  1. With everything that's going on this weekend, getting a tight win against our top divisional rival, looks a whole lot better, with other teams struggling to get it done against lesser teams.
  2. This is true. I don't want to put any sort of bad juju on him, but it looked to me as though his arm was back to firing on all cylinders - especially later on in the game.
  3. A couple of weeks ago, the D was 'lights out'. This week, the lights were on, but nobody was home. STs made a pig's ear of a number of things, giving us crap field position, a lot. Injuries to the O-Line, didn't help, and were made worse when Morse had to go off. We dropped (again), a number of very catchable footballs, that would have given us good extra downs and distance. It was probably complimentary football at its worst, until the 4th quarter. What I mean by that, is that for much of the first 3 quarters, whenever one unit made a play of two, it was followed up by the next one messing up. Undoubtedly the 'Phins came to play, and played hard, but one of the things that stands out to me generally, is that we do a better job of beating ourselves, than other teams often do.
  4. The Bills have had problems against Shanahan style running games, for ages. Thankfully, not too many teams seem to be able to recreate them. Unfortunately, it appears McDaniels might be able to. The Bills were once again their own worst enemy. Way too many fundamental mistakes being made, from a lack of tackling on D, to STs miss cues - roughing the kicker an obvious one, and then poor decisions about fielding kicks/punts. The latter I was unpleasantly surprised by, as Hines I thought, up until this week, had made pretty much the right decision since he's been back there. I think our 1st choice O-Line is OK to decent, when fully fit. When they aren't, all bets are off. Upgrades are essential there in the off season. Tbh, I'm less down on the coaches, than many On Offense, Hines and Morris both scored their first ever TDs for the Bills - not exactly a sign that the Offense is too predictable. There were too many drops (again), and they were often on balls with less heat on them, than Allen used as the game went on. The extra banged up version of the O-Line, (after Morse went out), only got their sh1t together when the snow came(just in time). The tackling on the D, was horrendous. Epenesa on the first big Mostert run, was trying to knock the football out, rather than tackling him. First man in, makes the tackle. Second man in, is the guy who tries to affect the football. Something that needs to be stressed, is that you stop the guy first, at the expense of anything else, like going for the 'big hit', or going after the football. Way too many arm tackle efforts, that failed miserably. Execution, was hopeless, but it wasn't that guys were in the wrong places loads, it was that they didn't execute their techniques properly. That part, is on the coaches, but it should be on the coaches of the individual groups, rather than the Co-ordinator. That was a tough win, but it need not have been, if we hadn't kept giving ourselves additional challenges. While we might not be in a position to address roster weaknesses atm, there is a lot that can be put right, with a good week of practise. As last night showed, with Josh at the helm, we aren't out of any game, but we can certainly do a lot more to make his life earlier. When all is said and done, that was a hugely important win, and credit to the team for really showing up late on, to get it done - before Josh's heroics, the D made a couple of good stops. It comes up with the most bizarre ratings imaginable. I prefer the 'old school' QB Passer rating, not least because it has clarity.
  5. When he gets going, he's pretty fast. Iirc, he's actually had the 'top speed' of any player on the odd weekend (probably going back a season or two). Don't believe for a moment the combine 40 time - there is no way he isn't a lot quicker than that when it matters. 😀
  6. There's still plenty of time in the game. If our guys actually catch a few footballs, this is still a winnable game. We will need someone to make a couple of tackles.
  7. First one I can forgive - it's cold and it had to be made just with his hands. Second one was awful, as he also had his body behind it.
  8. Time for the D to get an absolute reaming at the half, due to their inept tackling.
  9. Epenesa needs to remember that the first guy's job is to tackle. It's the second guy in who goes after the football fcol.
  10. Josh seems to take time to get the feel for the weather. Same last week early, with missed throws beingaffected by conditions.
  11. Good stop in the end. Need to sort out stopping the run. A FG after that lot, is a good result tbh.
  12. Finding them isn’t the problem. Getting them to hang on to the football could be. 😉
  13. To an extent, I think there’s some mitigation for a small percentage of our drops, and that is simply the velocity that Allen can impart to the football. Doesn't mean our receivers shouldn’t do better, but on day like yesterday, the extra on the football, likely makes it proportionately more difficult to reel in.
  14. As Elam is pretty focused on improving, a 'disciplinary' reason seems a stretch, unless it's for being stupidly late for some reason. Game plan decision would be more likely, and if he's nursing a knock (ankle), then leaving him out, could be a plus point on the balance scales. As someone else has pointed out, he's not been on the injury report, so he's pretty much got to count as a 'healthy scratch'. Very likely he could have played if needed/necessary, but it was probably deemed to be better for him long term, if he didn't have to. Let's not forget also, we are getting to the 'rookie wall' period, and getting him the extra rest - (especially with the next game not for 10 days) may well play into countering that as well. It might also be that they are looking to have him as fully fit as possible, for when he opposition has more speed on the field.
  15. While it might seem a bit ghoulish, I wish the game was being shown in the :UK, so I could see just how truly bad other teams QB play can get. 🙂
  16. I think it did in respect of changing the Lions mindset. When it got to 4th and 1, and they were in FG range, they were comfortable about taking it. If they failed to get the yard, it was game over, but the FG still kept them in it. If they needed 4 points, then they would have definitely gone for it, basically, with no other option, and they had mostly been successful through the game, when they did. They also still had at least one timeout to use, iirc, so they could have run the football if they had got close. The other aspect of taking the FG, was giving us time on the clock, which we probably wouldn't have got otherwise. The D would have had to stop them.
  17. Singletary clearly is the better back atm. It's not even close. Cook needs more experience, and hopefully will continue to improve. Singletary is consistent. Cook isn't. We are coming to the business end of the season, and you need consistency.
  18. For anyone who doesn't think that was a special throw and catch, watch McDermott in the Locker Room, giving Allen and Diggs, game balls pretty much for that one play. There isn't anyone playing in the NFL today, who would have made that throw. Without the velocity that Allen can put on the football, that simply doesn't get there in time. 45 to 50 yards, and it still hit Diggs hard. I'm with Beast on this one, I think only Elway and Favre had enough juice to make it, out of the QBs I've been able to watch, and tbh, I think the only one of them who would have gone for it, was Favre.
  19. Allen, Diggs, Bass - all clutch when needed to be. The Allen to Diggs throw at the end is probably the throw of the week - and it's just one game in - it was that good. Oliver and Jones, also Milano again. Honourable mentions to McKenzie, Motor on Offense, and AJ Klein on Defense, who did a sterling job on the back of a whole week back in the system.
