Peterman may or may not be the answer, but Taylor has had 2 1/2 years and has proven he isn't the answer -

Stop. Tyrod has. It carried the team anywhere this year. They won early IN SPITE of him because the defense was getting turnovers at an unsustainable rate. Whenever the team falls behind or does not win with turnovers, he has at best a 25% shot to win. The worst part of this is how incredibly poorly this defense is playing. They are playing down to their tal by level now. Front 7 is awful. -

He sure was not winning games on his own. He lucked into wins when the defense was as out of its mind getting turnovers. They have faded BADLY, and Taylor lost his last two badly. -

2 INTS - MAYBE- were Peterman's fault. The entire team is devoid of talent. the first int was Demarco's fault, two were completely the OL's fault as Peterman was hit while throwing. let's not even look at the defense's inability to make a stop.... front 7 on d is embarrassing. not saying Peterman is the answer, but this is a total team bed-sh*t -

Can't pull him. This (untalented) team has killed him. no blocking from OL, POOR special teams play -they are starting in disadvantaged positions after every kickoff- has there been a kickoff returned out of the end zone this year that resulted in field position beyond the 25? add that he has NO WRs with Benjamin and Mathews out... -

We are seeing a team whos talent base was torn down to do a rebuild. I am not that disappointed. But this is for sure a terrible effort by the entire team. -
Who's been most screwed by the Bills? Of All Time.
OldTimer1960 replied to LA Grant's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was one wanting to give EJ more chances, but in the end he proved he isn’t an NFL starter. While I respect Tyrod’s effort and leadership, he also has proven that he is limiting the team. He has few turnovers, but defenses are no longer rushing him at all and are forcing him to stay in the pocket where he has proven that he will not throw to anyone who is not WIDE open. If you have a great defense, you can win in spite of Tyrod, not because of him. I want to be very clear that I have rooted for Taylor and recognize that he is better than most of the poor QBs that the Bills have started since Jim Kelly. BUT, that does not mean that Taylor is a legitimate starting QB for a hopeful playoff team. -

Nice - I can’t imagine anyone wanting to work for you! Keyboard Warrior says “just yell at them and berate them - that’ll scare em straight! -
I don't mean to be flippant, but why is that insightful? There is really NO ONE who is arguing that it would not be very advantageous to have a great QB. Everyone knows that. The difficulty lies in finding and acquiring one.

Should White return kicks?
OldTimer1960 replied to The Now Moment's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think that they should ever return kicks that land in the end zone. They rarely ever get to the 25 where they get it if they down it AND they risk a fumble and/or penalty. -
Tyrod is the best QB that the Bills have had in > a decade, but he isn’t a legitimate starting QB in the NFL in 2017. He just will NOT throw the ball unless somebody is open by 10 yards. That is NCAA level QB play. I acknowledge Taylor’s effort and leadership, but he is nowhere near ther answer for a legitimate playoff contender. Some will wish to argue that the (lack of) defense lost this gAme -and that is true, but no way Taylor is a decent NFL starting QB. I am not arguing that Peterman is the answer, but once out of the playoff picture (a couple weeks), he deserves a shot- or rather Taylor will have proven that he is not the answer.
-
I have a lot of respect for Tyrod Taylor, but he is not a good starting QB in the NFL. He WILL NOT throw the ball unless he has a receiver WIDE OPEN. That isn’t NFL QB play. Still, he is the best QB that this snake-bitten franchise has had in a decade. That speaks more to the problems this team has had in finding a QB, than it does to Taylor’s viability as a starter. I think it is unlikely that Peterman is the answer, but based on Taylor’s limitations and at least some hope we saw from Peterman in preseason and the garbage time today, I think that Peterman gives them a bit more of a chance than Tyrod does. I don’t expect a move to be made in the next few games, though. Tyrod is a respected veteran and fits the effort and attitude that this staff wants the team to embody. Given that, benching Tyrod would take A LOT.

Every Dareus hater, APOLOGIZE
OldTimer1960 replied to CanadianFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No doubt that Dareus is VERY talented and was helping the run defense. However, he is a major underachiever whose contract was paying him elite levels of money. He was clearly not going to turn the corner and become the dominant player he could be (and was being paid to be). I think that he is an ultra-talented happy-go-lucky underachiever whom you can’t win with. it is clear that ripping the band-aid off is going to expose the remaining under-talented starters, but in my opinion it is best in the long-run. -
Ahh, Zay Jones is improving, so TwoBillsDrive must find another player to label as a bust!

While I agree that Taylor has played pretty well, I think the view would be very different without a plus 14 turnover ratio. Agreed, Taylor does his part by throwing very few picks, but the rate at which the defense is getting turnovers is very high and won't be sustained over the long-haul. When the defense's rate of turnover returns to a normal level, then the offense will have to rely on Taylor to carry more of the load. We'll see whether he is up to it. To be clear, I am rooting for him, I just have my doubts that he is the long-term answer.

2018 draft would you be upset if
OldTimer1960 replied to Dboodrow's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Several of those "more than a few good prospects" are playing themselves out of high draft consideration. Josh Allen has been unable to carry his team, watching Mason Rudolph right now and he is struggling and Lamar Jackson has had a lot of trouble. Mayfield is kind of gutsy, but I think his size is going to be a problem in the NFL. It is actually looking like 2017 might have been the better QB class. Additionally, the Bills are playing well enough that they may not be within shouting distance of a good QB prospect and those extra picks from KC and the Rams are going to be late 1st and mid-late 2nd - nowhere near as high as we hoped when the trades were made... I think they will actually be hard pressed to find a prospect that is any better than Taylor. If I had to take a shot at QB, I'd probably take Lamar Jackson with KC's pick - if he is there. I would not trade up for him or any of the others listed above. Still, there is a long way to go and one or more guys could come on and become a better candidate -
