  1. As bad as Tyrod was on Sunday I think most QB's would be struggling with the talent around him. You top WR and Tight end are hurt and both units had little depth to start the season. Your 2nd round pick WR is struggling and there just isn't a lot of skill position talent outside of Shady. The O-line isn't as bad as a lot of people complain but it isn't an elite unit esp in pass protection. Very few QB's even good QB's would thrive with the talent Tyrod has around him. To me Tyrod's play is much more an indictment of the teams lack of depth at the skill positions.
  2. There are plenty of decent free agent running backs out there. Hell couldn't they claim Jonathan Williams off of Denver's PS if they wanted to? They should make a play for Barnidge to help out at tight end and then look for help at WR either via trade (maybe if a decent player is available for a mid round or late pick) or via free agency. Running back depth seems like an easier fix.
  3. I do think that the brilliance of Tommy Wiseau's avant garde master piece should be critical to any NFL teams success.
  4. Dareus and Glenn are pretty much untradeable this season. Teams don't like to take on injured players let alone injured players on big contracts. I think you could trade Dareus during the off-season if you so choose since he still plays at an effective level when out there and he has a high ceiling. Glenn might be tradeable too but not until the off-season when the team that possibly trades for him can use the off-season to get him on their regime and onto their system.
  5. I like this move, it motivates Dareus without putting him on the spot completely (He has an excuse with the injury.) I think McD plays whoever is playing the best. Let Dareus know that he needs to produce in order to get the snaps. It also lets Thornton know that if he produces he gets the snaps. I expect Dareus to be a backup snaps count wise in Cincy but if he can't get it in gear after a bye week and back to back weeks of limited snaps then I think Dareus isn't longed for this team.
  6. Trust the process.
  7. He wasn't on a team last year nor was he on a roster at any point this year. His last season in 2015 wasn't very impressive. Seems like he just retired outright instead of taking a lower end deal to continue his career.
  8. I don't think the Bills want to give up a valuable pick to take on a receiver with a high salary. I think the coaching staff and front office value flexibility in their future. Less premium picks and less cap space for a player who might not fit the system or have chemistry with the QB is a bit of a risk. I think if a quality vet receiver on a more modest deal could be had for a 4th or 5th round pick or less then I think you could actually see them make a move.
  9. Not a bad move, makes sense since the player knows the offense. I still wouldn't be shocked if they make a trade for a receiver if a talented one could be had at a good price. But at least they get another body in there.
  10. And even if Matthews was healthy you could still use an upgrade at the receiver position. It's not like you are waiting on Julio Jones to come back from injury, Matthews is a nice player but he isn't going to completely jump start the passing game on his own. I think you have to see what your options are via trade.
  11. I hope that they do explore options on a trade for a veteran receiver. They don't need to go crazy trading a high round pick for a high impact player, but I think it sends a good message and it helps the team out if they bring in a decent vet receiver for a mid to late round pick. I think the Giants are a logical trade partner. They have a lot of talent at the receiver position and are 0-4. Maybe they are willing to part with Brandon Marshall for a 4th or 5th round pick. That's the kind of trade I would be targeting.
  12. I would see if the Giants would give up Brandon Marshall for a late round pick. Marshall isn't a world beater anymore but he is still a highly effective player who would be a upgrade over what the team currently has. Maybe a 5th or 6th round pick could get him away from the 0-4 Giants.
  13. It wouldn't surprise me to see if they were feeling out the market for him. Young player coming off a quiet rookie year from a previous regime is someone you might want to dump while you can still get something for him. But I think that given the age of the front seven in general and the fact that Washington has been pretty decent and I would rather try to see what he can become over having a 5th round pick. The team needs to hold onto their young front 7 players.
  14. The entire secondary has been money.
  15. No idea why J-Will is not on the roster. I get the special teams angle but he filled the role of primary backup to Shady very well.
