  1. Would be a good replacement for Easley as a special teams ace.
  2. Hopefully the Bills can trade down from 10. Lots of needs on the roster and not enough draft picks to satisfy all those needs at the moment. Trading down and picking up an extra 2nd would be a great move if such a trade was available. Right now the best case scenario for the off-season would be for the Bills to sign another safety and a good nickle corner (Robey needs to be replaced), resign Zach Brown and then trade down in the draft to pick up an extra second round pick which would could then address CB, WR, and RT in the first two rounds with three picks and then draft another receiver or tight end in round 3. Hopefully they can accomplish addressing the secondary a bit more and resigning Zach Brown so that they don't have so many needs come the draft.
  3. I wouldn't mind bringing him back on a one year deal. At this point the Bills are desperate for safety help and the options are thinning by the minute. Byrd and Hyde would be a solid combo (Probably would need to find a depth option as well in there) and then they could focus on signing another corner.
  4. Not a bad deal at all, hopefully they can resign Zach Brown and really round out the front 7 nicely.
  5. No the Bills don't need to be one of the avenues that reintroduce him back to society, you don't have to try and erase him from history but you don't need to have him back in the fold. It reminds me of a story Louis CK told about when he was on the Chris Rock show circa 1995 or 1996 they were thinking about having OJ do a segment where Chris Rock was going to have OJ answer the one question everyone wanted to know and then Chris Rock would just ask him who he thought would win the MVP that year. OJ had apparently agreed to do it when the floated the idea over to him but Rock decided to pull back thinking that they didn't want to normalize OJ again.
  6. I love Stevie and on a minimum contract why not? But I wouldn't expect him to do much, but if it's a one year deal on the minimum I think you could do worse as competition for the bottom 2 WR spots. However if the team decides he is done and doesn't want him I am completely fine with it.
  7. I don't mind losing Woods and spending a high draft choice to replace him since Woods was not a top of the line player at best he was a low end #2 WR. But if the Bills are thinking about drafting a WR then they should spend money to fill in needs at other positions. If they want to draft a WR at 10 or in round 2 then they should spend money at RT and safety to take those needs off the board and fill out the roster overall. Problem is that the Bills in the past would never go out and improve other avenues of the roster instead tread water by trying to refill positions of recently departed good players.
  8. The Bills basically spread the guaranteed money across two seasons. This frees up 6 million in cap space for this off-season which is nice. But for Tyrod he basically gets a better shot at being here for 2 season which will further help him in his career while still getting his money. Smart move all around.
  9. I agree that LorAx might be a bit of good money after bad. His career year at age 33 is likely an anomaly and even if LorAx has a good year or two left he isn't going to be playing in the same system. So in addition to the fact that he might not produce the same way at his age you have to account that he is no longer in the same system that produced those results.
  10. A sub 2 million dollar contract for one year is the most I would give him. If the Bills could get him at 2 million or less I would honestly take it. It gives the team an option at safety that is far better than what the team has previously had in the past two seasons. He has been healthier the past two seasons but has had mixed levels of performance. Given the cost could be fairly cheap I wouldn't mind a return.
  11. The NFL isn't like the NBA, NHL, or MLB where you can sell off players for prospects and draft choices and short change your near future to rebuild for a long prosperous future. Very few players in the NFL command high draft picks. So it is not like the Bills can sell off a lot of players for a massive haul of draft picks. Even some of our "Most Tradable" players like Darby on cheap contracts will not get a very high return. So you either let a lot of talent go and not pursue free agents in the hopes of freeing up your cap in the next couple of years and getting a franchise QB with a high draft choice. I think when you have a solid QB in Tyrod, other talent on the roster, solid collection of draft choices, and some cap space to work with I think you are better trying to move upwards as opposed to scrapping the general direction of the team.
  12. If the Bills keep Tyrod (Which I want them to do) I don't want to see them spend a high draft choice on a QB. They have Jones who is a high upside developmental QB already a year in, they can spend a late pick on Kelly or some other developmental prospect. But it would be horribly wasteful to spend a pick in the first three rounds on a QB if Tyrod a proven effective starter is on the roster. Build the existing talent around the QB and stick to making the QB who has gone out there and proved it look better. Put Tyrod in a better position to have success with better talent around him or better talent on the defense. Allow Jones and a late round pick the chance to develop behind a proven starter.
  13. Seems like he is aiming for 15 million a year which I don't think he is worth. But as a in his prime and in a high demand position he might command something close to that maybe 12ish per year if not more. I don't think he is worth that at all if it comes down to something closer to 10 million per year then I think you would have to make some sort of offer.
  14. On a cheap 1 or 2 year deal yes, you could do worse for a 4th receiver, adds some punch and speed to the offense. Ted Ginn has done well for the Panthers offense 2 out of the last 3 seasons. If it costs anything significant to keep him then pass. But a sub 1 million dollar deal I Would seriously consider.
  15. I hope they keep Tyrod. I am fine with drafting a QB and keeping Tyrod. Tyrod is better than any QB the Bills can acquire this off-season via trade or free agency. Tyrod will be better this season than any QB the Bills can draft. Maybe draft Chad Kelly late and stick with developing him and Cardale while Tyrod holds down the position this year and next year (Probably would need to sign a decent back up if you weren't drafting a QB in rounds 1 or 2.) Right now I see no better option than Tyrod at QB for the Bills. Is Tyrod a franchise QB? No but his contract is affordable and not a long term commitment beyond next year and he is an above average QB who is good enough to win with a good supporting cast. The Bills can use the luxery of having a solid option at QB while picking their spot to have long term development at the QB position.
