Best? Hard to argue it isn't Kyle William's by a long shot thus far (although Tre, Edumonds and Allen got a shot at it.) 5th round pick who got 6 probowls and an All Pro Team (and probably would have been 3 or more All pro had he not been stuck on a bad team.) Kyle was a consistent starter and fixture for the defense for 12 years. He was a late 1st round pick who in a year or two will be in that conversation. But for longevity and value I am going with Kyle thus far. As far as worst? I would go with Johnathan McCargo, McCargo was a late 1st round pick whom the team traded up for and was considered a massive reach while the team passed on Nick Mangold who went the very next pick and went on to be a top center in the league for the next decade (for a division rival.) It was a bad pick at the time and Mangold who was a player of need would have been the much better pick.

Mitch gave up 1 sack on 909 snaps and his pressure numbers last season were really good too. I think he is an elite pass blocker top 3 at his position the numbers and the eye test check out. I do think his run blocking is nothing special but far from a liability. I think center play is made up of a lot of very complex parts and in many of those avenues Mitch ranges from elite to solid. I don't know if I could name 5 centers who are better.

Trade proposal (Jags/Jets, not Bills)
billsfan89 replied to Dkollidas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That actually makes sense for both teams. That is contingent on the Jags an Jets negotiating with both players extensions which could easily fall apart. -
Morse is top 5 at his position in my opinion. He is one of the top 2 to 3 pass protecting centers in the league only giving up 1 sack on 909 snaps last season. He also is solid in run blocking and an excellent leader along the line making calls. I think as long as he stays healthy he will be here the next 3 to 4 seasons and at worst possibly restructure similar to Star.

I agree I don't see what is too impressive about the Titans. Even if Henry has another good season losing Conklin and not adding anything of significance to the team at the skill positions or on defense keeps them capped at the 8 to 10 win range. They have a good defense and a decent offense but their QB is average at best and their skill positions not that great either. Overall I don't see what is too impressive about them.

Bates and Long are pretty good interior Oline depth when both were called upon last season they did good.

GM Power Rankings -- Where is Beane?
billsfan89 replied to cage's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You could argue top 5, but I would say definitely top 10. I would easily put Billy B, Howie Rosman and KC's duo, and Colbert from Pittsburgh for sure ahead of him. All 4 regims have been very successful for a long time and have their teams consistently in a position for success. I would then say Loomis from NOLA and Schenider from Seattle are both better but arguable. Beane at worst is 7, I can't see putting Lynch, Atlanta's GM, or the Titans Gm ahead of Beane. -
Jamal Adams/Jets trade chatter starts back up
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Jets did sign the LT out of Seattle, they could snake around in round 2 and help their O-line at RT. -
Fred was an all heart player you loved, Fitz plays hard and that has an appeal. But Kyle Williams was my favorite back end drought player (might be my favorite drought player but I have a few others from the early drought years that compete) Kyle played hard, was super good on some bad teams, and just was a likable meatball. But TO that one year was actually a fond memory. He had a few big plays but was clearly past his prime (although still effective) but what made him really likable was that he seemed to respect the team and the city. For all the ***** TO gets (justifiably) he wasn't really a problem on the Bills and that is shocking because the team was bad (they did finish 6-10 and got off to a bad start) and there weren't too many other vets or good locker room guys on the team (Some but not a lot.) It was the perfect situation for him to cause at least some controversy here and he didn't really rattle the cage much if at all from what I remember.

His first year in Chicago was good in 2018.

Is Darrynton Evans Beane’s Draft Crush?
billsfan89 replied to Johnny Hammersticks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wouldn't hate a RB in round 3 but would strongly prefer round 4. I think WR, CB, and DE are much more pressing needs of depth than RB. I actually think RB is a significant need for this team but I think that need could be filled with a 4th or 5th round pick. -
Which running back do you hope the Bills draft and why?
billsfan89 replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know the draft that well to fall in love with any players in the mid round range but I hope this team invests at DE, WR or CB in rounds 2 and 3 and then dips into the RB pool in round 4 or 5. Once again value is where they will likely go but need wise I would rather target several other positions in rounds 2 and 3 before I address RB. Of course if the value is insane at pick 54 I think you can justify a RB there. -
T.O coming in gave the Bills their first sense of relevancy since 2004 when they had that epic defense. Granted it didn't result in much success but it put some energy into the season and into the fan base something they hadn't had in a long time. The 7-9 malaise of the Jauron years along with the middle of the drought was just killing the energy of the fanbase. TO at least for a brief moment gave the Bills some hope and relevance for that season. On the field the issues were larger and while TO was a positive contributor I think the team was a lot more pieces away from contending than just adding an above average WR.

RIP to the GOAT ring announcer. It is a bit sad that they never really treated him like the legend he really was. They had him do some silly things while he was in the WWF/E and it was stupid for them to treat a guy who worked their from the mid 70's till the mid 2010's that way. The WWE hasn't had any great ring announcers since. Some have been good but no one has had the same gravitas that Finkel had. Finkel had that old school announcer voice that immediately made everything feel great and important.