  16. You can't get too crazy, season is only 25% in the books. Also the Jordan Matthews and possibly EJ Gaines injuries are also a cause for concern, both key players. But right now 3-1 having won 2 games that the Bills weren't supposed to win (One being on the road) is cause for some optimism. Cincy on the road is a big test as I think they are better than their record indicates and any game on the road ain't easy. If the Bills can beat Cincy and go to 4-1 with a bye week to get some injured players up and rested then I think this team has a chance to be for real. Let's see how this team responds to getting some of their own hype.
  17. He has been ugly this season. Bills made the right move to not overpay for him, granted I thought he was a pretty solid corner in his time here but far too up and down to make him the 8th highest paid corner in the league when realistically he played somewhere in the range of the 22nd to 32nd best corner in the league in his time here. Tre has been a stud far better than anyone could project so the Bills not only went with the cheaper option but they went with the better option.
  18. I think the conservative play calling is a function of the faith placed in the defense and the kicker kicking a dome. McD knew that if he gained any sort of positive yards on those runs that he was wiling to kick that 55+ yarder. Although I would have went for a pass on first down because Atlanta knew a run was coming and they stunted the run and the Bills offense was basically there to kill the clock. Expect "Conservative" play calling late in close games, a very good defense means you can afford to play not to lose games since you can count on your defense more often than not to bail you out. Bottom line you offense is more likely to lose you games than your defense. So expect your playcalling to reflect that.
  19. It's fair to speculate that the few calls that went the Bills way and the Injuries to Sanu and Jones helped the Bills squeak out a win. But I can't help but think that the win is no matter what a positive. The Bills would have in the past found ways to win this game. Instead the Bills won can't be anything but a positive.
  20. I don't think they need to make a huge move but they need to bring in a credible vet if Matthews is out long term. Maybe a Brandon Marshall type.
  21. That's unfortunate, I can see a trade happening if a WR becomes available from an 0-4 team. Maybe if the Giants lose today they take a 5th rounder for Brandon Marshall?
  22. Other than being a "disciplinarian" I don't think there are many similarities. McD is looking like a modern styled disciplinarian coach. Modern players don't respond to old school drill sergeant style coaches anymore. But players coaches have their own pitfalls as we just saw with Rex. McD demands accountability and is building a culture. But he doesn't do so in a heavy handed manner. I think his style and command of the team works well esp for a team coming off of 2 years of Rex. 60 yarder in the meadowlands is not a sure thing, can't fault him on that call. Your defense is playing good give them a shot to give you the ball back with good field position.
  23. Didn't really pay much attention to Dareus out there. Rush defense got gashed at times but was stout a lot of times too. Overall I think that for the long term health of the defense Dareus better turn things around.
  24. It could have been called either way in all honesty. I always prefer to let the players and not the refs decide it. I also think the argument that the ball was uncatchable holds water (Although had the receiver had a clean release maybe the receiver would have had a play on the ball.
  25. Exactly, I think as a fan you have to hope that Dareus gets it in gear and plays like he did in 2014 when he was one of the most dominant interior d-linemen in the league. Dareus has the talent to anchor the middle of the defense for the next 3-5 years at a dominating level. For a guy you are committed to for this season and next season you want to get that high level of production out of him. The front 7 only has 1 other young player in it (Shaq) so you kind of want your 27 year old defensive tackle to be a dominant player to help anchor the defense for the future. As for Glenn I think it is a case of health, he seems to be well liked and buying into what the new staff is trying to implement. It's just getting him on the field and healthy. I say be extra cautious with his injury. Sit him out until after the bye week. Maybe an additional 3 weeks off gets him healthy. Now do I think Dareus will get it in gear? I am not sure. The rest of the veteran players seem to buy in and those who weren't were shipped out. Dareus seems to be the only one to be on the outside of that. So hopefully being that isolated in terms of attitude helps him buy into what the coach is doing. It might not happen and the team might just be stuck with an above average player production wise who is a bit of a malcontent.
