  1. I said this elsewhere, but the only success I’m now interested in, is the success of a full recovery for Damar Hamlin. Currently, nothing else matters.
  2. There is now only one acceptable outcome for this to be a ‘successful’ season, and that is for Damar to make a full recovery.
  3. Well, it's not as though we haven't already beaten KC at arrowhead, so there's one game we could definitely win. Should we get the Ravens at home, we would be favourites for that. The toughest part would be going back to Cincy, yet they would be doing that witha chip on their shoulder, and the Bungles might be a touch overconfident. All in all, I see no reason why it couldn't be done. This team has had plenty of adversity with moving games and weather, so having to play extra games on the road, will be no biggie, imho.
  4. That is so bad, and downright dangerous, it probably should be an ejection. Just because it can be called a 'reaction play', doesn't make it any less dangerous.
  5. The season doesn't end with a loss, for sure. I think, if nothing more than for the sake of saying there's continuous improvement, which is something of a McDermott mantra, we need to win, and go on to be the #1 seed. I believe it's been something of our 'secondary' objective, the first being to win the division.
  6. It's even more difficult if you spend your first two seasons on IR. If it wasn't for the fact that Daboll knew him, I doubt he's even on a roster now.
  7. Get home field advantage throughout, and I really don't care.
  8. The need for a better interior O-Line is becoming increasingly pressing, imho. Hard to say how much longer Morse will want to play. While I'm not uncomfortable with the notion of sliding Bates over to Center, it still means we need another Guard. We also need another good compliment to our WR corps. 'Good', as opposed to 'great' WRs can be found all over the draft these days, simply because of the way the college game has gone, and all of the camps etc. these kids can go to to learn about the position. If there's a G/C at the back end of the 1st where we will be picking, and a WR similarly rated, I'm all for taking the G/C, as I feel that you can find another WR easier than a good G/C, that isn't going to need half of his 1st contract to develop. Please note, I'm not talking about reaching for either position, and if there's a guy who is clearly higher rated at another position, I wouldn't hesitate to take them (QB excepted).
  9. I wouldn't see that happening, tbh. McDaniel is from the Shanahan school, which is why Tua is a good 'fit'. I simply don't see Lamar as ever being a 'timing' passer. Fins are very close to QB purgatory atm, mainly because their options are very limited. Garoppolo would be a 'fit', but he's almost as regularly crocked as Tua, although without the concussions. About the only guy I see as being available and a 'fit', is Mayfield, but I see him as sticking around in LA, for Staffords retirement.
  10. TBH, I'd prioritise O-Line, specifically a guard/center, over a WR. It's not that having another good WR isn't something I want, it's more that currently, you can find them all over the place. My preference would be for a larger bodied guy, with a big catch radius, as that gives us something different to what we have, but it isn't a prerequisite. We have a distinct need for a Guard/Center, as Morse isn't going to be playing for that much longer. I'm pretty comfortable with Bates at center, tbh, but if he slides across, we still need another guard. While this years 'class' at WR may not be as good as some recent ones, there will still be plenty of options to take a decent one, through the first 3 rounds at least. If, wherever we pick in the 1st round, it's a coice between a Guard/ Center, and a WR with the same 'value', I'm taking the Guard this year.
  11. Still not entirely confirmed, but this article does believe it's the ACDF repair. Which requires a 6-9 month recovery. https://www.si.com/nfl/bills/news/buffalo-bills-safety-micah-hyde-surgery-timetable-jordan-poyer-tredavious-white Hyde will probably be able to do just about anything short of contact, but worst case scenario, assuming a full recovery, is that he will be full go, sometime around TC for 2023. Tbh, if I'm the Bills, I'm not looking at any scenario where he has contact until TC, at the earliest. There's simply no need. The veteran that he is, he will be more than capable of doing all of the walk throughs etc. until such time as clearance comes, and it's probably not happening until we've had the mandatory OTAs etc. anyway. While he has been sorely missed, the timing of his surgery, looks to work out nicely, to have him back firing on all cylinders, for the start of next season.
  12. I see Hodgkins name coming up a lot in these types of threads. While I'm glad he's finally making a go of it with the Giants, he spent the vast majority of his time here on IR. I'm not sure anybody here thought he'd make it through most of a season, probably ever. Basham is probably a miss. More so imho, from being a 'tweener' than anything else, because I think that McFrazier has changed their outlook on the body types they want for their D Line generally, requiring guys with more size and length. I'd also say that Basham, as a tweener, is being somewhat hung out to dry, depending on what McFrazier want from week to week, depending on injuries.
