Resign, Dareus and Hughes. Both guys should be able to fortify the D-line for the foreseeable future. I would resign Spikes if his price was reasonable too. With no number one pick the team should be very aggressive in free agency. With the cap going up a bit, turnover cap space, and Fitz money coming off the cap the team should be able to go out there and address needs at corner and guard while resigning Dareus and Hughes long term.

IF EJ is a bust and the only really good pieces that come out of that draft are Kiko and Woods it will be looked at as a mediocre draft. But Duke Williams, Gragg, and Goodwin could all turn their fortunes around too.

The jury is still out on Davis. He has been much better than he should be given where he was drafted and how he bounced around in the league. But I think he could just be another average to below average QB. He has struggled at times but being young that's to be expected. Overall I think that Davis has shown promise but the sample size is way too small. Let him play out the season and see how he does before he even gets the starting job.

People always forget that the defense was one of the best in the league during the years Flutie was here. Also Flutie is 5 foot 10 not really that short compared to a regular person.
-
Its too big a part of his story for them not to spend significant time on it. Flutie's best NFL years came leading the Bills to two playoff seasons. Alos his departure from Buffalo in favor of the prototypical QB Rob Johnson is too good of a story. Overall if you don't talk about Flutie's Buffalo years than you aren't doing the doc right.

The defense is much more disciplined than Pettin's. Its less aggressive and leans more on the defensive line than last years defense. The defense this year has been much more consistent than last year.

NFL Rewind Week 6 - Kyle Orton Unforced Error Review
billsfan89 replied to Bocephuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The fumble, INT, and that one play where he got sacked straight up the middle were all on Orton (He should have thrown the ball away instead of taking a sack). The rest of the errors were misthrows that I think happens in the midst of the game. -
They need to find a way to get Urbik out there at guard. You have limited potential upgrades on your roster right now. And Urbik is one of the upgrades you possibly could get. I would also deactivate Spiller and use Bryce Brown. Brown and Urbik over Pears and Spiller could be two moves that help the offense. Defensively getting the team coached up better and Aaron Williams back from injury could help the secondary bounce back. But offensively you need to look at Urbik at guard and get Spiller out of there in favor of Brown.

100% in Redzone with Orton (4-4)
billsfan89 replied to HardyBoy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Offense put the team behind the 8 ball in the first half with all the turnovers (The defense was playing so well, had the offense showed up in the first half the team could have been up at half time). The defense fell apart late in the game in particular down 8 with 7 minutes left letting up the clinching insurance TD for the Pats*. The offense did play much better in the second half. Had it not been for that horrible Woods call they probably would have put together 3 scoring drives. It was a total team loss. You can't have half your team show up one half and then not the other half. To beat an experienced team you are going to need to play a great game 60 minutes on all 3 facets of the ball. -
No ref is ever going to be perfect week in and week out. And no matter what you are always going to find some bad calls in games. The issue I have with the NFL is the overall lack of quality control. It seems like the refs don't have any real quality control when it comes to bad calls. Even the NBA has started to release their Referee point of emphasis memos and responded quickly and clearly to bad calls the day after (Something I think that would have not happened under David Stern). The NFL needs to be more transparent about their referee operations. Call out bad calls and make sure that institutions are in place to insure the best possible officiating of games.

Run D held up, Hogan and Woods looked real nice, Orton gave you the production that you expected out of him. and Chandler came alive. Hughes looked real good too. Also this team hung in there. Defense held the team together in the 1st half and the offense kept the team in there during the second half. Keep in mind it was a 8 point game with 7 minutes left and there was a 3rd and 16 early in that drive. Despite a negative 3 turnover margin it was a 6 point game at the half. Had they gotten the ball back at that moment they would have had most likely decent field position with 5ish minutes left on the clock down 8 (And I think we had all of our timeouts too). The defense just gave out in the second half and in particular on that last drive the Pats* scored on. The game was much more competitive that it really should have been. 1 score game with 7 minutes left? Its should have been well out of reach by then.

Mike & Aaron Williams not active today vs. Patriots
billsfan89 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No Easley out there either. Weird to only go with 4 WR's. I suspect that they will go a lot of 3 wide and 2 TE sets. Spiller might get some burn at WR esp if there is an injury. -

billsfan89 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They should expand the rosters to 58 and have 53 suit up (5 inactive spots for injured players). NFL Rosters are way too small. It puts a lot of pressure on teammates to play hurt knowing they don't have a lot of depth. -
Which is odd since the team has usually been good in recent years with signing guards off the scrap heap. They went after Williams pretty aggressive and the money wasn't insignificant. Doesn't Williams have some guaranteed next year? That would really be a bad signing if he has an impact on the cap next year.

Jets are at home so there is no game opposite them. If the Jets were away we might have gotten another game but sadly the Jets are playing and I get to watch them and only them play the Broncos who should beat them fairly easily (Although its the NFL so goofy things could happen).
-
Living in New Jersey I get to watch the Jets get killed by the Broncos instead of the Bills vs. Pats*. Even worse is that I have no one in fantasy involved in that Jets game either (Ronnie Hillman is on my bench but who cares). Another week of going to the local watering hole to watch the game.

Tomorrow we will know if.....
billsfan89 replied to billsfan_34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We can win tomorrow and all it will mean is the team is 1 win closer at 4-2. I will only believe the Bills are in the playoffs when I see that little x next to their name in the standings indicating that they have clinched a spot. Until then its just one week at a time. -
NFL believes it’s 12-24 months away from a return to L.A.

Raiders look to be a prime target to move to anywhere but Oakland. Throw in San Diego too as a secondary canidate, and of course Jacksonville if you are going out of state. Its nice to view these threads and not weight Buffalo's chances of being the relocated team. -
Hitting on All Cylinders But 2 !!
billsfan89 replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The defense is playing well and the QB has only spent 5 weeks on the roster so that probably makes out game plans really conservative. Orton probably knows a limited amount of the play book so they are probably easing him into the more subtle parts of the offense. Also when the defense is playing well it makes you run the ball and play to limit mistakes. I think as the year goes on Orton will have the offense open up more (The defense is bound to have a bad game here or there which might require it). -
I was against the Watkins trade, not because I don't think Sammy isn't a talent (I think he could be a top 5 WR in the NFL and at worst if he stays healthy I think he is a multi time pro-bowl type talent) but because I think it was a horrible value to move up 5 spots and because we did have Stevie on the roster. Trading away pick number 9, next years number 1, and Stevie for Sammy and a 4th next year from the 49ers just seemed like too steep a price to pay. We could have drafted a good player at 9 and still had Stevie at WR. I think we could have honestly traded down picked up an extra second and taken Kelvin Benjamin and kept Stevie as a slot reciever (But no gaurantee that a trade down would have been there). Throw in having next years number 1 in tact and I think its a much better move to have not made the trade. I guess my point was the management of picks and resources seems like the team got ripped off. But if you look back at this deal 2-4 years from now and the Bills got the best player in the deal then its a success.

AP smoked "a little" weed before his court appearance

Studies show its not a gateway drug. Pot users don't use harder drugs at a higher rate than alcohol users. http://www.collective-evolution.com/2014/04/12/study-the-gateway-drug-is-alcohol-not-marijuana/ -
Pats* could be missing starting C
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bradham should be back. Kyle I think will be out. Freddie is 50/50 but I think that might give Dixon and Brown a chance to play. I think Bradham will be key to have back this week (Kyle would be too but its better to not rush him back too soon as he is key for the long haul). -

That's another thing science has done enough studies on the topic to prove that its actually safer than alcohol. You can't overdoes on it, its impact on the body while not positive is less negative, and no hangovers.
