Patriots add "stud" WR Kenny Bourne [edited title]
billsfan89 replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pats will be a lot tougher but in the end unless they get a QB they are capped at 10-11 wins and unable to win more than one playoff game. -
KC trying to protect Mahomes, basically Mahomes restructured his deal to bring in Thuney. I also expect pick 31 to be an offensive tackle too and I wouldn't be shocked if their second rounder is also along the O-line and they kick the tires on some vets too. Not a huge upgrade for KC in my opinion as they lost their starting tackles but a big step in getting back to the team they once were.

He also only fumbled once in two seasons of returning. Cutting down on the team's overall turnovers.

I think Billy B knows he doesn't have many years left and is competing against two vastly improved teams (Bills and to a lesser degree Fins) and his old QB just won a SB without him. I think the Pats are hoping to win 10-11 games this season and make Billy B look like he was at least a part of the Pats success with Brady.

We all saw in 2018 how having an inconsistent return game can really lose you games. Having a steady hand the past two seasons was really good. I am very upset to see him go. Not sure why fans were so quick to rush him out the door. Maybe Mac can handle the return duties but I would have liked to have kept Roberts. 1 fumble in two seasons and while I don't like his kick returning (he was fairly average) I think his punt returning was one of the best in the league. Never an explosive punt returner but he was always solid on his returns and never a turnover liability.

Bills a rumored suitor for Kareem Hunt trade
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hunt isn't on that big of a contract? Why would they look to get rid of their dynamic duo which was the catalyst of their offense? Just doesn't make sense. -
Bills a rumored suitor for Kareem Hunt trade
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is still a three headed beast if they add Hunt and if wanting to be a lead back is Hunts issue then he still might not be the lead back with Moss and Singletary here. I have no issue trading Singletary and a 6th rounder in 2022 for Hunt or trading a 5th in 2021 and a pick swap in 2022 for Hunt. I am more so looking does this give Hunt what he wants. Last thing you want to do is trade for a guy who isn’t happy in the new situation. -
Cap impact of retirement?
billsfan89 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think they would just IR him or cut him to avoid any major cap implications. Hoping he doesn’t retire as I would like to see this team have a true one tech. -
I am thinking the Bills are more so looking at a Kroft replacement as opposed to a outright starting TE. The Pats paid retail for this guy and they seem to want to get back to being competitive in 2021 so they are paying big to fill needs. I am thinking Kyle Rudolph might be the type of supplemental player the Bills target.

13-3 with two playoff victories against pretty good teams is hardly a team you want to blowup because you perceive one team in the conference they can't matchup well against. The case for continuity is to keep that 13 win talent base and then supplement it with veteran reclamation projects on the cheap and the draft.

Legal tampering starts at Noon today
billsfan89 replied to 4merper4mer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tampa will lose some talent but 95% of that team is likely to return and they are built for the playoffs. They can win 11ish games in the regular season and get comfortably into the playoffs and they are just built for the playoffs. And the NFC isn't really all that tough this year. -
Bills a rumored suitor for Kareem Hunt trade
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is there any reason why the Browns are looking to trade him? Is he asking for more playing time? Is it a cap thing? Because if this is a playing time issue unless they are trading Singletary for him he isn't likely to get much more playing time with the Bills and thus won't be happy here. -
That's the question of value which is a respectable conversation to have and corner is not a tragic place to spend a pick if it is of overwhelming value and a pass rusher or catcher of respectable value isn't there. I don't believe in BPA in a vacuum nor do I believe in drafting for need in a vacuum. You take into account your needs and who is on the board. Just going off need pass rusher is the number one need this team currently has followed by adding a pass catcher in my opinion.

It looks like Bills Management thinks it is the RBs.
billsfan89 replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The passing game was also insanely effective which led to this team passing a lot more and not getting into a groove with the run game. I expect the offensive staff to try and work on the scheme as I agree with keeping the O-line together as I really don't think run blocking was the major issue in the ground games inconsistency. There were several games where the Bills were able to eat clock with a grind it out run game. The team just needs to find a way to take over on the ground when they have a lead. -
Unless the Bills can add a prime pass rusher (which I doubt due to the cap situation) I think they need to desperately add a pass rusher at pick 30. I wouldn't hate grabbing a corner in round 2 but for round 1 they should be targeting a pass rusher.

