Ashley Madison leak -- the fallout begins
billsfan89 replied to truth on hold's topic in Off the Wall Archives
That's fair but I think that the reason men aren't honest is because monogamy is considered the societal norms or because they are so afraid of losing their girl that they will bury those feelings. It's hard to go against it in conventional terms. I think that there really needs to be an honesty among our culture. -
Nick O'Leary looks like odd man out at TE

Maybe as a compromise, have "protected" practice squad players be payed close to the league minimum. I am sure if pay is the sticking point they could work something out. I also like the idea of being able to designate two players straight to the practice squad without exposing them to waivers. -
Ashley Madison leak -- the fallout begins

I would argue that very few men can do that. If that was the case then 95% of marriages shouldn't happen. Most men can't contain themselves and be happy. Instead they have to resort to taking care of themselves to thoughts of other women or be miserable in order to stay faithful. I also don't think women want to confine a man to misery. Just as a person do you want to be someone who is dealt with rather than enjoyed? We make such a big deal about sex and monogamy not because it's the best system (The divorce rate of swingers is way lower and their marriage sanctification rate is much higher would prove otherwise) but rather because socially we have defined it as right. But what is right about it? Marriage and emotional monogamy are a great institution for raising a family in. But why can't we have an honest conversation about the conventions of sexual monogamy not being the best set up for all parties involved. -
Ashley Madison leak -- the fallout begins

No man is monogamous, it's about time men stopped lying. Men can behave monogamously (Obviously not everyone is cheating on their spouse), but almost every man gratifies themselves to images and thoughts of other women. Which means they are suppressing a natural drive. Men suppress that drive through many means or they cave and have an affair. But to deny that drive is silly and dishonest. Monogamy works for some but for a lot of people its just not a natural state of existence. -
Nick O'Leary looks like odd man out at TE
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
6th round picks are prime practice squad candidates. O'Leary needs time to figure out the NFL game, a year on the practice squad could do him good and then he can come into camp next year pushing for a spot. Good sign that the talent already on the roster made it hard for an incoming 6th round pick to get a spot. -
Has your Opinion of the Offensive Line changed?

EJ Manuel: "I love it here and want to stay here"
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would honestly rather have EJ than Cassell as a backup. Then again I think having a veteran to lean on in Cassell is good for the roster, so having him as a third string QB is also a good idea. -
Going into the Off-season O-line, QB, and Skill positions were huge concerns. Pretty much anything offense needed an upgrade. Incognito was the first major move made to upgrade the O-Line. But after that move the only other move made was drafting Miller in the third round. Of course Roman and a new set of offensive coaches are looked at as an upgrade over what was here last season. So a modest amount of new talent being brought in along with a new coaching staff to a unit that was horrendous last year. Another source of possible improvement is Kujo or Henderson emerging. Henderson won a starting job but struggled maybe he learns and improves. Kujo had a disastrous rookie year, but he was a high draft pick and seemed to be working hard over the off-season. With two pre-season games down and a bunch of training camp in the books. Has your opinion of what the O-line shifted or will it continue to be an issue? I think the O-line will be a struggle against better D-lines but it will be much better than it was last year. Incognito will give the team capable guard play, Miller seems like he will too, Glenn and Wood had down years last year I suspect they will be better. At RT I think there could be an improvement as well. Throw in the better coaching and I think there will be a great deal of improvement. What's everyone's take on the O-line so far? Seems like a lot of the teams success will hinge on that unit.

Bills #1 Overhyped Team For 2015? Nick Kostos Thinks So
billsfan89 replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's a fair opinion to have. Depending on your perception of how people are rating the team. I think there are legit concerns along the offensive line, one major one at QB, and health concerns with Harvin and now the backfield. -
Sounds like this deal will work it's self out over the next two weeks. Sounds like Dareus wants an McCoy type deal that Tampa handed out. Sounds like the Bills want to play around that number but Dareus wants a little more. Most likely they will split the difference and iron out a deal. The player is too important and NFL players like to take the guaranteed money and run.

Millennials don't like Trumps style. An arrogant egomanic who runs around telling people how rich he is (Seriously real rich people don't go around shouting it, does Warren Buffet or Bill Gate do this) while wearing a God awful hairpiece and having tacky taste isn't appealing to young people. I will agree with you that Trump will have an appeal to some as a protest vote and the Republican base who support his immigration and some populist stances. But I think when you look at his actual platform and policy prescriptions (what little there is) the general electorate won't be buying in. I see Bernie Sanders as a bigger contender coming from the base of his party as he has a much more fleshed out platform people can actually stand or be against the merits of. Where as Trump is just marketing a brand and in a weak field coming in as an outsider is working.

