  1. I like Jerry.....like every grumpy opinionated uncle rolled into one. I bet he'd be a hoot drunk at the thanksgiving table.
  2. RIP Bruce. Loved your work ethic, your humor, your willingness to face the questions and your attention to detail.
  3. That's a lower body injury for sure.
  4. I scraped the Bills sticker off my car after the second loss. I guess you'll only know I'm a Sabres fan until they lose.
  5. I wish I could even get them to watch football. We live in a Rochester suburb and all I ever see on kids are Patriots and Steelers jerseys and an occasional knucklehead kid wearing a Miami jersey (I have respect because fish are as hapless). My kids would get picked on in school if they supported the Bills. Thanks Ralph is right. I love my Bills and football, but even I DVR the games and start watching at about 2:30 so I don't waste all my Sunday afternoon. And I saw games at the Rockpile before you call me a bandwagon fan. The definition of insanity isn't lost on me.
  6. I remember watching when Trent was QB and thinking we looked like JV playing Varsity. And now when I watch other teams I feel the same way. It got better with Fitz and Orton, but once REX took over, we don't seem ready, plays are late on offense, we take dumb penalties, play 10 yards of on 3rd and 3 and just lack emotion. We are JV again. Its mind numbing. He makes me miss Jauron its so bad. Watching the Patriots last night was just torture. The biggest thing is feeling like a failed parent because my kids don't even watch football. To them the Bills are losers and considering they are 16 and 14, it's hard to argue with them. I've taken them to a game each season and we've never won one that they've seen live. It's killing me.
  7. My all time favorite game was this: http://www.nytimes.com/1988/11/21/sports/bills-clinch-afc-east-crown.html It seems the goal post tear down has been scrubbed from video history, but I remember that game like it was yesterday. My late friend Jane and I and the group I was with just stood there wondering if this was really happening. The goal posts passed up to Ralph was epic. Such Joy. My second favorite moment was when the Pegula's bough the team and I was with my nephew who was not a Ralph Wilson supporter. As we entered the Miami / Wilson tribute season opener, they were handing out stickers with the RWS logo. Dan took his, took a look at it and handed it back and said politely "No thank you". All that it means to be a Bills fan in one simple transaction. It still makes me laugh. #GoBills.
  8. "Win some games and shut us "nattering nabobs" up." This. Being a Bills fan is tough enough even without Dixie Whistlers. If you think things are rosy, please shut up. It really is OK to love the team and still be horrified at bad luck and ineptness.
  9. Like a Theisman? Once you see this you can't unsee it.
  10. Merry Christmas Bill. I don't post often but yours are great and your thread is the first thing I read the day after. I think what gets me the most is how the Rex hire embarrasses the Pegulas. These appear to be pretty naive nice owners. I feel so fortunate to know the Bills are staying in WNY. But I can't help but feel embarrassed for Kim & Terry. They look like fools with Wrecks (love this) buffoonery. What an disorganized idiot. I can't see him ever becoming anything other than what his record says he is. When Washington converted on that long third down, I almost went Christmas shopping. I'd had enough. But I kept watching until the bitter end because.................#gobills
  11. I think it's a valiant effort. I would add that observing the Bills is to watch disorganization. When the headsets didn't have fresh batteries it was no surprise to me. Attention to detail is the difference between success and failure.
  12. Orange-men with Carmelo. And as someone mentioned, watching the Giants punk the undefeated Cheatriots was close. Unfortunately, a few of my friends are Giants fans who recognize the Bills for what it is- a second rate franchise with clueless management (still until proven otherwise). So I couldn't even celebrate publicly.
  13. I was watching the game with my Dad at the assisted living home he lives in last night. Absolutely knowing that just like mom and all the other great Bills fans up in the sky that he isn't going to see playoffs while he's on earth isn't BBFS. He looked at me after the tying field goal and with such great enthusiasm said "Wouldn't it be great if we won?" And then we quietly watched the game unfold and he went quiet. It's reality, but we keep watching. Even with some dimensia he commented on how much better organized the Pats were. My dad always valued organization and working hard but smart. Sad to watch his demeanor when we are a long way from that. Even so, his words as I left were "Go Bills".
  14. "I stand by Whaley 100% if that is what this topic is about. Sammy is always hurt, couldn't have predicted that coming out of college." I can assure you that when he gets hurt you have two first round picks hurt. Dumbest draft move I've seen in years. And now what? The Bills are like the Sabres under Regier. Just good enough to stay average. The good news is I can go back to DVRing the game as I do when the season is lost and watching the entire game in 1:15, catching up to live TV just as time expire. It makes me feel less cheap watching this product somehow.
  15. I have DirectTV for one reason.....to watch the sabres. Most Bills games are on network TV and the ones that aren't give me an excuse to go to a bar. If the Sabres and Bills allowed PPV in local markets, I'd have HBO GO and Netflix. That said, I bet watching the game sunday morning on my Roku is a lesson in frustration. We'll see.
  16. If you heard him talk on WHAM out of Rochester you would be happy he only talked about football.
  17. I hate the bravado. There is a reason they play the games. I hope something can be learned from this, but my Jets friends tell me it doesn't end well. I am still hopeful. I know Brady eats up the blitz, but the lack of pressure was unbelievable. Go back and watch what the Giants did to end the unbeaten season. Brady had some success, but after getting rocked a bit, his body language said he was defeated. If this was real grass his jersey would have been totally clean. If you can't cover dropping db's then you need to try something else. TT has me hopeful. He remained calm, and made some throws. Not perfect, but for a second game he was good. Wit this defensive personnel if you said we'd score 32 points do you think we'd lose? This one is on Rex.
  18. I read that as him saying that his elation at coming from behind was a great gift from God. Not sure what the fuss is about.
  19. It's like a real life fantasy football. Crazy money, a passionate fan base, and time to get it done. It's like the ultimate excellent adventure. It feels like some crazy aunt and uncle are finally in the position to answer the question "If I was owner.....". However this turns out, it sure is entertaining.......
  20. I enjoy this banter more than the game last Sunday. I have to say that I am only hopeful because we have new ownership that has been pretty quiet. If Mr Wilson was still aboard, I am not sure how I would feel. I wrote that it was justice that the end of the RCW era would end in a loss to the hapless spawn of Al Davis, but there it is. I am obviously at the amusement stage of it all, because investing emotionally in this mess is too much. I used to go to games. This year I went to the Dolphins only because we finally have a new owner. They confiscated signs that said anything Pegula and I guess I get that. But that era couldn't end fast enough. I am too competitive myself to understand owning a team to make money but not win. To me he was a modern PT Barnum with the Owens signing as proof. I thank Ralph for keeping the team in WNY, but not for management of his "product", which by action the Bills were to him. I feel like its a new day!
  21. When your team sucks for fourteen years, you have a whole group of kids who have no interest in the Bills. They see dad their suffering, and want no part of it. When I pick my kids up from school I see way more Patriot and Steeler gear than Bills gear in the Rochester suburb I live in. I am appreciative of Mr. Wilson's effort to keep the team in WNY, but as an owner, not so much. It will take a bit of winning to get kids on board. You can paint it any way you want, i.e. "It's hard to win in the NFL", but I think it's really hard to miss the playoffs for 15 years in a row. PS....Go Bills.
  22. He brought a dog to Bob Krafts office......ha!
  23. "We will gradually design and plan a stadium for the Buffalo Bills"
