I think John Brown still has value and can be an asset to a new team. I don't think anyone is trading a 3rd round pick for the right to pick up his contract. I believe Brown will end up being cut by the Bills for the cap savings, and that he will be signed by a new team fairly quickly at a more reasonable contract.

Great work going through all of this. I think it's a really beneficial exercise to help give fans a realistic perspective, and to understand that you can't just re-sign everyone. One minor point that I disagreed with was the value of John Brown in the trade market. You said yourself that he has age, injury history, and a cap hit that are all against him. I find it extremely unlikely that a team would trade a pick as high as a 3rd rounder for him. I also believe D.J. Chark is definitely a better player going into the 2021-2022 season. You could also argue that Laviska Shenault is going to be better than Brown for the next season as well. I will always like John Brown for his contributions over the past two seasons, but there's no way someone is trading anything significant for him at this point in his career, and with his demonstrated history of not being healthy much of the time. Regardless of my difference of opinion on that one item, nicely done!

If anyone actually watched Zach Ertz play this year, you would see that he's not the same player. He's more "name" than anything else at this point. He's also still under contract for 2021 and is not currently a free agent. Sure, the Eagles will likely cut him, but until that happens, I'm not sure why we are speculating about signing him. This is like that thread the other day where someone suggested signing Kareem Hunt even though he is under contract through the 2022 season. Does no one bother to do a tiny bit of research before throwing ideas out there? Regarding Saquon, there is no point talking about it. The proposed trade doesn't make any sense and the Giants would never do that. I don't even think Madden would allow that.

I've only used fresh wings, not frozen. I'm lucky enough to have a Wegmans nearby and they always have fresh pre-cut wings available. I rinse them all in the sink first and then pat them dry. Then I cook them in the air fryer (necessary times and temps can really vary depending on the model). You have to be careful to not put too many in at once if your air fryer isn't big enough. It's key that you allow for air to circulate all around the wing to get the crispiness, so sometimes I just make two batches back-to-back to ensure that I only have one layer of wings in the fryer basket at once. I also always make sure to flip them halfway through.

I strongly recommend investing in an air fryer. No one has good wings around me where I live now, so I make my own, and they turn out awesome. Just buy pre-cut chicken wings, air fry them up to be nice and crispy on the outside, and toss them in mixture of Original Franks and butter. Dip in blue cheese and wash down with some Blue. Problem solved.

I know a few people have already stated this, but just to be clear - Kareem Hunt is under contract through 2022, and Nick Chubb is under contract through 2021, so neither of them are available to sign this offseason. If we are talking Free Agent RBs for this offseason, it isn't pretty. The best of the bunch is probably Kenyan Drake. Other guys who are currently slated to be free agents include Le'Veon Bell, Todd Gurley, Leonard Fournette, Tevin Coleman, James White, Mike Davis, Matt Breida, and a bunch of other guys who aren't upgrades. With Singletary and Moss under contract for the foreseeable future, I don't know that we are going to bring someone in. You typically want your 3rd RB contributing on special teams. If you really want an upgrade, you're going to need to look to the first couple rounds of the draft.

I like having the variety of playing four different NFC teams every year. Especially as someone who no longer lives in Buffalo, it would suck to know that the Bills are only going to play in a given NFC stadium once every 30 years (each NFC team is played once every 15 years, and assuming home field is alternated).

If C.J. Spiller, exactly as he was coming out of college, was in the 2020 draft, I'd expect him to go sometime in the 2nd or early 3rd round (given some of the other talented RBs available in this class). If we are looking at a generic draft occurring now compared to 10 years ago, I'd say he'd have a chance to go late 1st. In the 2018 draft, if guys like Rashaad Penny and Sony Michel were late 1st round picks given who they were as prospects at the time, I think C.J. Spiller would've been right up there in that discussion if he was also part of that draft class.

I was really aiming that response to those who are advocating for drafting a back. It's not necessarily what I would do. In fact, if we did receive a 3rd rounder (the likelihood of it being a 3rd is rightly up for debate), I'd be an advocate for using that pick on a different position. I wouldn't feel the need to draft an RB at all if we had Singletary and David Johnson.

David Johnson is 28 years old, and doesn't turn 29 until December. While I agree that he is past his prime, even last year he was still a pretty good receiving option. I'm completely on board with the trade if we can get an extra 3rd round pick plus a veteran receiving back in DJ to backup Singletary for the cost of some cap space. For those who would rather draft a back, why not do both? What if we used the 3rd rounder acquired in the trade to draft a cost-controlled RB for the next four years?

Trade for Jordan Howard? That's the only thing that comes to mind, but of course, it's probably just nothing.

The $45M remaining in current cap space per Spotrac.com isn't currently accounting for Frank Gore, Kevin Johnson, or Ty Nsekhe, nor is it accounting for the money needed to sign draft picks or sign free agents throughout the year as injuries occur. I'd guess we have more like $20-25M or so at the moment in available cap space if we're talking about signing new free agents right now.

Just an FYI that Spotrac doesn't currently have the contract details for Gore, Kevin Johnson, or Ty Nsekhe, so those guys aren't included in that $45M total. So the real total leftover is less. It also doesn't account for the approximately $9M needed to sign our draft picks (as currently projected by Spotrac), and whatever other money we'd want to carry over into next year for signing guys mid-season as guys get hurt.

I'm just curious -- Has the actual offer from Philadelphia ever been leaked/reported? If so, does anyone have a link? I can see both sides of the argument, and I lean towards the side of keeping Shady, but I could be swayed depending on the draft pick offered. Without knowing with certainty what was offered, I can't provide a strong opinion.

Of course any team would love to have a player that puts up those statistics. However, I do think it's fair to question why you believe Bell would be able to put up those kinds of numbers on a team with a worse O-line and offense in general? Le'Veon Bell has been in the NFL for six seasons now, and he's only put up 1200 yards rushing and 700 yards receiving in the same season a single time. Your assumption assumes that Bell will duplicate the single best season in his entire career. If there was some way to guarantee those kinds of numbers, then maybe I can be talked into going after Bell. I happen to think it's much more likely however that Bell would fail to meet our expectations, and, given the risk of him getting suspended or harboring discontent if we aren't winning, I don't think it would be wise to throw all of that money at him.

Le'Veon Bell Career Averages for regular season over five years played (2013-2017, not including 2018 holdout year): 532 receiving yards per year 62.4 receptions per year I'm fully aware that not every season was a full 16 games, but why would I assume Bell will play 16 games when he has only done so once in his career (as a result of injuries and suspensions)?
