“Still Miles Away” -Colin Cowherd

While many of your points are fair you have to go back and read this and think that you may be failing to realize some of your own biases, right? The 3rd WR in Dallas resembles Andre reed? and yea, the foster - Allen connection has potential to look like Big Ben to Antonio brown.... or like JP losman to a udfa. Odds are we hit on some of these guys and miss wildly on some. And that’s why I think it’s important to push chips in now when we can and over collect talent still. -
Superdome Renovations $450 Million

It’s a single large terminal totally separate from the current in the same general area though. The old is being retired. Pretty accurate summation. The nfl tries to drive down rate on a good portion of the inventory. Those that play still come out ahead of a normal weekend- but while they are getting 3-400 a night, their competing properties can see rates upwards of $1,000. It can be tricky to get enough people into the official bid. Minnesota had a little less challenge given how offseason it is for them but also some major players stepping up to dedicate all their local inventory. It’ll be back to Nola soon enough, they won’t stay away... but new stadium plus very aggressive city bid leapfrogged minny into the rotation -
Best Route Concepts for Third Down

If you aren’t throwing at the sticks you may as well throw far past the sticks on 3rd -
Alongside the “why did josh go top ten and the UB kid not get drafted” thread, a blind stars comparison amused me

The minimum standard for his rookie year is top 5 sacks from his position? That feels more like talking than walking -
Which One - Fitz, Tyrod, or Barkley as Your Your Backup?

Yup. -
Im not sure. I’d guess most are coached not to move like that, but that several could. Especially vs soft competition itll be interesting to watch. I suspect he will be a bit boom or bust. If the athleticism shortfalls catch up to him it could get ugly fast but his non traditional movements might be key to really breaking out ala a guy like Leveon

Dramatic much? Ill again echo that I think the implication here is that McD had his friend, this guys DC, chirping in his ear about what a great young guy he is and maybe McD likes the character of men of the lord, perhaps even at the expense of a few ticks in the 40 or excusing an arm that’s a little weaker. If this same player was at ASU maybe he doesn’t get the call? I suppose it ends up being a Rorschach test for what you think of things like playing peterman and drafting proehl. i do think late in day 3 they’ve been ok taking risks on guys they like instead of the best football players. It doesn’t bug me much though as you normally see 1-2 starters total in round 6. If they throw a pick at investing in their intel pipeline and having a good personality at camp - go for it. It’s not like he’s truly less likely then anyone else on the board at that point and he will be easy to root for. Hopefully we don’t see him get burned though. ?♂️ -
You may as well say he became the raiders longest tenured kicker - most top scorers are kickers http://www.espn.com/nfl/history/leaders/_/stat/points not just a product of longevity though, they just score a lot http://m.espn.com/nfl/leagueleaders?groupId=9&season=2018&seasonType=2&statgroup=scoring&category=totalPoints id be hard pressed to say he could possibly be worth a first when you could simply pay the top free agent kicker a boatload and still come out ahead with the savings on even an average de, cb, wr on a rookie deal

I now understand why the Bills passed on DK Metcalf

Were you confused before this article? -
Not to mention the dead money created by moving MD who would be a fine enough plugger til we get to the easy to cut portion of his own deal. The cap dedicated to run stopping DT is definitely high.

What does our defensive line base look like?

Hed have to flop massively to not have the spot. Even worst case he’s getting a ton of reps in a standard rotation, regardless of who is in the first snap. -
Hard to imagine Derek Anderson making the roster

I suppose the debate is do you protect him or do you protect a guy like sills, the latter picked tight end, the new safety, maybe carry an extra cb or olineman. Especially with salary fully guaranteed if he makes week 1s roster plenty of teams carry 2 and keep extras on speed dial. If Barkley is #2 I think we’d be safe telling him to stay in shape and ready for a call that we would make worth his while. -
You widely misstated the cap needed for the rookie class, ignored that often extensions keep flat or even can lower this years hit for a player as they want signing bonuses and those amortize and then picked a relatively arbitrary number for emergency funds. Basically you rounded everything up drastically and made it look like we are substantially tighter then we really are. We have incredible flexibility based on a huge amount of space left. We are nowhere near a situation where we going to run up to the cap with extending a guy or two.
-
No worries! And that ones not even a cap rule, it’s just a metric that website uses to give a clearer picture. I hadn’t noticed it before but makes some sense for quick references
-
The brush you’ve painted with is so broad that it actually hindered people from understanding the cap situation if they take you at the surface
-
Signing cheap insurance policies to flexible contracts you can get out of with only 90k dead money is very much how good teams operate. That’s less than a half of a tenth of 1% of our cap. Its akin to the effect on your annual budget of deciding to grab a dozen eggs at the store when you aren’t positive if you are out. Even if you don’t use a couple it’s not the end of the world and better than running out for pennies risked. Did you notice they all match? Looks like they define effective cap as the max remaining if carrying a full roster (so for future years a team with 21 players signed doesn’t appear to be sooooo far ahead of the cap because it factors in another 30 league minimum placeholders but in 2019 every team already has 51 guys calculated in)

DTs are always rotational and we got one that can make a big impact in that rotation immediately. you are also overrating Harrison Phillips On some level I’ve got to ask if you are really concerned about the shift in about 5 or so snaps a game between 2-3 guys?
