build a winning culture and Dareus is not getting with the program. Do you think that Bill Belichick would put up with Dareus' lack of discipline? You see zero players like Dareus on the Pats.
