I'm surprised to see you take this stance. He's a guy who had physical talent but no experience that we took a shot on and it's beginning to look like it might pay off. Who knows what this guy's ceiling is? Sunday could be the biggest game he ever has or it could be the first of many. Let's hope for the latter.

Go watch the second half again and tell me if you think the defense played well enough to win that game. I'm not saying the offense and ST played well enough that we SHOULD have won, but we're good enough that we COULD have been in a position to win. Like I said, we could have scored 4 TDs in the second half and still lost. Lovie Smith watched that second half and felt bad for us. It was that bad. If you give up down 6 at the half you don't deserve to play in the NFL.

I thought Orton played pretty well yesterday. The first half was pretty shaky with the sacks and turnovers, but he still made some plays and he was pretty damn good in the second half. He overcame a lot of penalties to sustain drives and that drive to make it a one score game in the fourth was pretty impressive. I'm not suggesting it was a stellar outing, but better than what we've seen out of Buffalo QBs over the past decade.

Those all came in the first half, there were no second half turnovers and that's where we got stomped. Plus the defense didn't force any turnovers. Like I said, the offense wasn't good, but the second half defense didn't give the team a chance to win.

I know the offense wasn't great but the defense got schooled. We started the second half down 6 points. We could have scored 4 TDs in the second half and still lost. Yeah, the offense was bad, but the D was atrocious.

Problem is you play 2 halves and they didn't show up for the second one.

This reminds me of another deep question that puzzles me. Why do rich and successful men have affairs with women when they have perfectly good wives at home?

What teams thought Orton was the answer? I agree. I wasn't terribly satisfied with his overall performance today, but he did some things that impressed me. I'm almost as bummed about not getting to see what he could have done in a 2 minute drill down 8 after that TD drive as I am about the loss. I'm curious if he took the reigns and started calling the plays at that point.

That was an incredibly stupid call. I loved how Orton just took over right there. I would have loved to see what he could have done if he'd gotten the ball back.

I've seen Randy Moss drop a pass like that.

FireChan is sitting this week where I was last week - his whole team has played, he has the lead, and now he can only watch and hope he can hang on to that lead only to watch it slowly dwindle as the cold hard reality of an agonizing defeat at the hands of Rob's House washes over him. When Fred got the ball he gained positive yards on all but 1 carry, and on that one the defender was on him in the back field before he had the ball. If you don't see how setting up manageable 2nd and 3rd downs and punching in a TD from the 1 effectively helps the team I don't know what to tell you. Interesting that while you were watching the game you found Spiller's meaningless 15 yd run and fumble more effective than Fred's several 3-5 yd runs and TD.

Fred was effective. Bottom line. He had 1 negative run and a 1 yd TD to reduce his ypc. Spiller's ypc was padded by that awesomely idiotic run at the end of the half that he fumbled. Watching the game > reading the box score.

I'd feel a lot better if we'd gotten to 3-3 by losing last week and winning this week.

I just allow you to think you have control, but anyone who's watched Days of Thunder knows you can't be in control, or something.

Bob Jovi is pretty lame, but when I was in 6th grade that **** rocked. I'm not buying concert tickets but if it comes on the radio I'm not necessarily changing it. I might even turn it up.

I don't want to defend this behavior, but I'd imagine the cut on his sac was incidental and occurred while he was trying to hit his ass. I can't imagine anyone intentionally trying to hit a small child in the nuts. I don't know standard practice in that jurisdiction but it seems odd to me that the judge is ordering drug tests. If he had a drug charge or was a juvenile that would make more sense, but I'd love to know what % of those granted bond on non drug related charges are tested.

Ouch. Your tomorrow sounds like my today. Fortunately I've done my time now and get to spend the rest of the day watching college football. Hope you're getting credit for your sacrifice.
