Bills and Patriots 1st half thread
billsfan89 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bend don't break by the Bills, offense needs to move the ball way better if they want to win. Defense will break if they don't get some help from the offense. The offense needs to take some chances, you can't play to not lose against the Pats*. -

If there is an incomplete pass I would call a timeout, the defense could use the time to catch their breath. -

Bills need a stop before the half here, the offense has been somewhat able to move the ball, the defense is going to have to help win the game by clamping down often. -

More than likely I think you do that on a call you think is 50/50. If you feel like you have a chance to win a challenge and your defense is gassed then throw it out. It makes a little more sense now when all turnovers and scoring plays are reviewed and you have a 2nd challenge. -

Bad challenge but John Fox use to use a challenge once in awhile to slow the game down for the defense, I think McD knew it was unlikely to get a grounding call but it allowed his defense a chance to catch their breath and get set for a 3rd and 6. That INT by Tyrod was a killer but the defense looks like it can get a stop and the offense is moving the ball. Bills have a chance from what I have seen so far. -
Dion Dawkins 2nd highest graded rookie OT
billsfan89 replied to SaviorPeterman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree I don't know why Miller was given up on so quickly. Miller or Groy should be starting at RG. But they definitely need to draft 2 O-linemen in the upcoming draft. They don't need to spend a high pick but somewhere in round 3 or 4 they need to draft an heir apparent for InCog and they might need to think about drafting a tackle to replace Glenn in the late rounds. -
Dion Dawkins 2nd highest graded rookie OT
billsfan89 replied to SaviorPeterman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The O-line is an older unit esp if Glenn is having more chronic injury issues. So hopefully Dawkins can be a good young piece for the unit. Maybe Groy and Dawkins could be the younger building blocks of the O-line, while they maybe draft replacements for Wood and InCog in the draft. I can't see Wood having more than 1-2 seasons left as a capable center, I can't see InCog having more than 1 more good season left. The line needs Dawkins to be a good player as they don't have much youth outside of him. -
Tyler Dunne: "Dennison Stays and Tyrod Goes"

Anyone who has watched the last 15 years of Bills QB play knows that it is easier to replace a bad OC than an at worst decent QB. -
Reggie Ragland's play for the chiefs
billsfan89 replied to berg1029's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In a league where Brandon Spikes in a limited role could look like a stud I am not surprised that Ragland is having some success. I think for the 3-4 Ragland will at least be an average player if not way above average. If he stays healthy he could be a very productive player in that system. The Bills decided to switch systems and had to get something for him before he loses value playing in the wrong system. -
Lorax should be a pass rusher. Simplify the game for him, dude is a freak athlete but his ball skills and instincts aren't what they need to be. Dude has changed positions so much and been a special teams player for so long that he doesn't have a full skillset. Put his hand in the dirt and let him loose on passing downs. Put Shaq at DT on 3rd and long, have Hughes and Lorax rush the edge. Lorax just doesn't fit the mold of a 4-3 LB. He is a pass rusher put him in a situation to get after the quarterback. Milano should take over for Lorax and then move Lorax into a situational position. Lorax can still help the defense but only if used properly.

Boldest move since benching Flutie
billsfan89 replied to row_33's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think they think the team needs a spark, making such a big move could be the shake up the team needs. LA won't have much tape on Peterman and it could throw the defensive gameplan. However, I think this is a complete panic move. They should have given it another week before being uber concerned about the season slipping away. Dareus was critical to the defense and the team hit a hard stretch in the schedule. Things eb and flow in a season. Tyrod is probably done here. I know that they will likely go back to Tyrod unless Peterman plays lights out but I think it just shows the lack of commitment to Tyrod. -
Gameday Thread Bills vs Saints 1st Half

The Bills offense needs to play to win. The defense is playing against a high caliber offense they won't be able to play conservative and win. 2nd and 15 and you need to something that sets up a 3rd and possible instead of a cheaply constructed run play. -

I feel like you can't understate the impact of a guy taking a double team even on 30% of snaps. The Saints so far and the Jets last week have had their way with the defensive line. They are moving the D-line off the line of scrimmage with consistency. Having a run stuffer in there would help the defense hold the line of scrimmage better. -

Huge turnover but the offense needs a sustained drive. Points would be huge but just a few first downs and a change of field possession would be a positive. -

I feel like there would be less wide open holes in the middle if Dareus was in there. -

This is starting to feel like a Jauron team, soft defense inept offense. It's early but you just get that sinking feeling. -

The Offense is going to have to score a lot and control the game, the defense has to make some redzone stops. But the Saints will be able to move the ball. Dareus as a space eater was way more important to this defense than a lot of people thought. -

Yeah but they got gashed by the Jets too, The Jets aren't a joke but they aren't a top-flight rushing attack or O-line either. -

This team is missing Dareus badly. Getting gashed way too much up the middle. -
Gallary started out as an RT his first 2 seasons in the league, he was actually pretty solid as a RT but when they moved him to LT in his third year in the league he struggled hard for 2 years. The kicked him back to Left Guard from 2007 to 2010 where he was a good player. So he wasn't a bust being able to play RT and LG at a good level but he just wasn't able to handle the LT position which was the position he was drafted so high to play. It's not your perception, due to colleges running the spread offense and running the ball a lot less O-line play in college isn't producing O-line players who have the fundamentals needed to play in the NFL. A lot of O-linemen in their early years go to camps during the off-season to work on their fundamentals. O-line in the draft has become a much riskier proposition than it has in the past. 10 years ago drafting a RT, Guard, or Center in the 2nd round was considered a safe pick with a 70% success rate. Now 1st round O-line bust at a higher rate.

Bob Costas says CTE will destroy the NFL
billsfan89 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Boxing took a big step back in the past 20 years or so because of corruption. Too many boxing federations mean no one knows who the top champions are. In MMA UFC had streamlined everything, there were other MMA promotions but everyone knew UFC was where the best of the best competed. Boxing, on the other hand, was too corrupt and too decentralized. -
Cordy Glenn injured AGAIN.
billsfan89 replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is unfortunate Glenn helped turn around the run game for several weeks. At least if he sits out the Saints game they will get him a lot of time to heal up and get healthy for the next game. This team needs Glenn, he is the anchor to the O-line. -
Supposedly Miller might not be a fit for the zone running scheme. The rest of the O-line seems to have picked it up but not Miller. I think they end up trading Miller for a later round pick, some team that runs a scheme more similar to the scheme that was run in 2015 and 2016. I can't see getting that much but at least a 6th or 7th at best a 5th.