It was actually a 6 year 96 million dollar deal. The last two years of Daltons contract are a cap hit of 16.2 and 17.7 million. But they are fully non guaranteed no dead money. His 2018 cap hit is 16.3 million but the dead money is only 2.4 million making it very tenable to cut him after the 2017 season. So the last 3 years 53 million is easy to get out of. In 2017 his cap number is 15.7 million with 4.8 million in dead money, that's not a terrible amount of money to eat either. It's only his 2015 and 2016 cap numbers that have huge hits that are untenable. Dalton's contracts not the worst one out there. But the moderate overpay of Dalton is a reflection of how QB starved the league is. Even a average QB is going to get paid well.

If salary wasn't a factor I would take Dalton. Dalton at this point is a much better QB than those 3 are at this point. For a team to win now I would take Dalton hands down. However if I am going to be paying Andy Dalton cap hits of 9.6 million 2015, 13.1 million 2016, 15.7 million 2017, and 16.3 million 2018 with significant dead money if cut from 2015 to 2017 along with some dead money in 2018. I would rather take my chances on picking up 2 of those players making less than half of what Dalton is making with no significant salary tying the team up in the future. Bottom line Dalton is better but I am not going to want Dalton if I am going to have to pay him a fairly big contract number the next few seasons, causing me to divert roster resources to handle that cap hit.

Anytime a rock star or musician dies at a young age, everyone always says "X person was on their way to changing music or that genre of music" (Usually all the members of the 27 club are memorialized that way). Anytime I hear that I always think that people would have said the same thing about Axel Rose if he died in the late 80's or early 90's post Appetite for Destruction through the Use Your Illusion days. Just a weird thought I always have about GnR.

It's gotta be Roman who makes the QB call, right?
billsfan89 replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like most coaching decisions I think it's going to be a collaborative effort. Ultimately it will be Rex's call but I think he will no matter what listen to Roman as when it comes to the QB needed for the offense Rex will defer to his OC. Roman of course will sit down with his assistants and make the call and then tell Rex his recommendation, Rex will then confirm it. Even if Rex's confirmation is just a formality there still has to be that process just to establish a chain of command and give the perception of Rex as having involvement with the offense. -
Player for player trades rarely happen in the NFL. Hard to see the Bills getting anything more than a 7th round pick for anyone on the roster currently that would be expendable. Unless someone on the roster sees a good return that I just don't get then I can't see it a trade for a pick happening either.

Last night's Pro's and Con's
billsfan89 replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The backup O-line was a huge concern. Felt bad for EJ as he was just under fire every dropback. Overall I liked what I saw from that game. Hopefully with Duke Williams the coaching staff can work with him to better utilize him, then again he might just not be a fit for the defense. If the team had it's offensive weapons in the game the offenses performance would be concerning. -
John Oliver on scummy televangelists
billsfan89 replied to Jon in Pasadena's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Love John Oliver. with Jon Stewart off the air and Colbert doing a new type of show, Oliver might be the best political satirist on TV. -
The Bills are the latest example of building up the rest of the roster while having no QB. The Jets were somewhat successful with Rex when he went to the AFC title game in 2009 and 2010 but fell apart soon after that. The Seahawks have had much more success with that, but Russell Wilson has shown an ability to make plays down the stretch of games much like Big Ben. The Bengals with Dalton have a mid level QB with a very good surrounding cast and can't advance in the playoffs. The Raven's use to do that with Joe Flacco who was a limited QB but he got hot in the playoffs a few years ago and has since developed into a more complete QB. If you look at the results of figuring out the rest of the team and then the QB, it's not that bad. The Seahawks and Ravens won Superbowls and are consistently in the playoffs (Of course their QB's developed into better than what they were) and on the other end the Bengals have been consistently in the playoffs and the Jets had a nice little run. Overall I think the premise of if you have 2 you have none is true. But the Bills knew that coming into the season. No one is shocked that the team's QB situation is a bit of a mess.

Levitre About To Lose His Starting Spot?
billsfan89 replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think once people saw the price tag they were OK with Whaley not retaining him. The real criticism was they never brought in a proper replacement for him. Seems like they let him go and just never bothered to sign anyone at a critical position. -
EJ deserves time on the field with first team offense.
billsfan89 replied to gsurdam's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do think EJ should get some time with the first team. The blocking with him in this past game was terrible. Right now I think it will most likley be Tyrod in a Russell Wilson type role (Manage the game make some plays with his legs and down the stretch) while EJ and Cassell are the backups. I do think that the team needs a legit look at EJ to see if he is a better option than Cassell. -

A bit too over the top, but fun. Rex was really funny in it.
