  1. Not shocked as a target. incredibly curious to see what shows up on the field though. Could really go either way
  2. I’ll stress again the difference between me wanting it and me offering the possibility that it may happen. that said… kupp has always split snaps so a slight shift outside by him and Samuel, while Shakir also can move around the offense…. These guys aren’t all locked into splitting reps at a single location.
  3. im not entirely confident of that. I think a coin flip he retires due to lack of serious interest. Pull out kickers and QBs and he’s among the oldest guys in the league to some degree, even on a cheap deal…. His history is tough to carry. Fans will be perpetually disappointed
  4. I fully understand all of that and pointed out this issue last offseason but there we were drafting Keon and not adding perimeter speed so now I’ll say I’m not shocked if we bring in the king of the slot with 3 of the guys you mentioned not achieving like we would hope I don’t know. You do the full reset and come out with major flexibility because you intend to push chips on the table not to be thrifty
  5. he also may be a good presence for not just Keon but also dalton too
  6. some less talked about names I think Bynum could be sneaky instead of holland adebo? nothing about him fits but for some reason chase young sits as a guy that I suspect is higher on their list than mine. Haason reddick might be a devalued swing at getting pressure without paying 30m I wouldn’t be SHOCKED by Kupp instead of cooper/hollins
  7. I’ll go ahead and say it… Pickens? realistically, I think kupp or cooper end up our guy on the carousel… depending on what was behind the scenes last year
  8. absolutely won’t last 5 years but that allows them to fully amortize the signing bonus for the max of 5 years id bet he’s like 60-70 but you never know. Really doubt it’s past 60% (ie 3 years)
  9. he has been a 4 quarters instead of a dollar kind of guy outside miller. you hope that situation doesn’t sour him on the huge swings you sometimes need
  10. it’s not like he’s with a franchise that’s refusing to spend or is cheating out. They missed on von due to injury and diggs wore out his welcome a year early -
  11. yea, I guess he’s a great receiver like parsons is a great end? Maybe not the 100% polished and complete player but does the premium part of the job with top tier skill? And a guy that can press down field and keep safeties deep is our weakest piece of the offense too.
  12. not sure about “finally admits” I think beane himself would’ve said in private the day of the injury that he put chips on the table and lost the hand on this one. sometimes they just don’t work out. The tire blows on the car and you are left limping to the nearest exit ramp. Today we reached it.
  13. easy to create narratives. We will see. The oft article references the lack of charges after discussions with a third party. I haven’t followed this one closely but in plenty of spots a simple allegation will get cuffs on you without much confirmation. could be exactly what you said. Could be the proverbial extortion gone poorly nearly as easily though. Domestic stuff can be terribly messy and tough to assume about
  14. I don’t dislike the guy… it’s just really difficult roster construction unless he really breaks out. And he hasn’t. and your comparison is a guy that was a backup for 3 years and got 13.5 in his first year starting. Not really a fair career arc to compare totals for. if you compare him to 64 starting DEs, above average. If you use top 32 edge rushers… gets rough. Hard to find a path to the top 10 which means you are quickly talking “average” as a ceiling. In no particular order perusing my memory and typing on my phone… Garrett, Crosby, bosa, watt, Hutchinson, burns, Anderson, Allen, m sweat, hunter, Hendrickson, bonnitto, parsons… is this range with like chubb, van ginkel, van noy, the young pair in LA, the old guys in LA, karlaftis where we start to get debate on whether we pick Rousseau as our pass rusher if it’s 4th and 10 in the 4th quarter of the AFCCG next year and we need a stop to win the game? surely we could debate a few guys there but the range generally seems “in the teens” which is pretty definitionally average
  15. he’s roughly average to slightly below for a primary pass rusher. a veteran roster can only pay so many of “those guys” and still have the elite guys getting 35-40M put another way, would you rather cycle guys like Josh sweat/floyd/etc… on short deals and add a $30m guy, or are we better with groot/shakir? personally I think having a couple true cornerstones and cycling lower tier vets and draft picks is my preferred but see miller, vonn for how it can go wrong
  16. yea I think we have always had a bit of debate on a couple super stars vs extra 2nd/3rd tier strong role players at some point I still think you need 2-3 guys that change the entire field. We have Josh… but shakir and groot don’t keep a coordinator up at night trying to figure out how to contain them while still playing to their own strengths. Oliver gets closer to that but isn’t Chris jones or Aaron Donald. we need to find that guy on the DL and would like to see a pass catcher of some variety that gets much closer to that tier.
  17. or at least a poll for what our group wedding present will be
  18. and in our division, the best part of that is .500 would’ve taken the crown last year. We won’t always win by 5 games by going 3-1 every month but there’s a reality that if we lose Josh for 4-6 weeks we probably aren’t chasing the 1 seed and are resigned to winning a very winnable division and letting the rest shake out in the playoffs with Josh back the difference between the 2 seed and a barely .500 4 seed is one game home vs away. load up a playoff roster and have a marginally passable backup that won’t go 0-6 and miss completely.
  19. the real dream would be scoring more than 31 AND Josh taking fewer hits running
  20. essentially trading him out for miller in a similar pay for production type deal- maybe a possibility. I’d rather his upside than VM at this point
  21. I ought to invite you to my fantasy football league if you like that lineup
  22. marquis brown is coming off 1 year 7m and didn’t improve his stock. so like 2 Hollywood browns and some coin leftover or cook
  23. ill continue to say that part of his support here is because we are lacking explosive guys on the perimeter. Theres a fear if he goes that there’s no electricity left outside JA17
  24. it’s basically impossible to have a guy that’s predictably a stud DE go at 30 you are taking either character or injury risks or forecasting them to outshine their measurables there
