  1. If hes the 3 down mlb and can’t playcall look for a guy like Hyde to be number 2. Ideally Zo won’t be on the field enough snaps for that job
  2. Ive also said I would be surprised if he was picked in round one by anybody as he’s a completely normal day 2 prospect and after a huge free agency and first round run I’d be shocked if there were enough holes left for teams to go nuts overdrafting a lower upside guy like this
  3. We are going to have dozens of threads about Allen’s footwork. Based on clips where you can’t even see his feet. ”based on the angle of his knee bend you can tell the spacing of his steps is 1/4 inch off when he steps up to the Gatorade jug”
  4. Not only has he questioned his longevity - a backup is likely to see snaps and having a good one may help you win now as opposed to a depth player elsewhere
  5. “I think a few teams rank him highly” is all it takes to put a guy high in a mock. And some teams did. Was there a split among GMs though? Probably. But who knows how widely.
  6. Who is bent out of shape about it? The only times a controversial story really blew up was when the president got involved in the kneeling and the ray rice video. otherwise, it all blows over in about 3 days
  7. These things are rarely the media disaster fans insist they will be.
  8. When you fire a coach that’s often a situation that sees a new gm hired. Scouting staff is a very basic extension of that. Trainers can go either way. Football guys bring in their own football guys. Russ was misconduct.... so we’re talking about a PR guy and some analytics folks? The way it went down was weird with Whaley being fired post-draft but the idea of teams doing complete overhauls isn’t really that strange.
  9. A lot of your list is pretty basic for when a new HC/GM come in
  10. I don’t doubt that- but I think that we should’ve just retained the scouts and hired a new GM in January instead of post free agency and draft it seems dysfunctional to handle it this way if that’s what happened.
  11. To dictate that the GM couldn’t be at initial meetings comes across as an issue right out of the gate. I’ve not been super comfortable with how pegula has handled things - but fingers crossed it’ll work out
  12. Mayfield did have his own character question marks. while your take on each guy may be accurate, it feels like you are letting your opinions color your arguments too strongly
  13. After last year I would expect the same comment whether the expectation was starting day 1 or a straight red shirt. He wouldn’t event name Tyrod starter over peterman
  14. Elway was a common one for luck and I’ve seen it a few times for allen (obviously best case, but again just looking at qualities and not results)
  15. This did not age well
  16. Thats what I’m getting at. If allen was at every major camp since he was 12 and had harbaugh odds are he’d be a little more polished. Likewise if we step back from their reputations of being perfectly polished vs major project...again, luck in a great college system was 70% but nfl he’s 59%.... Allen’s probably smarter than given credit for... did maybe results and reputation widen the reputation gap? I’m talking looking at the paint not the painting. Figured I’d throw it out as a closer than Cam example
  17. Yea- I was trying to give a curveball that relied on traits and stepped away from pedigree. Wentz is the obvious choice but I think folks forget that luck is athletic and sub 60%. Identical wonderlic scores too. If you dropped allen at Stanford under harbaugh would we talk about them more similarly?
  18. Itll sound crazy at first but.... Andrew luck? Prototype build, high IQ, sub-60% career completion percentage, big arm, mobile but not a big time runner... obviously very different pedigrees, but... would that be a better current comp for Allen’s upside (ignoring the shoulder injury)
  19. They are common in being unpolished shut huge talents... beyond that, spotty. Not terrible but spotty as a comparable
  20. Of course it’s possible to fix- but history shows he’s likely about a coin flip and those would be high on the list of things that might land him on the wrong side. Itll be an an exciting season. Fingers crossed for good outcomes.
  21. Why don’t you hold your own assertion to that standard?
  22. You said there was no reason. I was just giving the possible reason. Not saying it’s a slam dunk towork out. You guarantee a bit extra, give a little less per year, he gets some coin in his pocket up front.... its a risk but that’s how you get a discount if you want one.
  23. That there’s some risk would ideally save money. That’s the reason.
  24. So what your saying is you made up your mind and it’s not much worth discussing
