  1. Definitely the best for lightning. At my golf club people literally look for me when bad weather approaches, I'm always the first one off the course. I tell folks if I'm walking off you can probably get a few more holes in, might even miss us all together and get your whole round in. If you see me running, keep up.
  2. Can't saying this get you fired at Cornell? Ah, "senior" professor, probably has tenure so he's safe
  3. If there was a "B" move academy awards Beer League would be a multiple winner. As mentioned in other threads, whenever some guy orders a beer that is best served with or has the name of a fruit in it, or a white claw or similar "girlie" drink, I use the waitresses last line.
  4. Great idea, fixed now.
  5. re I believe that sanctuary cities do not increase crime. - cities don't increase crime, their policies allow for the increase in crime rates. re I believe that illegal immigrants commit crimes at lower rates than native born citizens. - To use your term, "Illegal immigrants" have committed a crime by being here. Their crime rate starts at 100%. Any additional crimes committed by illegal immigrants (again, to use your term, I prefer foreign invader) are crimes that would never have happened had sanctuary cities enforced federal laws. re I believe these things because they are supported by data and studies. - These data and studies are selective as to which crimes they choose to include. Again, they choose to exclude immigration law. re Therefore, I believe that people whose arguments that sanctuary cities and illegal immigrants increase crime rates are either ignorant or lying. - Actually, and again, people who argue in favor of sanctuary cities are the ignorant and lying, and selective as to what laws they choose to include in their argument.
  6. The term actually originated during the Ford administration, developed by some economist. Adding the inflation rate to the unemployment rate. Carter ran with it and made it a campaign issue in 76. (Sadly I remember.) The misery index under Ford was over 19% in early 75, but dropped to around 15% as the election neared. Still high enough for Carter to win a somewhat close race. As karma would have it, the misery index never got better under Carter, swelling to 22% and a landslide Reagan victory in 1980.
  7. Ask the parents of anyone with a late September/early October birthday.
  8. Have to agree with this one, somehow I think if 8 out of 10 kids in Dr. Naismith's YMCA camp could have dunked the ball he would have risen the peach basket another foot. Also agree with the palming and traveling rules being enforced. I remember 20ish (probably more) years ago ESPN had this vote for play of the week segment. One of the candidates was a guy being double or triple teamed, takes 3 steps around his pivot foot, then pivots on the other foot, and jumps up off both feet for a dunk. I'm thinking this is a play of the week candidate and it was a blatant travel. Stopped watching around that time.
  9. Well, I woke up one morning a year or so ago, was 67 at the time. Suddenly realized that not even the O's live to 134 and that I have more yesterdays than tomorrows (both my parents lived well past 100, good lord willing my Aunt turns 100 next month.) At the time I usually spent between $14 and $17 a bottle but decided to up my game or leave more than I want behind.
  10. re "Come on Congress! Pass this measure, give Trump the money he needs." - good to see we have common ground re "But no, this will not save the USA money," - Agreed, the disaster created by Biden/Harris border "policy" (can it even be called a policy?) will be expensive to rectify. Better we realize this up front. Always more expensive to fix a problem than prevent it, especially when the fix involves a redo. The fix was well underway when Biden/Harris took over, now it's back to square one. WHAT A MESS they created. re - "...it will hurt the country." - Guess we can't agree on everything. Totally disagree. Since we're deadlocked at 1-1 on this one, we'll let Laken Riley or the yet to be identified women that was burned in the subway by a foreign invader cast the deciding vote. re It does seem like they just hope congress can't pass anything and nothing happens. - Certainly would have been better off if Biden/Harris had done nothing. From A to V (Afghanistan to Venezuela) everything they touched was a disaster.
  11. Agree that it is a good example of hypocrisy. However, it is not a good example of an unqualified pick doing a good job. In my opinion, quite the opposite.
  12. Red wine. I just splurge for the $40 bottle instead of the usual $25 bottle.
  13. Let me help Irv out here. WHAT A MESS.
  14. Why are any tax dollars being used? Shouldn't the company that knocked it down pay for the new one?
  15. Which leads to the bad case scenario, they don't know what the hell is going on. But I guess we knew that from the audits.
  16. Good case: Pentagon has been lying all along. Bad case: Pentagon doesn't have any idea what's going on. Most likely case: A significant amount of both good and bad case scenarios.
  17. "...as you know, with many of our deployments, numbers will fluctuate from time to time..." You know, 900, 2000, difference is insignificant.
  18. Wonder how much the league will fine him for this
  19. On a message board? Who would have thought!! (sorry, to use your words...I hate to do this, but am compelled.)
  20. Yeah that pretty much made up my list off the top of my head. Maybe add Moon in one or two seasons, but we always managed to get past Houston in the playoffs so on second thought no.
  21. Which is about where he rated against his contemporaries in his prime...actually 3-6 but whatever.
  22. His use of timeouts the last two weeks is a macrocosm of the last 8 years. I freak every time he calls timeout on third or 4th and long and the other team is scrambling. Sean to the rescue, lets call timeout and make sure we have the correct defense called. Last week was there any chance we weren't calling tush push again if we didn't score on it the first time? Lets call timeout to make sure. Who needs 3 anyways. And taking the holding penalty instead of 4th and 7? Sean lost us that game and almost this one. Do you really think Detroit would have run this play on 4th and ten had Sean not called a timeout to make sure we had the correct defense called? (forward to 4:15)
  23. Crap, this might be twice in in the past month (or is it two?) that I've agreed with you. Maybe compromise isn't dead after all.
  24. Only power rankings that matter come out on February 10th.
