I'll ask for a 3rd time... what year should they have won the super bowl? Which year did they lose in the playoffs to an inferior team?
-
I do. Online isn't the real world. Twitter, facebook, even this place. Anonymity gives people courage to be douchebags and whiners. When I interact with people in person, I find them to be just as pleasant. Even if we have different political ideologies, sports rooting interests, or whatever the outrage flavor of the week is, I still enjoy being around the people I enjoy being around. People just need to step away from the keyboard and realize that online interaction isn't as authentic as in person interactions. Agreed. It may be because I was a kid during the super bowl runs and I didn't realize how special it was, or maybe the drought made me appreciate this success more, or maybe it was a rearrangement of my priorities after starting a family. Whatever caused it, I love watching this team. I was emotionally drained at the end of last year. The 13 second fiasco sucked but I immediately moved on with my life. This is without question the 2nd best stretch of the entire super bowl era for this team. I'm not going to miss out enjoying the ride.

To all the Fire McDermott Posters, a follow up question..
section122 replied to ChicagoRic's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly! I have asked in 2 different threads which playoff game did McD lose to a team that wasn't at least as talented and nobody has answered. He wins the games he should and there are plenty of coaches including Reid who have very poor performances. Here are some Andy Reid stats framed in the mcd bashing style: In a 10 year span from 09-18 he had 2 playoff wins and missed the playoffs 3 times in that span. Quick math had him at 2-7 for those 10 years. He got bounced by the cowboys 34-14 in the wild card round in 09. How about his own 27-10 loss to a buccaneers team he had beat by 10 in the regular season in 02. For the first 20 years of his career he had 0 super bowl wins. I could do this for every coach in the Nfl. -

I'd prefer a different less abstract question for the mcdermott bashers. Which year did the Bills lose in the playoffs where they should have won the super bowl? Even the 13 seconds game. That was a divisional game they still had 2 more games to win and the Chiefs lost the next week at home to the Bengals. So instead of hearing how he blew it I would really like to know which year was THE year -
Jags have a reall easy argument for having a better wr crew than the Bills do. Paired with an offensive coach who can perhaps help him learn a different style. Perhaps he felt it was a better situation. I have no idea why someone choosing to live in florida over buffalo is that hard for you to believe. Or maybe the Bills didn't like the progress their young receivers were making and moved in a different direction. There are a million reasons it may have happened. Why so negative?

I love Josh Allen. He might already be my favorite player ever that said.... Mahomes is clearly on a tier of his own. His floor is hosting the afc championship game. From there I have Allen and Burrow as the next 2 guys. I cant argue against anyone who puts Burrow over Allen or vice versa. Last year though the injury hampered Josh imo and Burrow had a better year. Unsurprisingly (albeit disappointingly) to me it was Burrow v Mahomes in the afc championship game. Which again goes to my point, the Bills were not a better team than either the Bengals or the Chiefs by the end of the year. Injuries took a lot of talent off the field. That was a much bigger factor than McDermott imo.

