  1. If anyone's interested in Matt Ryan I'll hear offers.
  2. I was high on Mettenberger since around this time last year. I was screaming at the TV to take him from the 4th round on. It didn't listen.
  3. Sounds like you dreamed up a bunch of negative stuff in your head, attributed it to Flutie, and decided to hate him for it just like you did Rush Limbaugh and Miller High Life.
  4. The split in the voting seems to dispel that belief.
  5. What's really sad is how arrogant they are when the point, which is not a hard one to grasp, completely escapes them. This is a time I wish I could put a permanent asterisk next to posters' profiles to remind me they're not playing with a full deck.
  6. I was going to bring this up in another thread in reference to the start of Brees' career, but it's just as applicable to the end of Flutie's. People forget how bad SD was back then. Flutie joined a team that finished dead last the year before. The offensive line was truly horrific; one of the worst I've seen. The receivers were abysmal and I believe led the league in drops that year. Their #1 WR was Curtis Conway of all people. LT was the only other talented member of that offense and he was a rookie who averaged around 3.5 ypc. I watched SD all season & 39 yr old Flutie played pretty well, but you'd have needed Peyton Manning to win with that crowd. Brees couldn't do it either.
  7. You just hate things that are awesome.
  8. Strangely the bulk of those who voted in the poll say they'd be against it.
  9. The problem isn't the wasted pick but the decisions of coaches & GMs to forego opportunities to improve the position because they're too invested in their mistake.
  10. I'd still hit it but I prefer her natural look.
  11. I'm with you. I like Orton & Watkins, but I'd like Luck to SJ even better.
  12. A lot of people just read the thread title and respond. It's a reasonable question you raise. The irony of your condescension is you completely missed what he stated in plain English.
  13. Can't do that, but my original offer's still on the table. Better to get some value than have him waste away on the bench.
  14. Week 8 - Bills @ Jets - Win Week 10 - KC @ Buff - Win Week 11 - Bills @ Fish - Win Week 12 - Jets @ Bills - Win Week 13 - Browns @ Bills - Win Week 14 - Bills @ Denver - Loss Week 15 - Packers @ Bills - Loss Week 16 - Bills @ Oakland - Win Week 17 - Bills at NE* - Win
  15. So what? If a guy hates it but still puts on a happy face for the fans I'd say he's a good guy. I'd rather be caned by a sadistic enforcer in Singapore than go to my daughter's dance recital, but I tell her I liked it. Am I an !@#$ for that?
  16. Wright over White?
  17. I'm always skeptical of second hand accounts like this. Johnson's friends and Flutie's friends probably see it differently. Hell, there are people who would tell you I'm an !@#$, and if you guys didn't know better you'd believe them. And FTR, in a fist fight I got my money on Flutie over Johnson all day.
  18. Dude, this is a bunch of ****. Not that I could fault a guy for wanting to start, but he was the team's best chance to win and he knew it. I can only assume you're pissed because he didn't take being benched for an inferior nobody like a good soldier. I don't blame him. He was in the twilight of his career and had earned that starting spot. If he'd been replaced by a competent QB that would be one thing, but he wasn't, and he knew it. I wasn't perusing message boards back then so I don't know, but maybe that explains why so many people who are otherwise reasonable lose their minds and say ridiculous things about Flutie. I can imagine if it was as obnoxious as the EJ Manuel Fanboy Brigade got that it could have left a mental scar that prevents people from recognizing his accomplishments.
  19. I see Hogan developing into a Jordy Nelson style WR. He also kind of reminds me of Eric Decker but isn't as big. Maybe a blend of Decker and Julian Edelman with a splash of Danny Amendola mixed in. Of course I could be wrong. He could end up being more like Brian Hartline.
  20. I was. I like OC, even if he is obnoxious and self-aggrandizing on occasion.
  21. I don't disagree, I'm just not sure how it pertains to anything I said.
  22. What's the relevance of that? Unless you're claiming ATL would have picked those same players, which they almost certainly would not have, it is utterly irrelevant for the purpose of judging the trade from Atlanta's perspective.
  23. Problem with that is rushing yards were trending down through the first 4 games of the season. It was a steady descent.
  24. It's hard for the FO to defend the trade based on the argument that they'd have used their original pick poorly if given the chance.
