Imo, the movement in unison was abrupt. The TE simulated a pass block set, the wing simulated the beginning of a pass route, both are common movements to the start of the play. The TE could have lifted his arm to a 2 point stance, paused, taken 2 steps back and then the wing/slot could have taken two forward. The way it was done was in unison and abruptly was intended to bait Murphy to react. The crew let them get away with it and if this were a universal interpretation, we would see it more often. The rule has an exemption for contact that resulted from a block and made it unavoidable. Most of these type blocks happen outside the focus of the referee who's main focus is on the QB. I doubt team's teach cut blocks like that in pass protection because it puts the QB at risk.

NFL rookie minimum is like $540k. I think the Colts are paying CK a little above that to be on their PS and the Jags are paying Minischew the minimum to play.

I do not want to research or rewatch it but 3 things you failed to mention that are part of my thinking. 1) The Bills had a makeshift OL. Maybe 3 spots with a different starter? It was a gritty road performance by an underdog in a tough situation. 2) RJ did not shine under those conditions but the final drive was a big moment for him up until he lost his shoe. 3) Wade panicked at the end. It was 1st down when he sent Christie out there !!!!! What coach does that and leaves time on the clock? Credit to your 35 year old self for challenging what your 15 year old self thought. Yeah and there was a video that went with the comment. That was the T-rex thing I mentioned. Just ran 1 route in a 50 sec clip of a WR drill but HC McD was playing the db and I thought Duke stood out there too.

There was a short video of HC McD working with the WR group this week (which I can't find now.) One by one a player would enter the picture and run an out route to the sideline. Then Duke entered the picture. I know he's not huge at 6'3", 228lbs but it was almost like a Jurassic Park movie when you are watching the velociraptors running around and the T-Rex suddenly shows up. He definitely has a body type that was missing in the WR group. He was also the only one to make the catch, quickly stop and turn up the sideline. Since McD was lined up playing defender, I wondered at the time if these things made any impression on him.
