How Many Team Records Will Josh Allen Break in '20?
billsfan89 replied to jwhit34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It all depends on if and how much he plays week 17. If that game is meaningless in terms of seeding then it will be unlikely that he will get some of these records. But I do think he will break the records for completion Percentage and QB rating regardless of playing week 17. If he does play week 17 then he should have a good shot at yards and passing TD's along with rushing TD's. The only one I think he has very little shot at is yards per attempt. But breaking 2-5 team records in one season is a good year esp if it comes with a division title. -
Are the Patriots now the drought-era Bills?
billsfan89 replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We will see, this team will win about 7 games with a depleted roster due to covid opt outs and their cap crunch. With everything going against them they still are a 7ish win team. Let's see how they do when they get their players back and they have the cap space to add to their rosters holes. The biggest concern for them is QB. If they can't find a better solution at QB then they are unlikely to do much in the playoffs even if their defense can carry them to a good record. -
Bills sign Brandon Beane to contract extension!!!
billsfan89 replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This team went from 2000-2016 not making the playoffs in any season and having just 2 winning seasons along with no hope at QB outside of the fact that Tyrod Taylor was a decent low end starter and Drew Bledose and Fitz each had half a good season. From 2017-2020 this team has had 2 playoff appearances, is knocking on the door of a third, has had 3 winning seasons and looks like it has a franchise QB in his prime. Beane hasn't been perfect but he has made a perennial laughing stock into a legitimate contender set up for short term and long term success. Overall I am super impressed with the job both have done and they will be here the next 3 seasons no matter what. -
I would pass on it, I think Russell Wilson or Rodgers is a better candidate for the Madden Curse I mean Cover...

In the end this mess of QB's since Flutie (who wasn't that great of a QB just competent enough to make a few big plays and get carried by an elite defense) and really since Kelly has been one of the largest obstacles during the drought years. The Bills took nearly every single approach besides taking a QB in the top 10. They took mid to late 1st round picks (Losman and Manuel), traded for a proven veteran (Bledsoe), tried a lower draft pick (Trent Edwards), tried a couple of veteran reclamation projects (Fitz and Orton) and tried to go with a long term backup from a winning organization (Tyrod.) Ironically Tyrod proved to be Flutie like as he was able to manage games, make a few plays with his legs and make a big play here or there just enough to be carried by a good defense to a decent record. But the rest had short term success at best and none were the solution. McD realized this pattern and while he passed on dipping into the QB draft class in 2017 he saw that 2018 was the more heralded class and set himself up to be a player in that draft class. They pocketed KC's first round pick in 2018 in the trade down, they traded Sammy and Darby for 2nd and 3rd round picks in 2018 and then traded Tyrod for pick 65 in that draft along with moving Cordy Glenn and pick 21 for pick 12. McD did what the Bills had never done and they finally took a QB up high, going from pick 12 to 7 to take Josh at a very high cost (picks 53 and 56) and the gamble has appeared to payoff. Just one of many reasons why the McD rebuild and the Pegula ownership have worked and resulted in 3 winning seasons, 2 playoff appearances and hopefully a third playoff appearance and division title.

Marshawn Lynch Would Un-Retire For A Contender

Pass, I doubt that he is much better than Moss. I would rather just run with the young guns. -
If Trump loses and refuses to leave
billsfan89 replied to Kemp's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Trump out of office sadly will still be a huge power broker in the GOP. It is only if he goes to jail on tax/fraud charges when the GOP will fully turn on him. The bootlicking and sycophantic nature of the GOP to Trump will continue as long as he commands his insane base. -
Could John Brown be Released Next Off-Season?
billsfan89 replied to Halloween Land's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The injury concern is real but I also think that this team has two decent options behind him in moving Bates and Mongo in there. I think this team has a larger risk of missing his absence by cutting him than they do by him missing games due to injury. I think they easily rework his deal for a bit of cap relief and keep him in the fold. -
Bills could play entire AFC playoffs at home
billsfan89 replied to BITE ME's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would just worry about winning the division first. -

billsfan89 replied to Halloween Land's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why do people seem to hate Morse? He is a very very good center. I think he is an elite pass protector, a solid run blocker and is a great leader and communicator at a position where that is critical. I get that he might be a tad bit overpaid but they could easily just restructure his deal like they did with Star. -