Tre White - Best in the League?
billsfan89 replied to Houston's #1 Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Arguably, Who is better than him? Gilmore and Ramsey are the only ones in the conversation really, maybe there is one other more unsung guy in there but Tre has been at a Pro-Bowl level since his rookie year and took a massive leap last year to being one of the top corners in the league. I can't think of a zone corner that is better than him for sure (Gilmore and Ramsey are man to man corners.) I think Tre is going to be worth every penny we pay him. -
Report - Browns in discussion with Vikings on OBJ trade
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Last year’s Browns were among the worst situations for Odell to be in. Yes they had his good friend Landry and other good skill position talent around him. But the team had an immature QB who needed to be humbled before he could lead a great team, they had offensive line issues that hampered the offense, and they had a head coach who was incapable of managing the personalities on the team. There was also issues on the defensive side even if they did field a respectable unit. Odell was also expected to be the big piece that put them into the playoffs and so that also added a lot of pressure on him and made the whole situation toxic if and when they began to lose. It would be one thing if the Browns were coming off of that 1-15 season and they brought in Odell, then the expectations would be super low and the pressure less. But they had expectations in Cleveland and that made the situation that much more of a pressure cooker. That's not to excuse Odell as he is very immature and needs to get it together. But putting a volatile player in a volatile situation wasn't a recipe for success. As far as their 2020 prospects (if there is a season) they did add Conklin and I expect they add another tackle with their first round pick, that should help their O-line issues and they probably could add a piece or two to the defense via the draft as they have an extra 3rd round pick to work with. Conklin and Hooper improve the talent but their issues go beyond talent. -
Report - Browns in discussion with Vikings on OBJ trade
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It doesn't match up with the rumors that he was upset after the 2018 season in which Kirk fed him 149 targets. I think there has to be more to the story because despite only 94 targets in 2019 Diggs had the better season. I think the targets might have been the last straw but something wasn't right there. -
Report - Browns in discussion with Vikings on OBJ trade
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To be fair to the Vikings were right in their philosophy with Cook as they improved a lot form 2018 to 2019. In 2018 Diggs got 149 targets and Thielin got 153, yet they were unable to consistently move the ball due to O-line issues and lack of a rushing attack. In 2019 Diggs only got 94 targets but had a much better season and the team went from 8-7-1 to 10-6 and a playoff victory. I think Diggs got frustrated with Cousins as a QB on a personal level not just a football one. There were rumblings about Diggs wanting out of Minny last off-season when he had 149 targets. So I don't think the issue was just targets as he was fed plenty in 2018 and still had issues. I don't think of Diggs as a big diva but certainly a strong personality that Josh and the coaching staff will have to manage. -
Justin Herbert is being predicted to Miami over Tua
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is why I am not concerned about the Fins long term. Yes they made some quality free agent additions (but this isn't the last time they went on a free agency binge) and they have a lot of draft capital both in 2020 and 2021 BUT they don't have a quality QB. Without a QB you are limited to just how far you can go (and it isn't like their roster even with their draft additions is super stacked.) That is why Josh Allen is ultimately responsible for the Bills long term fate the next 2-3 seasons. -
Any Position the Bills wouldn't take the BPA in Round 2?
billsfan89 replied to BisonMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
QB is really the only position I don't think they wouldn't sink a pick into. Yes Matt Barkley isn't the best backup but he is serviceable and a positive locker room guy (definitely deserving of the Alex Moran position) but given the depth needs of the roster they can't throw away a 2nd round pick at the position. Maybe DT is another position where the depth and youth is there to where tossing a 2nd round pick would be stupid. I can't see any other position where they would pass up a draft steal in favor of a need. QB- Yes they would pass. RB- Need a player behind Singletary they would use a 2nd rounder on great value. WR- They need depth short term and a long term replacement for Brown and Beasley who just turned 30 and 31 respectively. TE- Not much at this position group, lots of raw players and a often injured vet in Kroft. OL- Unlike some I love the O-line group but I don't think they pass on any O-line position if the value is super good. They have shown the desire to field a good deep O-line group. The value would have to be insane for them not to pass but it could exist. DT- This is one group where I could see them passing on great value. DE- One of the bigger needs on the team is to get a young player behind the older group there of course they pick a good DE if one is available. LB- Klein is older and on a short term deal, Milano could be a cap casualty, I could see them future proofing the position long term but the value would have to be good. CB- There might be a need here as outside of Tre the group has some questions, I think they aren't afraid to take a CB early. S- Value would have to be insane here but if there was good value I could see them taking on a player for short term depth and longer term security. -
Report - Browns in discussion with Vikings on OBJ trade
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess the Vikings like the safeties they feel will be available at pick 22 and not the WR's. The Browns fill a need in their secondary and get draft capital in a deep WR class. I like this trade more for the Browns than the Vikings. -
SI Article: forget about sports this year
billsfan89 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think if there is a season it will be played with no fans in the stands at least for most of it. Things change so rapidly in this situation we have no clue what is information and what is misinformation or anecdotal. I am hoping for the best but preparing for the worst (no season in this specific context.) Right now the NFL can wait 8 weeks to see what exactly the progression of this thing is. -
There will be some decent vet options available after the draft. I think McBeane is savvy enough to see how the draft shakes out and then dip into the vet RB market once they know what exactly they have at RB post draft. Out of all the options available, I do like Hyde the most but I think drafting a bigger RB around round 4 is the team's best option.

Jay Glazer: I will break big, national news tomorrow
billsfan89 replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it is that the NFL owners are going to play the season without fans in the stands (if this is Covid 19 related) or it is just a resolution to the Pats/Bengals Spygate 5000 situation. I bet on the more bland news story as I think the NFL will wait until June before making any major decisions. The NFL unlike other leagues is in its most dead time now which means that they are going to have the luxury of waiting until mid-June (where in 2 months things could rapidly change.) -
Decent marginal signing, former 4th round pick bounced around a lot but still has 21 starts in his career. Not much more than a bubble roster player who started some games as a rookie then later in his career got some starts due to injuries. Must not have been better than replacement level as he got cut several times and traded. But I like adding more offensive line competition in camp, value added that he is by all reports a good locker room guy. Odds are that he is just brought in to push Bates and Long in camp but you need depth and you need competition, this signing does just that.
