  1. I agree - I think DL is squarely in the conversation at pick 9 - likely the highest rated player available will be a DT or possibly DE. Even with the FA signings, I think an OT will still be a strong consideration, if the team feels that the value is close - they have brought in a guy who could play RT, if needed in Nsekhe, but at 33 y.o. he isn’t the long-term answer. As others have mentioned, I think Devin White (LB) could be in the mix as well. Lorenzo Alexander is still starting at one LB spot and there is no candidate on the roster behind him to take his place after this season. If they don’t take an OL in round one, I think that will be a priority in the 2nd. If Risner or McGary are available, I think they will be tempted.
  2. I like the first 2 picks, but I don’t believe that there is any chance that Sternberger is available late in round 4.
  3. I could see them drafting White and moving Edmunds to OLB where they could use his height and speed in more blitz situations. That could help both pass rush and run D with one pick.
  4. I don’t think that is the case at all. Some had Hockenson high before the combine, and his test results were very good, but not eye catching enough to move him way up. He is valued as a well-rounded TE who is a great blocker and good receiver. Most of the TEs coming from college are not good blockers - and blocking is a big part of playing TE.
  5. Finding a good solid starter at the 9th pick is fine. Here are the last 10 9th overall picks: BJ Raji, CJ Spiller, Tyron Smith, Luke Kuekly, Dee Milliner, Anthony Barr, Ereck Flowers, Leonard Floyd, John Ross, Mike McGlinchey I would say 2 of 10 (20%) were great - Smith and Kuekly), 4 were good at least for a while (Raji, Spiller, Barr, Floyd) 3 never panned out (Milliner, Flowers, Ross) and McGlinchey was promising in his rookie year, but too soon to call. So, if you agree with my assessment above, pick 9 has a 20% chance of being great, 40% of being pretty good for at least some time, 30% chance of being a bust and we don’t know about last year’s 9th pick yet.
  6. Are you just making an observation or suggesting that he would not be guilty (if allegations are true) because she should have known better?
  7. If th e report is true, his son has a broken arm. Now, that doesn’t MEAN, that Hill caused it, but given that he choked his girlfriend when she was pregnant- note that he pled guilty to that - it certainly SUGGESTS that he likely had a hand in it.
  8. I can get behind the Browns as a second team - their fans have been tortured as well. i like what Cleveland is building, but I’m not sure that OBJ is a great idea. He is surely a “top-end piece”, but has potential to disrupt that team. i understand “going for it”, but not sure he is an end-game piece.
  9. In my opinion, if you ar (over) reacting to this signing, then you are missing the big picture.
  10. No thank you. Jones is still a great player, but towards the backend of his career and I don’t see his remaining good years aligning with the Bills being talented enough to compete at the highest level.
  11. Difficult question to answer depending on what happened in FA. Let’s assume that they signed a likely starting OC and possibly an upgrade over Jordan Mills at RT. Did they re-sign Jonathan Miller to play RG? if they have only signed 2 FA OL and they had taken a non-OL in the 1st, then I would look very hard at an OL in the 2nd round before I would take any WR or TE. That isn’t to say that I don’t think that there are not good prospects among Debo Samuel, N’Keal Harry, Kelvin Harmon Paris Campbell etc, but rather that I think the OL is as big a need or more than receivers and that good WRs are of little value if the OL can’t provide at least some protection to the QB (who showed promise, but is still no sure thing).
  12. However, he did elevate the play of that college significantly. There is a difference between Allen not throwing for 4,000 yards on a team that was outgunned almost every game and DK Metcalf who is a physical marvel, but was the 3rd leading WR on a Mississippi team where AJ Brown had 2x the receptions that Metcalf did. Note that I am not saying that Metcalf may not become a great NFL WR, but why did AJ Brown and Demarcus Lodge out produce him at Ole Miss? To to be clear, I could understand why the Bills might consider him at 9 - he is obviously a hard working player, just look at his body. He comes from an NFL family line and I’ve not seen anything saying that he isn’t a worker or that he is a bad teammate.
  13. Antonio Brown is GREAT, BUT he is 31 and will be in decline within 2 years (IMHO). If the trade involved a 3rd round pick or later, then I could get interested in paying him a lot for 2 years. I wouldn’t want to trade even this year’s 2nd for a 2 year, very high paid WR, given Allen’s youth and limited talent around him. Remember, if you trade a high pick for Brown, you deplete cap space for FAs and presumably trade away a top 3 round pick.
  14. I disagree. I don't think a decent (not great) RT and C in FA combined with AB would have made the Bills serious contenders. First, Allen is still very inexperienced, the OL really needs 3-4 new starters, there isn't a TE on the roster and the RBs are all old. Now, I am not saying that all needs to be fixed (or can be fixed) this offseason, but the cupboard is really mostly bare on offense at the moment. If they can sign a couple of OL that are competent starters in FA and add another in the 1st or 2nd in the draft, then that would be progress. They don't have enough high picks in this draft to really make the offense over - especially if they decide to take a DL in the 1st (because they may well be BPA). A few additions will help a lot because the offense was so devoid of talent last year, but there is a long way to go to get to a very good offense.
  15. I'm not disappointed that a deal did not get done - actually, I would have wondered what they were doing? I think and hope that the plan is to build for sustainable success. I can't understand how trading assets for and then paying A LOT of money to a 30 year old WR to play on a team that is still a long way from having enough talent on offense to be serious contenders would be building towards that sustainable success goal. Now, it might make sense for a team like the Eagles or Chiefs who already are contenders.
  16. I agree that rounds 2&3 are not certainties, but I think you are being generous with saying McCloud is jury out. I could agree that Neal *might* develop and I don’t expect Vallejo to be a starter for long - I could be wrong, of course.
  17. Not dismissing those picks, but they are still long-shots to be big contributors. Yes, Milano looks like he could be a long term contributor, but beyond Milano they’ve selected Peterman, Tanner Vallejo, Taron Johnson, Siran Neal, Wyatt Teller, Ray Ray McCloud and Austin Prohel. Johnson could be helpful over the next few years and Teller might become a decent starter, but I don’t think anyone is missing Peterman, Vallejo, McCloud or Prohel
  18. I would not hate Ford at 9, but am hoping for better than a good OG at that spot. i could really get behind Simmons in round 2, but get ready for many to complain that they wasted the pick on an injured player who won’t be all-pro in his rookie year. I think it would be a great future investment at a (relatively) low price.
  19. 10 draft picks is a bit deceiving. The Bills have 1 pick in each of the first three (money) rounds. They have an extra pick in round 4 and an extra pick in round 5 and an extra pick later. Really, unless they can parlay the extra 4th and 5th into an extra 3rd, they are not much more than lottery tickets.
  20. I would not consider trading the Bills 2nd round pick for a $12M/year OG. There will be good OL prospects early in round 2 and they will be MUCH cheaper. Now, for sure, a draft pick won’t have the proven NFL track record that Zeitler has.
  21. I would not rule out Christian Wilkins at 9. He is worth that pick, in my opinion. Of course, there are other players worthy of that pick as well, but Wilkins could be BPA on their board at 9.
  22. They Pats win and they get contributions every year from "scrap" free agent that they sign and discard after they've gotten their use out of them. You can't have star players at every starting position and especially true of backups/role players.
  23. Agreed and for the analytics crowd, looking for players with prototypical, height, weight, speed is using analytics
  24. I am all for TEs with very good blocking ability, but if he is only an adequate blocker with an average of 6.5 receptions per year last 2 years, then I would hope that his blocking skills are top 10 in the league to warrant any offer.