Miami trading Shaq Lawson to Texans
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My issue wasn't letting Shaq and Phillips walk it was more so signing Addison and Butler. I think that even if they were to getting a bit less dead cap on Shaq and Phillips it was still the right move to let them walk. They spent about 17 million in cap space on the combination of Butler and Addison and while they weren't completely unproductive they definitely didn't provide 17 million worth of value in 2020. I am not sure where else they could have put that money but for 17 million in cap space they could have definitely done a better job. I think even had they spent 18-20 million on Shaq and Phillips I don't see that having worked out any better. -
Any interest in Saquon Barkley?
billsfan89 replied to Victory Formation's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Giants are trying to win now and I think they are going to build with a strong defense and trying to make Jones work and part of that is having Barkley there. I wouldn't hate trying to add Barkely for the right price as he can be dynamic and it is a buy low situation. But I just don't see things really working out to where the Giants give up on him and for a price that would make sense. -
Free Agency Wish List After Pre FA re-signings
billsfan89 replied to IgotBILLStopay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Feliciano got starter money. Not high end starter money but they are expecting him to start. I don't expect McBeane to invest in getting a guard in free agency unless it is for depth or a reclamation project. I think they do draft a O-line player in round 3 for depth and to take advantage of a supposedly deep tackle class. But don't hold your breath on them going after a "mauler" in free agency unless it is a project player coming off injuries. I think they are comfortable with Mongo at RG and then having Ford/Ike battle it out for the LG position. I hope they do bring Ty back as the swing tackle and draft an O-line in round 3 so they can run 10 deep with Trey being the developmental project. As far as the draft I think they have to be targeting an edge rusher at pick 30. I don't see this team being able to do much in free agency due to the cap and needing to resign restricted/depth players unless they are willing to really restructure Diggs, Dawkins, White and Poyer's deals to risk more dead money down the line in exchange for cap space now. Personally, I would hope they are willing to convert some base salary into signing bonuses in order to secure depth and add a vet TE and a prime edge rusher. -
Keeping together a 13-3 team that won 2 playoff games before the draft is a huge success given the cap limitations. There is still the draft to add pieces and there is no guarantee that KC returns as strong. They already cut both of their tackles and have a lot of players getting older. I do agree there needs to be more done to get this team over the top but entering into the draft not losing any starters (assuming the restricted free agents get signed) is a significant victory in my opinion.
-
Brown is the only real loss of talent and while I would have loved to have kept him there are just difficult choices you have to make with a cap.
-
It is already a huge success esp if they lock down the restricted free agents and sign back some of the depth players. With all three being resigned I don’t see the Bills being able to get a big name pass rusher cap wise. Unless they are willing to restructure White/Dawkins/Diggs/Poyer’s contracts to risk more dead money down the line in exchange for cap relief now the cap space just won’t be there. I hope they are willing to at least restructure those players a little to free up a bit more space to get a prime pass rusher but I think McBeane prefers cap flexibility even if it might hamper the team short term.
-
I think of Bates as the utility player great versatility to play all 5 positions but you need more depth along the line. I think at a minimum you need three quality backups and right now the Bills have two assuming Ike is brought back. I would ideally love to see Ty brought back for one more season and an Oline drafted in round 3 to add some youth to the Oline and even more depth while Trey is the 10th guy on the line who is developmental.

Miami trading Shaq Lawson to Texans
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seems like a mutually beneficial trade. Should have cut Murphy and not signed Shaq but I would rather have had Murphy on a one and done than be tied to Shaq now -
What I like about Mongo is that he can step in at center and they can plug in another player at guard. I like the idea of drafting a tackle that can kick inside. Mitch I don’t see as a longer term solution at center but this is a win now team. But going Oline in round 3 helps with depth and helps keep the team in contention long term