I will defend and support McD every time. He is the winningest coach in team history by win % in the super bowl era. He has the 2nd most wins in the playoffs and regular season. Last year the Bills lost to the Bengals. Setting aside your homer glasses, does anyone really think the Bills at that point were as talented as the Bengals? Preseason, I think they were. By the time the game was played the Bengals were the better team. Burrow is at least as good as Allen. The receivers are much better than what the Bills have. The RBs for the Bengals were better. When you switch to defense, the Bills were missing Hyde and Von, they had a banged up Poyer, they were starting their 3rd string safety. As much some posters want you to believe the Bills should have won the game and therefore McD blew it, I disagree. The 13 seconds is a tough pill to swallow. Not kicking it squib style and forcing a few seconds off the clock is certainly on coaching. That said, those 2 teams were even and 1 has Mahomes who is BY FAR the best QB in the game. I will grant this to those that are upset with McD but as you will see that is the only one. They made it to the AFC championship game. With a beaten up Diggs and Beasley and lost to the trio of Mahomes, Kelce, and Hill. I think at this time the Chiefs had a better, more experienced team. The Chiefs were 14-2 and at home for this game. The Texans game, again on the road, against a team with a better record. Perhaps you remember the black shirts coming out and changing the ruling? No matter your thoughts whether it should have been a td (wrong imo) or a safety (correct imo) points were taken off the board. Or perhaps you remember the screw job on the block call that negated what would have likely led to the game winning fg? Perhaps like me, you don't want to blame the refs and instead want to compare teams. Josh was still not quite Josh (Sugar High Josh anyone?) and his best receiver that day was Duke freaking Williams. Can we talk about the tank year? I remember the pit feeling when I saw that Watkins and Darby had been traded. Remember early in the year when people were asking if the Bills would lose to Alabama? Or when a player retired at halftime week 2? They didn't even finish last in the division. Lastly he coached a team that hadn't been to the playoffs in 17 years, a team that was projected for 6 wins, to 9 wins and the first playoffs in 17 years. All in all, he has had 1 losing season in his career. He has yet to lose a playoff game in upset fashion (one where he had the better team going in). You can hold 13 seconds against him, however all this ridiculous talk of him not being good enough is just based off of how last season ended. The discounting of the team watching a teammate LITERALLY DIE ON THE FIELD in front of them is unbelievable to me. I'm just a fan who was watching at home and it was very jarring. Seeing the players and how they performed after, it was clearly an issue for them as well. Here are some numbers: There are only 9 active coaches who have won a super bowl. 5 of those coaches won theirs 10+ years ago. There are only 5 active coaches who have been to at least 2 super bowls. 3 of them have only been to 2. There are only 2 active coaches who have won 2 or more super bowls. They had Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes. I love Allen but he isn't on their level. Winning the bowl is hard and takes a lot of luck

I think the NBA lends itself to following players more than other leagues because its 1 out of 5. Basketball and football are my 2 sports and im a lakers fan because of magic. I will always follow and root for them over every other team that said there are a ton of players I love to watch play. I won't say I root for them but I enjoy watching them. Kd, jokic, jamal murray, steph curry, lebron among others are all a blast to watch play. There are also players I hate the way they play like Harden comes to mind for 1. To the op i think people care too much about others rooting interest. I don't care if people switch teams. I would never blame a commanders fan for switching. Or even a pats fan following brady and rooting for tb too. It's all entertainment in the end.

Just took a look at Joe Marino (locked on Bills) horizontal draft board and here is who he has through the 2nd round. This is a Bills specific board but I left the TEs off because they already grabbed Kincaid. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1Y3yiGJxznx-SkzJLxqkS1ygb8zLvfym6ZJr1lOloVrU/htmlview#gid=0 Top Half round 1 - all gone Back Half Round 1 - Had Kincaid here btw Still left: Mathew Bergeron OT Bryan Bresee IDL Keeanu Benton IDL Ade Adebawore IDL 2nd Round - Zach Charbonett RB Tyler Scott WR Marvin Mims WR Jalin Hyatt WR Josh Downs WR Dawand Jones OT Steve Avila IOL Toe TIppman IOL Cody Mauch IOL O'Cyrus TOrrence IOL Keion White Edge BJ Ojulari Edge Isiah Foskey Edge Gervon Dexter IDL Drew Sanders LB Brian Branch S 20 names several should still be there when the Bills are on the clock. -

What's the list? If you don't mind sharing of course. -
Damn what a rough run of picks there. Bresee is the guy that makes me the most nervous of the possible picks left.

I do wonder how open schoen is with beane about what he wants to do. I know gettleman shared freely w beane wonder if that communication is still open.

Will DeAndre Hopkins be available this offseason?
section122 replied to NeverOutNick's topic in The Stadium Wall
I want to address these 3 points specifically 1. The only way to produce is by getting a high volume of targets. However Hopkins will draw attention and force defenses to not focus solely on stopping Diggs. If they double Diggs, Hopkins can feast and vice versa. 2. Can't argue the fact but can add context. He missed the first 6 games from a PED suspension (non-injury) and the last 2 he likely would have played if there was anything worth playing for. The season was lost no reason to risk further injury. 3. The beauty of this move is that it would allow the Bills to move players around. Gabe, Hopkins, and Diggs can all be on the field with Diggs operating out of the slot. So this move would give them a legitimate slot guy.
