  1. Whaley gets the blame for Mahomes and Beane gets the credit for White, duh. (Even though Beane wasn't here yet).
  2. Bills could have done the same. Instead they picked up one of the worst of the available FA QBs to replace Taylor and ended up having to start the rookie. They broke up the team and then focused almost entirely on defense in the initial rebuild. They chose a different route but could have just as easily given Mahomes a year to sit and a decent supporting cast if they chose to. They desperately needed a QB right from year one. They didn't draft one until year two. To me that means that they just didn't believe in Mahomes or believed in Taylor before they him watched play close up him for a season. Either one is an evaluation error. It doesn't mean it can't still work out but it was a missed opportunity for sure.
  3. He doesn't have the confidence in his understanding of the pro game yet to move around in the pocket and go through his progressions. He drops back, makes his primary read, and then if it isn't open he panics and bails out of the pocket (usually by turning his back). That's typical rookie stuff. This is one part of his game that I have no doubt will improve with experience.
  4. My thoughts as well. What difference does 1 point make?
  5. Maybe in the standings, but they certainly matter to fans watching the game. This is supposed to be entertainment after all.
  6. When they didn't run the ball in the preseason I thought it was so that they could see what they had at QB. But now it looks like it's just their offense. As you say, not ideal given their personnel.
  7. White Dawkins Milano Allen Edmunds Phillips Johnson From 2 drafts. White, Dawkins and Milano are solid starters. The other 4 are rookies that are contributing already. I'd say that's pretty good drafting.
  8. It does have its similarities. The big failure of the Jauron era, IMO, was the inability to find a QB. Time will tell if that repeats itself.
  9. I'd like to see it if you can figure it out.
  10. Lotulelei has been fine. About what they wanted from him.
  11. He's a rookie. That's probably the biggest reason.
  12. He barely played this week either so what's the difference?
  13. I agree. It looked like a clean play. He wasn't trying to hit the WR at all.
  14. If only they had a young Jerry Rice waiting in the wings. He is bad but I'm not sure they have anyone that is an upgrade him. How many plays did Zay Jones make? It's not just Benjamin.
  15. Can't have too many CBs! In all seriousness, Gaines and Lewis have been streaky. They may develop into good players or they may go the other way. Not looking for another CB would be a serious gamble, IMO.
  16. Didn't need any excuses this week. 464 yards passing, 4 TDs, 0 ints.
  17. Do everything possible to take pressure off of Allen. Run the ball more often, even if you don't get a ton of yards. Keep more people in to pass protect so that you can take some shots downfield. Give the protection adjustment responsibilities to the center, if possible.
  18. Take a top WR #1 and a couple of OL in rounds 2, 3 or 4. But they do need a DE and CB in there somewhere too.
  19. Agree, but I think it's the system. And unlike Dennison, Daboll doesn't seem interested in "going back to what worked," the way Dennison did last season by resurrecting elements of the Roman/Lynn offense. On the positive side, they're getting lots of reps in the system he likes. On the negative side, it's not working.
  20. Packers were all over that stuff. They need to find a way to back the defense off a little bit. I don't think asking a rookie QB to adjust protections and make quick, correct reads is all that likely to succeed. A more conservative game plan with more running and more people staying in to block would be better at this point in Allen's development, IMO.
  21. 5 carries for McCoy is crazy.
