  1. There's no way that he could have been listed at #1 for political reasons but OJ was clearly #1. The only other player who could possibly be in the discussion would be Jim Kelly, but OJ was probably one of the 5 best backs in NFL history. Can you say that Kelly was one of the best 5 QBs? No way that Thurman, as great as he was, is even in the same conversation as OJ.
  2. Well the Pegula's are certainly not cheap. That doesn't seem to have fixed anything however. Maybe Ralph knew something after all...
  3. Would be awesome TV.
  4. I always saw Overdorf as a glorified accountant who was familiar with all the ins and outs of the cap and managed the numbers to make the contracts work. Maybe he gave financial options as to how they might get a player or how much they have to spend on one, but I don't think he was the guy that said Marcel Dareus is probably worth $X or Cordy Glenn is worth $Y. That had to be Whaley. Or if not, it should have been IMO.
  5. I suspect that the HC outlined the positions that wanted to focus on or type of players that they were looking for and Whaley came up with a list of options to pursue. The breakdown came in how aggressively they went after those guys financially. Of course the HC is going to say "give me the best guy we can get at whatever price." It's up to Whaley to provide some perspective on what different guys are worth, IMO.
  6. Maybe now OJ can finally track down his ex-wife's true killer.
  7. I like Whaley and don't necessarily disagree, but I'm sure he told Overdorf to try and make the numbers work for the players he wanted. Clay is a great example. They structured a ridiculous deal that Miami couldn't match and now they're stuck with it.
  8. Bills have most players on the list of top 25 players with outsized contracts, per Barnwell. Nice work in cap management... http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/20086567/the-nfl-25-best-big-money-contracts-adjusting-position-2017 The conclusion: "Doug Whaley wasn't a bad player evaluator at all, especially given the bevy of street free agents who came into their own in Buffalo. But he consistently failed to properly value players." Agree?
  9. You are a troll. Take this nonsense to PPP, if they will listen to it.
  10. I assume that this is a joke so I will only say that the goal of getting people off of welfare should be to get them good jobs, not find any excuse possible to kick them off. And redistributing this money to billionaires for their personal profit is so undemocratic, mean spirited and devoid of morals that it is difficult to see how anyone could say it in seriousness.
  11. Can you imagine Barry Sanders not being your starting RB? Damn.
  12. So take money from people on welfare and give it to billionaire owners who peddle entertainment? Awesome.
  13. Campbell is my all time favorite RB, but he wouldn't be as effective vs the big boys today. He would still be a very, very good RB, because he was more than just power, but he wouldn't be the human highlight reel of power running that he was in his era.
  14. Everyone would have some trouble because defenders are so much bigger and stronger than they were in previous eras. This is especially true for the bigger backs. Jim Brown was bigger than half the defensive ends he played against. He might have a little more trouble breaking the DEs tackle as he goes around the line and running over the LB these days. The guys that relied primarily on quickness and vision would probably do the best. Being a good receiver would also be a big plus in today's game. I like Barry Sanders, Marcus Allen, Gale Sayers, Marshall Faulk or Thurman Thomas.
  15. The Ryan hiring seems asinine in retrospect but there were a lot of people who thought that he'd put the defense over the top, taking them from top 5 to #1.
  16. Apparently. I saw the title and thought this was going to be about Bridgewater but I guess not.
  17. I think inside zone and man blocking plays suit our lineman better. You need a more athletic line to run outside zone plays. Agree. How can you get better than the best in the league? There's really only one way to go by changing things.
  18. Forget Bridgewater. Head to Washington to work on Cousins.
  19. It's a tough board for tough people..
  20. I think the fans should strike. We want reduced ticket prices at the stadiums, reduced concessions costs and no more TV blackouts. Complete boycott of opening day next season. No attendees at the stadiums and no one watching on TV. I'll bet that one week of that would do it.
  21. I was thinking the exact same thing reading this thread. And before people chime in, I know that it was in the parking lot outside the water park as they were closing... like that makes a huge difference. Regarding Washington though, why would you take out your gun when the police arrive to clear the parking lot? There HAS to have been something going on there that was threatening in some way. Otherwise taking out your gun just when the police get there is the definition of asking for trouble...
  22. Either that or the police shoot you. No big deal.
  23. Me too. And also vs Seattle (grudgingly). I absolutely can't root for Pete Carroll and Richard Sherman. The look on Sherman's face when NE picked off that pass in the end zone was probably worth seeing NE win the game....
  24. This DL is not as good as the one 3 years ago with M Williams. Shaq has a long way to go to be Mario from 3 years ago. Also, the DL won't get the same freedom to penetrate that Schwartz gave them. I expect them to be solid but not dominant. They really need this to be a season where Lawson and Washington take big steps forward otherwise this could easily turn into a weakness by next season after K Williams retires.