  13. Some of it is the very real rivalry between Argentina and Brazil, in respect of football. Essentially, the Argentinians are wanting to call one of their own 'the best ever'. There is also the 'recency' bias, where a lot of fans never got to see Pele at his best, yet Maradona and Messi highlights are all over the place. The era that Pele played in, was a whole lot harder than it is now, in respect of challenges. In 1966, Pele was quite literally kicked out of the World Cup, by the ferocity of the fouls he had against him. That was the 'plan' to stop him, because they couldn't come up with any other way. Pele won his first World Cup in 1958. He scored 2 goals in the final, one of which is an audacious chip over a defender, followed by a volley into the net. He was 17 years old. With his combination of pace, power, being able to play the ball equally well with either left or right foot, Pele made just about everything look easy. He was also a terrific header of the ball. Perhaps though, one thing that really made him stand out, was his vision. He seemed to see what was happening way ahead of anyone else. In a wonderful Brazilian side that won the World Cup in 1970 in Mexico, he still stood out. Those are probably highlights that are still accessible, as all of the games were televised. There's an absolutely thunderous free kick, that the goalkeeper never even sniffs. There's an attempt from the half-way line, that just goes wide. You see that sort of thing from time to time these days, but nobody ever even thought of doing it until Pele tried it. There's an utterly ridiculous dummy of a goalkeeper, that leaves him for dead, but Pele is just unable to squeeze the ball in, from a tight angle, which was another move that nobody else would have even thought of. Some great headed goals, not least the first one of the final itself. Somewhat fittingly, it's Pele who plays the final pass for the last goal of the final, which he casually strokes into the path of his captain, who blasts the ball into the back of the net. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63848421 Much of what I talked about is contained within clips in the article. While the pictures of the clips are black and white, all the stuff from 1970, are actually colour videos. I was privileged to watch those games live (on TV), and they left an indelible impression, that has never left me. While I've been impressed with things that the likes of Maradona and Messi have done, I've never been in awe, like I was when watching Pele. The only other player who has given me that same sense, was George Best, and ironically, Pele was once asked 'what's it like to be the best footballer in the world?', to which he replied 'I don't know, you had better ask George Best'.
  14. Hackett never struck me as having the right sort of personality to be a Head Coach. I can see him being a Coordinator, which he obviously has been, and not without some success, but I would never have thought him to be HC material.
  15. Could have been another concussion. One thing I noticed, was Tua seemed to have to make an extra effort to remove his helmet, as they exited for the half. I believe that that indicates he’s got a modified helmet, with extra padding in it.
  16. Looks like a defensive gameplan the Bills could use going forward. 😁 Just about all of those throws were timing reads, that the Packers jumped. Somewhere along the lines, Tua needs to actually not throw the football on some of that stuff.
  17. Agree, although if not for the little foot grab, Dillon would have been in.
  18. Prescott has just thrown one of the worst interceptions I've ever seen. A pick 6 as well.
  19. Once again, a tough win, as much due to conditions as anything. Josh still not taking as many easy options as he should, a couple of which were easy yards. He was still plenty good enough though, and there were a couple of times he was let down by his receivers. Some good run blocking, and some good running from both Singletary and Cook. Apart from the blown coverage for the TD, the D played very solid, and the gameplan was obviously pretty good once adjustments were made. Fields was pretty inconsequential as a runner, and that was no mean feat. AFCE Champions again! Still the #1 seed to play for. Life is good! Merry Christmas everybody!
  20. If he’s not betting on the NFL, then why should it matter? Does that mean any team that plays in Vegas isn’t allowed to throw some loose change into a slot machine? Is buying a lottery ticket allowed? Is this just in season?
  21. Tbh, I think it's the kind of film study that Allen will do with Dorsey. Warner, from what I can see, doesn't want Allen to stop being Allen, he just wants him to take more of the easier throws that are available, and make life a little easier for himself, and everyone else. Over time, I'm sure Allen will gradually do that, as it's not risk averse, it's simply taking what the opposing D is giving him - and he knows he should be doing that better at times. I consider it to be constructive criticism, and to be fair to Warner, he was pretty much in awe of Allen on the Sunday Morning show.
  22. Tbh, I think it’s more of a function of how good Allen can be under center, without having to run. Jackson, Hurts and Fields, simply aren’t the same quality of all around passer that Allen is, and many would want to see a more effective running game that didn’t involve him so much.
  23. Without re-watching the game, there were plenty of holds that could have been called against the Phins secondary. Diggs was getting held a lot. This was all happening clearly after the 5 yards of the scrimmage line was passed. In fairness, I didn't pay the same attention to what the Bills secondary was up to, so that may have been similar for both teams, but I got the feeling, that as the game gets on the line, it was one of those situations where the zebras clenched, and tightened up on that stuff so as not to get called out on it. The biggest problem for the 'Phins at that stage, was that mostly, the Bills had the football, so were going to be the team that got those calls. The McKenzie one was egregious, because he was clearly held early on in his route, and then the defender was all over him before the football actually arrived. There will alsmost certainly be stills somewhere, where the defender is making contact with McKenie, and the football isn't even in the frame.