billsfan89 replied to Halloween Land's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Given how much more dynamic this offense usually is when Brown is out there and the fact that he only has one more year left I think they hold onto Brown. Maybe they restructure his deal to give the team a slight cap cut of 1.5 million in exchange for fully gauranteing the money? But even with health concerns it would be foolish to cut Brown with one year left on his deal. I like Davis but why not give him and the other players you could develop one more year with a good vet in front of him? -
How about Bass? He's settling in...
billsfan89 replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He has been money recently. Great to see the Bills having a quality kicker and punter. -
It is such a huge game as Miami has finally hit the harder stretch of their schedule. The Fins have seemingly had a very soft stretch but now are finally hitting some other games that aren't gimmies. If the Bills can beat a good Steelers team not only would the team hit its confidence at the right time but it would most likely set up a scenario where 1 win in the next 2 games clinches the division.
-
A win against the Steelers and a Miami loss would put the Bills up 2 in the division with 3 games left to go. I don't know how the tie breakers would work but it could be possible with a win over the Steelers and Broncos the Bills would clinch as they would hit 11 wins and Miami would have 5 losses with a loss to KC. I do think that if the Bills beat the Steelers, Miami loses to KC and the Bills beat the Pats then the Bills would clinch as they would have the tie breaker over Miami and the Broncos and Fins games would be irrelevnat.

Feedback from the steelers forum...woah

Bad weather and John Brown still being out does tighten this game for me. A sloppy turnover and letting up a big play could doom this team. If this was in a dome or in good weather I would be feeling a 2 possession margin for the Bills against a banged up team. But this type of weather will favor the team that isn't playing as well. -

Good point, but the weather and John Brown being out could make this an ugly game where the Bills can't throw effectively and they need to run the ball which will help the Steelers survive the injuries to the secondary. -
Week 14: Steelers at Bills on SNF
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
50/50 game at home here. Steelers are a well coached team with an elite defense, good ST unit and an offense that has struggled at times but has been good enough (and is anchored by a two time Super Bowl winning QB), toss in the fact that they are well coached and this is going to be a tough one in bad weather conditions. This is going to be a game where Josh, Singletary and Moss have to rush the ball and control the offense. John Brown is still out and the weather will be bad on Sunday. What gives me some optimism is that the Steelers haven't been able to run the ball well and their pass rush suffered a big setback losing Bud Dupree. In the end this game is going to come down to three factors. 1- Turnovers (as most games do but especially in bad weather where one turnover could be the margin.) 2- Who can rush the ball. 3- Which team makes the big play. This is a pure tossup. Right now I am feeling Buffalo 24 Steelers 21. -

The Steelers are probably one of the "weaker" 11-1 teams in recent memory. Lots of close wins against bad opponents. But you are what your record says you are. They have one of if not the best defenses in the league, a good ST unit and an offense that puts up enough points anchored by a 2 times Super Bowl winning QB along with a Super Bowl winning coach. It isn't going to be a cakewalk against the Steelers. I do think that this will be a one possession game and it will come down to who doesn't turn the ball over and who makes that one big play that ends up being the difference in the game. It should be a slugfest between two very good teams. I am feeling a Bills victory as of now but I am worried the weather is going to hamper the passing attack and the run defense (which has been better as of late) is going to fold in a game where the weather conditions will favor running the ball. -
Is there a cap for coordinators in the NFL?
billsfan89 replied to Billsfanatixs's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know Daboll will be on the list of coordinators who get head coaching interviews but you never know who will actually get a job. KC's offensive coordinator has been on this "short list" in 2019 after Mahomes breakout season and again in 2020 after he coordinated a Super Bowl winning offense. And he didn't come away with a job. So while I do think there is a great risk of losing Daboll in the off-season to another team you just have to wait and see. -
I saw Star's value esp in the back end of 2019, I get that not every player is going to stuff the stat sheet or be eye popping. But Smith got a lot of bad holding penalties in 2019 and I would be shocked to see him out there for more than 25% of the offensive snaps. Unless he is a really good ST player (In ways that I am not privy too which is possible) who also fills a niche role on offense and adds value to the locker room. But honestly I just don't see 3 million in value from Smith as a blocker on a small amount of snaps.

Confirmed: Moss benched after fumble
billsfan89 replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like both Singletary and Moss as a combo (although I would love to see a pure speed back added to the mix next year), I think of Singletary as a better receiver (although Moss is not a bad receiving back) and a more well rounded elusive back whereas as see Moss as a pure power back. But right now Moss just is a bit behind the curve due to a lot of factors most out of his control. -

billsfan89 replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like what I have seen out of Moss but he isn't this dominating power back just yet. I think most rookies entered the season behind the eight ball not having a typical training camp or off-season experience due to Covid. Very few rookies are having a huge impact right now. But Moss has considering the circumstances been OK. He has a 4.1 yards per carry (which is OK but given his short yardage use is pretty good) along with 3 TD's in a more limited role. I hope he finishes the year strong as I think he and Singletary are a great complement to one another but I think expectations have to be in check.