  16. I always feel like Whaley is better than he might actually be because he is so much better than the previous administration. Nix/Whaley was so much better than the Marv/Jauron era and the Donahue era (Although Wahley's recent struggles are dipping him into Donahue territory) that I think my standards are so low that someone doing a decent to below average job looks like sunshine and roses.
  17. I have been told by people much more knowledgeable about football than me (One guy actually works for NFL Films) that this was an really good hire. He comes from the Andy Reid Jim Johnson tree and was a very hot candidate last year but didn't get jobs because of the Panthers run to the Super Bowl made teams not want to wait on him. My gut tells me this was an OK hire, Panthers defense has been very up and down the past 6 years and while they have developed a lot of talent they also invested a lot of high draft choices into the defense. Hopefully this works out well and they keep Tyrod Taylor since I don't see an avenue to replace him.
  18. Take the best player available, tight end we could use depth but Clay is a more than capable tight end so finding a starter isn't a "Need" there but if Howard is the best player at that spot then you always draft talent. Personally I would like to find other positions but more weapons to the offense isn't bad.
  19. Probably a sign that the locker room has soured on him. I understand that the Cards have a crowded receiving core with Fitz, Brown, and now Nelson so him getting bench for poor performance isn't a sign of anything else than he is having a down year which could be due to multiple factors (Injury, QB regression, personal issues, new system, lack of reps, ect) but getting cut in a league where depth is a sought after luxury means Floyd either asked to be cut or that he lost the locker room. If I am the Bills I steer away, I get the temptation but the Bills situation is already very combustible and adding this possibly negative locker room influence at best will only make the situation worse or only have a marginal impact.
  20. I want to see how the team plays the last three weeks of the season. The team knows that they have a slim shot at the playoffs and that Rex's chances to keep his job are greatly improved by winning out. So their play over the next three games is indicative of how the locker room feels about Rex. If they play hard win out and look good I think you can make the case that after a 9-7 season the Bills have a compelling case to keep Rex. 8-8 or worse more than likely means Rex is gone although not a lock 100%.
  21. If Rex wins out and the team plays fairly well I think then you have to consider keeping Rex. Winning out even against 2 awful teams and another decent team missing their QB won't prove much unless the Bills craft out a playoff birth somehow. The only thing it would prove is that the team still plays hard for Rex and that he hasn't lost the locker room. The defensive performances are telling so even if the Bills win out at 9-7 you could still make a case for firing Rex. But at 9-7 winning out you have to at least consider keeping Rex for one more do or die year.
  22. It makes me think that either these Wonderlic tests that people get a hold of online are inaccurate in representing the true nature of the test or are some players just so focused on football that they lack common sense elsewhere or do some of these prospects just not take the test seriously? I find it hard to believe that any person of average intellectual capacity couldn't score a 30 on the test half assing it. But yet a lot of prospects do.
  23. They need to end the Thursday games, it seems cruel to have football players play with only 3 off days in-between. I know football is kind of brutal to begin with but players are barely getting by with the regular days of rest so making them have half the time off in between certain games is just awful. It's also needless since people barely watch these Thursday games compared to the Sunday or Monday games. It is too blatant a money grab .Not only has the NFL been dealing with bad PR with their poor handling of domestic violence incidents but now with these Thursday games it seems like the core NFL fan has been slightly turned away. The NFL needs to desperately get rid of Goodell, it would help them get a soft reset in the eyes of the fans. It might take a bit longer to get the casual NFL fan back and hooked but if you do some simple changes like getting rid of the Thursday games you can hook back in the part of your core audience that is starting to check out.
  24. Some team is going to take a chance to resurrect Jay Cutler but I hope it isn't the Bills. Cutler reminds me of when Carson Palmer got the boot in Oakland. Palmer had two great years with the Bengals then the injury bug got a hold of him and he was fairly mediocre. The Bengals then get a offer too good to refuse for Palmer and dump him in Oakland. He had a decent couple of years in Oakland but they decided to trade him when they wanted to go with a rookie in Carr. Palmer has been below average to great in his stint with the Cardinals. It hasn't been a complete turn around but he has been pretty good overall with them. I think Cutler has a chance in the right place in the right situation to be successful elsewhere but his reputation as a guy who isn't a good teammate might be a sign that he doesn't have the personality needed to play beyond his current level in the NFL. But it is clear that Cutler will get one last chance in the NFL since his position is highly in demand and short in supply. But I would rather have Tyrod for next season than Cutler based off of their current performance levels.
  25. Tyrod to me has been inconclusive which is frustrating as hell. If he was objectively terrible then the team could move on from him or gameplan around his weaknesses. If he was objectively good then the team could rebuild the offensive resources around him. But Taylor has been as much bad as he has been good. It doesn't help that the already thin skill positions have been depleted thanks to injuries to Woods, Watkins, Goodwin, and McCoy and others. It also doesn't help when judging a QB to have an effective running game and a defense that plays very well at times (Which leads to conservative game planning.) I do not think that the Bills have any better options than Tyrod. They won't be in a position to draft a QB high up and QB's worth a dam don't hit free agency (Tyrod is better than any QB that will be a free agent.) So I think giving Tyrod another year in 2017 is the teams best option. This is only Tyrod's second year as a starter under less than optimal conditions and he has preformed OK. Put more talent around him and see what happens.
